    I have owned both and have substantial hours logged. The pa 28 is much better to fly than the cessna 150 or 152. There are pluses and minuses to both, but overall flying experience in a 180 is more pleasant.

    you can lean the mixture to burn off excess carbon from the magnetos if you have a large drop from one of them

    Frickin awesome video man..
    I do this all day, unfortunately it's on X-plane in the Carenado Archer II..Much cheaper though!

    @JohnnyEMatos it's not necesary, but it gives more power when you take off
    But it is always necesary to use the fuel pump to turn the engine on ;)

    kind of an obscure thing but i like the throttle and mixture controls on the piper better than a cessna

  • @uberchuckie
    @uberchuckie  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @therabbit0 To make sure mixture leaning works. The run-up for the Cessna 172 had the same step if I recall correctly.

  • @40joel

    @JohnnyEMatos Just depends on the aircraft. Low wings with Lycomming usually require it, continental usually don't. But like I said it just depends on a/c

  • @737pilot7

    Hey man that was awesome! Quick question, what camera did you use to record this?

  • @uberchuckie
    @uberchuckie  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @matjinthol
    It's an internal mic. I think the GoPro HD has an optional non-waterproof case where you can plug an external mic in? I'm not sure.

    It looks like its in fantastic condition for an older model. How many hours does the plane have?

  • @uberchuckie
    @uberchuckie  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @JohnnyEMatos I think so. I've never flown a low-wing though.

  • @uberchuckie
    @uberchuckie  14 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That really depends on the condition of the plane and how many hours are on the engine.

  • @uberchuckie
    @uberchuckie  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @tkdloveraus That's what we do too but our flying club doesn't have a tower and it's not in controlled airspace.

  • @TomCook1993
    @TomCook1993 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    why would you pull the mixture on the runup? I dont see that on the checklist

  • @uberchuckie
    @uberchuckie  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @737pilot7 It's a Panasonic DMC-ZS3, just a point-and-shoot camera that can do 720p video.

  • @therabbit0
    @therabbit0 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    why did you cut the mixture during the run-up? never seen that done before

  • @uberchuckie
    @uberchuckie  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @tkdloveraus We're trained from our flying club to check 121.50 for the ELT after we land. It was left from that.

    • @franzvoss4808
      @franzvoss4808 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your flying club has a lot of hard landings? Sounds German to me.

  • @steinwaygrande3971
    @steinwaygrande3971 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Definately not an IFR panel. My main gripe was the location of the Tacho. Later it was moved to an easier place to see. The 181 was even better then the 180 with its stubby wings.

    • @steinwaygrande3971
      @steinwaygrande3971 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tyler. I know exactly what you mean. one of the reasons I never flew Pipe,r unless there was nothing else available

      Steinwaygrande One of the cherokees at my flight school has that right-centered tach, but the other two have it over on the left, but higher up than it is there.

  • @lunchbag08
    @lunchbag08 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    You shouldn't leave carb heat on during the entire run up. Just Pull it look for a decrease in RPM and right back off.

  • @uberchuckie
    @uberchuckie  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @kd4adv Yep. I don't think it works though. My buddy wants to remove it but the plane needs to be balanced again so he hasn't bothered.

  • @brandontrojahn3254
    @brandontrojahn3254 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    The prop is a big reason for noise. But an a/c engine runs at a lower rpm than a car...while creating more power. Your car may have 180 hp....but that is usually at red line. Not likely to hit that. An airplane hits red line on every takeoff! Plus, not much of a muffler to speak of (weight)

    How nice it would have been if you had talked and given instructions, step by step. You are assuming some of us know what you are doing. Very upsetting if anyone wants to learn anything. Could not hear a word you said.

  • @DynamicEnergyExchange
    @DynamicEnergyExchange ปีที่แล้ว

    Where is the audio? You’ve got a second person in the airplane. Someone could be talking through the steps while the other person is doing them. Very boring video.
