From someone who has owned iPhones since the 3GS and has also worked with repairing iPhones and other smartphone devices, I always cover my phone with a case and screen protector. The phone will 98% of the time look brand new when it's time to upgrade and sell the old one. So yes with my current 15 Pro, I use a leather case and a good screen protector. :)
@@woodcider agree completely I look after my phones and treat them with respect so for me selling my phone for top price always happens some people don’t care about their phones
@@mp7939hey I'm in search to have them both , don't like scratches . I also have the apple care. Still i don't find a case that is able to combine a case and a screen protector on the apple 15 pro . Love your videos .
I have always, and will probably always use a screen protector. I replaced it 4 times on my iphone 12 and one of them was landing screen first in gravel from 12 feet... screen protector, shattered. Screen, pristine. Replaced it immediately. Just makes me feel better and worry a lot less when out and about.
Two things about the screen protectors: 1. They do make screen protectors with curved edges, so it’s not as sharp and apparent when running your finger over the edge. Also, you can just put a case on it and you’ll probably never notice. 2. Screen protectors also protect your screen’s oleophobic coating. I’ve had screen protectors that haven’t broken or scratched, but the oleophobic coating wore off. I always get the ones with a lifetime warranty, so I can just peel it off, take it back in the store, and walk out with a brand new one for free. Every time.
Good reviews, thanks. I use my iPhone 16pro as a bike computer mounted on the handlebars. I must say that my Supcase Unicorn Beetle MAG XT is great as the metal camera cover keeps crud, rocks, etc. from smacking the lenses.
1.) Magsafe? I tinkered with it, tried lots of different Magsafe cases, gadgets, & goodies (thanks to MobileReviewsEh) but between carrying around a strong magnetic field, relatively weak attachment strength, and (my favorite) the slow, destructive, battery cooking issues with Magsafe charging, I simply went back to a non Magsafe world with my 14 ProMax. 2.) Best iPhone case I've ever owned? After spending hundreds $$$ and trying too many cases to list, the winner is: The elago Armor. Hard to believe that a $16 elago case is far superior to some of the $75+ cases I wasted my money on. 3.) Thanks for another great review! 👍
screen protector is a must. learned it the hard way with my Galaxy S3. It saved my S23U screen when i discovered a crack on the edge of the screen. When i get the 15, it will be covered with a screen protector as soon as possible.
I have the supcase UB with the camera cover you showed. There are situations where it is extremely useful. I work in a machine shop and one of the biggest problems I have has is metal shavings getting in around the camera as well as working inside the case. While not perfect this greatly prevents that from happening.
I always go with a screen protector on my phones. You can easily replace a screen protector if scratched or cracked. I also just replaced my Belkin 3-in-1 with the Anker Cube. I love that little thing. I’ve noticed it doesn’t get as warm as the Belkin.
I’ve always used screen protectors. I get them for my grandkids phones…they are in their twenties so totally oblivious & just throw their phones around..the screen protectors have saved me a lot of money when it comes to replacing screens
I've had iphones starting with the 5s. Had a couple of those, a 6, x, and now a 12. I work construction and constantly have sand in my pockets which is the worst culprit for scratching. Never ever had a single scratch on any camera lens. I'm not a big Apple fan but their camera lenses are phenomenal.
I like the cases with camera covers when being to the public pool. You don't get accused of being a pervert and taking pics or videos of girls/women when you're actually just checking your mails or messages.
A good reason to skip magsafe case is if you have a pace maker like my mom. Mous specifically says to be careful to not get it too close to a pacemaker.
I love your videos. I liked this information. As a hobby photographer cases with covers were not used by me to protect the lenses from damage but rather from fingerprint smudges. I found that every time I wanted to take a picture I would have to wipe the smudges on my lens with my t-shirt. It was quicker just to open the lens cap before than to clean it. But to your point, my current phone case does not have a cover. I still do the wipe tradition because I want crisp clear photos.
What are your top picks for iPhone 15 Pro Max screen protectors that actually provide full coverage (I’ve ordered 3, none give full coverage), without breaking the bank?
Depends on if you plan on taking pictures with your phone. I hate pictures so I cover my lenses up. Don’t knock those lens cases they are quality and protect the lenses if you don’t want to use them.
@@kristofferopstad2203because you still need the camera occasionally and once it’s scratched or damaged you can’t do anything about it but pay for expensive repairs, weird question
Screen protectors are mandatory. Scratches look the worst on screen, everywhere else they’re at least tolerable. I once used my 14 pro without a screen protector for a few hours and it got a relatively deep scratch by just being in my pocket, I still consider it as one of the worst decisions of my life
I use a Zagg screen protector because my diamond earrings have been known to scratch the screen. I have a camera protector because it came with a case. My husband’s camera lenses shattered while working outside with the phone in his pocket so he uses camera lens cover, also. 😮
Better safe than sorry! I’ll lose 2% picture quality to have the peace of mind my camera lenses will always be pristine! These aren’t $200 flip phones anymore these things are more expensive than computers it’s a $1000+ investment
I would like if you reviewed the new UB sup case with the door for the camera. As far as the protection goes. Protection not for the cameras but the rest of the phone. Back glass, corners, etc. I trust your opinion.
I always have a saphire screen protector on the iPhone and did put one on the iPhone 15 pro max and yes when I use it caseless at home it sticks out. If it cracks I’ll go without it as on my iPad I normally never have one and there has never been a scratch. I also have Apple care so probably cheaper to fix incase it breaks than keep buying the protector
I love your videos! I just wish you reviewed android products so that I could buy them through your links to better support you. Even though you only do iphones, I use your recommendations for things like cases and screen protectors which *should* be transferable. I hope.
I love your channel's content! Super clever comparison when bringing up your car's front facing camera...I laughed louder than I should have. To answer your question, I swear by screen protectors for the very reasons you mention.
Since my device has to last 2-3 years, I definitely prefer to put on both a case and a screen protector. I’m kinda sad I lose how good the phone looks but I also can’t stand damaging something that I know I can’t easily replace.
Another reason for covering your iPhone cameras is privacy. There are a lot of cybersecurity professionals that cover their iPhone cameras both front and back facing just like they cover their laptop or PC camera.

I preordered the Shellrus sapphire screen protector for the 15P and really hoping the edges are curved! Tracking says it arrives Tuesday. I had one on my 13P for 2 years and it was still pristine.
While I enjoy your personality and some of your reviews, your take on iPhone cases that cover the lenses is just wrong. The value here is not stopping the cameras from smashing damage, it is to keep the lenses from getting scratched or the lens housing from getting scratched. I have scratched the lenses and lens housing on my iPhone 13 and 14 Pros. So, I now use the Supcase and it keeps my camera pristine.

The FloLab 3D protector is amazing. It’s the only one with truly rounded edges. If you use a case though, it’s not worth the $40. It’s only worth it if you are caseless. EDIT: Meaning that a 2.5D protector, like the Torras Diamond Shield, will work just fine with a case as you won’t ever catch the edge of the screen protector.
Why do you say the it is not worth it if you have a case? I have always used a case with a screen protector and was planning on doing the same with my new 15 Pro.
@@AJM547meaning the 3D is not worth it. You can use a 2.5D (like the Torras Diamond Shield) and it’s 25 bucks for two. The only benefit for a 3D is the fully curved edge, which you won’t feel when using a case.
I have purchased flolab screen protector I went with the 3D is was expensive but i always put a screen protector in my iPhone. However i have purchased the smaller iPhone 15 pro and im thinking about going without a case since the natural titanium is too beautiful to put that in a case. My screen protector is waiting for my phone to arrive. But if i go caseless or with a case I always have a screen protector on my phone. Aaron years ago said that Apple puts an oleophobic coating on the iPhone screens so if you go without a screen protector eventually that coating will rub off then you have a iPhone screen that feels awful. Thats my opinion
@@AJM547 I think Adam was trying to say that specific screen protector with nicely curved edges and costs $40 is only worth it if you don't use a case because if you use a case you can use any other (cheaper) screen protector without the curved edges because with a case on, you won't be able to feel the edges of the screen protector anyways. He wasn't trying to say don't use a screen protector at all if you use a case.
@@pkennethv Thanks for the explanation. It makes perfect sense. Since I am hoping to purchase the Phone Rebel Flex as my case, I would still want the better more expensive screen protector for me.
Definitely screen protector! I’ve been without it and have gotten scratches out of nowhere. So yeah! Other than that either caseless or slim pitaka case
I use a screen protector on the 15pro with a case and I can’t feel the edges. If you want to resell your iPhone at some point, a 10$ screen protector is better than getting 50$ less because of scratches on the screen
If reselling is your ultimate goal, let me drop some nuggets for you. Feel free to save this for future reference. Note that the folowing are in Canadian dollars, and costs for iPhone 15 Pro/Max: Apple Care+ for 2 years is $269. Full replacement with AC+ is $129. What the savviest of us do is buy AC+ and smash our phone at the end of 2 years, only paying $129 for a full replacement. That means that for only $398 total, you get a brand new in the box phone that you can resell. And yes, the premium of selling a BNIB phone over a "scratchless used phone" is more than $398 ;) You can also extend AC+ for 3 years, adjust calculations accordingly. This means that you don't have to bend over backwards during your use of your phone. Go caseless if you want. Who cares. At the end of AC+ you get a brand new phone for not that much money.
Camera covers if you would think about it are against the sun damaging the inner part of your telephone through your lenses. Did you ever played with a magnifier glass (i.e. lense) with the sun and what that is capable of doing? I bet you missed that one.
I think if I was planning to buy a new phone ever year or two I'd skip the screen protectors perhaps, but my phones need to last longer so case and screen protector are the way for me.
Yikes - I put a protector on the camera lens for my iPhone 15 about a week ago. Wish I'd seen your video before I did that! Can I take it off without damaging the lens?
One thing I can say about camera covers are, as someone who works in dust for 8 hours its great for not getting dust where it's not needed. Otherwise yes… useless
I either get Apple to fit the Belkin in-store or over the last 2 years I have used the Spigen screen protector, I am for the first time using the 15 Pro Max naked but only inside and I really can’t feel the sides of the protector at all, it’s definitely got some kind of rounded edges, that’s the only one I use and you get two in a pack. Loving using the new phone with no case, the new matte back and rounded edges is beautiful to have in hand, but outside I drop on my ESR or my Apple Silicone case Love, Purpose n Peace MCD EDIT: I do have Apple Care+ and that gives me peace of mind but I worry about them saying ‘well we don’t cover that because’ lol
Just to counter point the camera lens cover part, i use the camera covers because of sun damage on the sensors, i will often leave my phone face down and my old iphone XS sensor was damaged
Serious question, I’m around abrasive material every day due to my job, are there any cases for the 15Pro max that are similar to the lifeproof NEXT that was made for 13? That case had dust proof sides and back, and was compatible with separate screen protectors which kept my phone looking great after years. Now my 15Pro Max already has scratches around the sides because my case isn’t dust proof and scratches between layers. Trying to find a dust proof (not a bulky waterproof) case that I can install my own screen protector on but no-one makes one anymore..
I haven't used a screen protector on any phone for about 10 years, and I have yet to get a scratch on my glass. They just make them so much better than they used to. I'm careful not to put my keys or change in the same pocket, but I do drop my phone occasionally. But never any damage. I feel my case does a lot to help with that too. (Love the Mous case!)
these comments are sooo disingenuous like 10 years ago the screens are not as sturdy as it is today and even today, screens scratches. like so much work to keep ur screen scratchless like "i put my stuff on separate places and my phone is all alone like i put my keys on this place and hold this and that and this and that so i can keep my screen scratchless" like get a screen protector. the inconvinience of it all and dont get me started with ACCIDENTAL fall. no one believes that you have NEVER scratched your phone. so weird.
The case may work with MagSafe but there will be no alignment so you will have to be careful how you place the case on the charger MagSafe cases just eliminate that process way way way easier. If you have an iPhone that has MagSafe why would you not take advantage of that and use it. Like having a Lamborghini and doing 40km all the time what’s the point🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨
the flashlight cracked on the latest ipad pad 12.9 for me just sitting on the bed mixed other items on my bed. would want a cover for the damn flashlight
I had the Sapphire screen protector on my 12 Pro, a couple of unusual drops toward the end after 3n years an is showed some minor damage. I also use a Mous case. When I traded in my 12 Pro and AT&T removed the case and the protector, the 12 Pro looked like it just came out of the box new!
I believe dbrand has screen protectors with smooth edges.

What's the fastest MagSafe battery bank available? Is that super expensive multi-mount from OtterBox? I think it is the only MFi approved. Think might be better to wait until Qi2 batteries to be released.
You definitely need a screen protector i had my last iphone with no protector after it broke for months and kept it in its own pocket at all times with nothing else and yet still had micro scratches everywhere. While yet just an annoyance is still extremely annoying.
I'll disagree on two points, and both come down to personal preference 1. A case with a camera cover. I completely agree that the sapphire lense glass makes them useless for their intended function. However, the rocking of tbt iphone when I try to do anything while it's lying on a flat surface drives me nuts. The secondary effect of a lot of these cases is to have even rails along the top, smoothing out the wobble 2. Screen protectors. I've gotta have one. Not only for protection, but I use a "privacy" screen protector. Does it dim the screen slightly, even with on angle viewing? Yes. But not noticably so. And I don't have to worry about someone seeing the email I'm sending to a client if they're off to the side.
My 15PM is on order still. I did get the UB sup case with the camera cover. The case looked like it protected well enough. I liked the camera cover not cause I was afraid of them getting damaged but so many times I’ve pulled my phone out and had to wipe the lens off first with my shirt. Takes as much time as flipping open the cover. Was this or the new phone rebel case that just came out. Will see when I actually have the phone in my hand.
True story. Day #1 of getting my iPhone 14 Pro, I put an amazing (ly expensive) screen protector on it. Dropped the phone shortly later. Phone...fine. Screen protector? Not so much. Would my iPhone screen have been cracked if not for the screen protector? Guess we'll never know...
The screen protector is 10% for scratches, 90% for drops. Not everyone has/can afford AppleCare. Plus instead of booking an appointment and going to the nearest Apple store when you crack your screen, just put a new screen protector on instead
From someone who has owned iPhones since the 3GS and has also worked with repairing iPhones and other smartphone devices, I always cover my phone with a case and screen protector.
I’ve always hated cases with built in screen shields because of all the crap that gets underneath it and scratches the screen.
I use the cryo phone case without MagSafe because its important for me, where I live, that my phone doesn’t overheat or have its battery cooked
Do the cases that cover the camera tout some privacy benefit?
I love this channel. He’s so raw and I love that.
Kay-Vee-it?!?!?!
It’s Khah-vee-Aht!!
when would you be making the best screen protectors?
I use a screen protector on the 15pro with a case and I can’t feel the edges. If you want to resell your iPhone at some point, a 10$ screen protector is better than getting 50$ less because of scratches on the screen
Yup exactly case and screen protector day 1 and sell for 80% what you paid when new ones release
Or pay lots whenever you crack the screen
@@eurekaflows 💯 This guy iPhones!! Me and my friends have been doing this since iPhone 12.
@@eurekaflowsthanks for that tip
Camera covers if you would think about it are against the sun damaging the inner part of your telephone through your lenses. Did you ever played with a magnifier glass (i.e. lense) with the sun and what that is capable of doing? I bet you missed that one.
I think if I was planning to buy a new phone ever year or two I'd skip the screen protectors perhaps, but my phones need to last longer so case and screen protector are the way for me.
Yikes - I put a protector on the camera lens for my iPhone 15 about a week ago. Wish I'd seen your video before I did that! Can I take it off without damaging the lens?
Is there a big gap between the Hoda sapphire and a regular case? I’m really hoping there isn’t..
Loving using the new phone with no case, the new matte back and rounded edges is beautiful to have in hand, but outside I drop on my ESR or my Apple Silicone case
Love, Purpose n Peace MCD
EDIT:
I do have Apple Care+ and that gives me peace of mind but I worry about them saying ‘well we don’t cover that because’ lol
The way your dog looked at you when you drank orange juice😂😂😂😂love your vidoes!!
Just to counter point the camera lens cover part, i use the camera covers because of sun damage on the sensors, i will often leave my phone face down and my old iphone XS sensor was damaged
Don’t put your phone is the sun not good for battery but maybe you don’t care
Serious question, I’m around abrasive material every day due to my job, are there any cases for the 15Pro max that are similar to the lifeproof NEXT that was made for 13?
That case had dust proof sides and back, and was compatible with separate screen protectors which kept my phone looking great after years.
Now my 15Pro Max already has scratches around the sides because my case isn’t dust proof and scratches between layers.
Trying to find a dust proof (not a bulky waterproof) case that I can install my own screen protector on but no-one makes one anymore..
Monty’s adorable. Good tips… Perfect timing: Just got a new phone 🙂
I love my mous limitless 5.0 case
Keys and change are unlikely to scratch your screen anyways but still a solid practice
these comments are sooo disingenuous like 10 years ago the screens are not as sturdy as it is today and even today, screens scratches. like so much work to keep ur screen scratchless like "i put my stuff on separate places and my phone is all alone like i put my keys on this place and hold this and that and this and that so i can keep my screen scratchless" like get a screen protector. the inconvinience of it all and dont get me started with ACCIDENTAL fall. no one believes that you have NEVER scratched your phone. so weird.
Many of the cases you showed work with MagSafe even though they don’t have magnets
Agree completely camera lens covers are the tackiest iPhone accessories ever made what a waste of money.
Goodnight Monty!
I’ve never used a screen protector and have only had 1 significant scratch in 15 years
Talk to me about phone lanyards. I have two toddlers and I would love to go just a crossbody phone. With everything attached.
Monty is the most handsome good boy I’ve ever seen.
Yay Team Monte!
Missed you man!!
Wrapping bubble wrap around a boulder. lol. very true.
I believe dbrand has screen protectors with smooth edges.
What's the fastest MagSafe battery bank available? Is that super expensive multi-mount from OtterBox? I think it is the only MFi approved.
Think might be better to wait until Qi2 batteries to be released.
Can you review Bellroy cases please 🙏🏼
Nice Video! Nice threads Monti!
100 percent agree with the cases with screen protector. Why do they even make them, it always has that rainbow effect and dirt gets in between.
You definitely need a screen protector i had my last iphone with no protector after it broke for months and kept it in its own pocket at all times with nothing else and yet still had micro scratches everywhere. While yet just an annoyance is still extremely annoying.
I use the ESR case with built in screen protector and have had 0 problems mdr
I'll disagree on two points, and both come down to personal preference
1. A case with a camera cover. I completely agree that the sapphire lense glass makes them useless for their intended function. However, the rocking of tbt iphone when I try to do anything while it's lying on a flat surface drives me nuts. The secondary effect of a lot of these cases is to have even rails along the top, smoothing out the wobble
That First Gen. Leatherman Wave with the Original Leather Case outlives any iPhone 😂
Can you do a drop test review comparison of the Otterbox defender XT clear case, CASETiFY ultra bounce, and the Mouse clarity case. Please 🙏
Had no screen protector for 5 days after getting 15promax, got a scratch minimal bit was so pissed as I babied it
Hi Monty. Love the tie.
is Flolab still the best privacy screen protector on the iPhone 15?
I do not care for mine. Certain angles you still can see and you lose the quality of the screen.
😂 I saw the old thumbnail.
Please review the bodyguardz apex screen protector. I’m interested in it but it is ridiculously expensive so I want to know whether it’s worth it.
screen protector - privacy screen is what i use it for. not glass protection
The screen protector is 10% for scratches, 90% for drops.
Not everyone has/can afford AppleCare.
Plus instead of booking an appointment and going to the nearest Apple store when you crack your screen, just put a new screen protector on instead
