      SAME Shit. Too much mini butons effects and functions small and smaller to find and push fast, This burns the mind, is like for music/ song producer studio type dj.
      Who is going to make a BETTER CONTROLLER OR The WORKING DJS ?
      -ASK THE DJS in about 5 hour work how will we like the buttoms to be placed and size functions we really need:
      -How many times you need press cue buttom?
      -How many times you need find songs
      -How many times you need scroll carpets library etc
      -How many times you need to scroll windows ( song carpets playlist sampler)
      - Do we need a sampler volume?
      -How many times do you need do you need to open the window of sidelist.
      -How much do we use scroll by BPM
      by Artist, by album.etc
      -Do you need a big display on bpm. Or many other info in micro size screen.
      -FROM ALL THAT: How many times do you need EFFECTS OR EDITING A SONG WHILE YOU MIXING IN A 5 hour average event.?
      -Also do you like wider and less dip controller or deeper and short wide?

    The dots on the side of turntable platters are not to provide friction when mixing, they are for the strobe to give a visual guide to rpm of platter.

      In the case of a motorized platter, yes. In this case however he's right it's only use is decoration/friction.

    • @chunkygrumpy7561

    The competition in the production of DJ gear is fierce, with a variety of companies striving to produce the best equipment for DJs. With the rise of digital music and the increasing sophistication of DJ technology, it's an exciting time to be producing and using DJ gear. It's great to see so many companies pushing the boundaries of what can be done with DJ gear, and I'm looking forward to seeing what new innovations will come out of this competitive market.

    Great walk through on this unit, at first glance reminds me of thr Pioneer ddj 1000 ( rekordbox edition ) just by the view on the screens. Rane makes QUALITY DJ GEAR AND THAT IS THE TRUTH, anyone remember the Rane ttm 54 ? This unit gives me that same vibe. Being a Rane owner of the Rane 12mk2's, Rane 72mk2, and the Rane 70 A-Trak version. I have used the Rane One, but this unit seems very interesting, hopefully there will be a motorized platter version in the near future.
    But I will admit this unit has me thinking 🤔

    This day in time motorized platters are unnecassary , provide nothin but extra weight to a mobile dj. They have every thing right on this controller, nice size platters, dedicated stem controlls and a plethra of fx. However what would be the ultimate controller is having a dedicated sub knob controller with booth knob and master , 3 band eq for mic and a feedback killer and dedicated channels to route for multi room setups. that would be the ultimate controller ! dj Kaliym

  • @deejayqueazy8251
    @deejayqueazy8251 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    My guy. The dots on the platter are for the strobe light. So you can look at the platter and see how fast or slow it’s moving. Yes we have always used the side to slow down. But they are not there to add friction. It’s just design transferred from the classic.

  • @ortizmusic7115
    @ortizmusic7115 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Stems are great with old CLASSIC tunes, all the ideas I wish I could've done back in the late 80s are possible now, technology is crazy.

    "The stroboscopic dots are designed to be used as an indicator to show the change of the speed of the record relative to the normal speed. In simple terms it's a way to quickly see how much faster or slower the record is." Therefore, they are not for friction as you stated.

  • @Puremixdjtv

    Great review! I own the Rane One which is my favorite controller, I started on turntables and the One is the closest to 1200s in terms of feel. There is a learning curve for the small platter, but you dial right in! I'm happy to have stems in the new update, I hope to try out mapping some of the keys on the Rane one to set up shortcuts for stems. As others have stated, the non spinning platter is a deal breaker. Honestly I'm glad they don't spin...otherwise I would have had to drop some money on that beast stat!

  • @djfunkyjoe8215

  • @atypical_blk_guy
    @atypical_blk_guy ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I love my Rane One, but reading some of the comments, I wouldn't want moving platters on a 4 channel controller. The weight alone would not be fun. Also I think it was a smart move, if you look at the rev 7, it started out as a $1700 controller. It's currently retailed at $2k+. Not to mention the rev 7 has been virtually on backorder for the entire year. I'm almost positive that the Rane four will retail around $1599. Used ddj 1000srts are going for above retail. IMO, once you get above $2k you should be looking at standalones or a two tables and a mixer.

    • @ByAzura
      @ByAzura ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The whole point of getting a controller IMO is because stand alone mixer and decks are super hard to transport for mobile DJs. Otherwise get Rane 12s or CDJs

      Dj since 1985 here. Technics owned the TT market for 40 years. Still kinda does. Rane legacy heritage hardware build is legendary. Serato is the most stable and implemented SW out there. They may not have a budget for 3 engineers at $150k/yr x 3 platforms. Serato is the most sensible platform to start with. Peace.

    I understand the desire for motorized platters. It truly does give that old school turntable feel. However, when you're DJing, it's usually pretty dark and honestly, it's very easy to forget and not even notice that they aren't spinning. Especially with the screen in the center spinning. When I used CDJs, for the longest time I thought it'd feel awful after running 1200s my whole career. You'll adapt quickly.

      As a business move, it makes more sense to go with a non motorized setup. A few reasons, not everyone wants moving platters unless you're into turntablism. Second, the weight would be crazy. I own a Rane One and it's weighty. Third, given supply chain / shipping situation adding motorized platters would make this a 2k+ controller like the rev 7. Which if I had to guess, this one will be around $1499. There's no way it'll be around $1200 when used ddj 1000srt are selling for above msrp.

    Hello all,
    Is it normal with RANE that the output level meter (led indicator) does not change when I turn the main level control?
    Only with the channel gain control it changes.
    With Pioneer or Denon, the main level control directly affects the level meter. So I can see if the output is overdriven or not.

    Can you confirm that the crossfader is NOT software controlled? Usually you can see this in the Serato settings

    • @machiventa858
      @machiventa858 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah would be good to know this. Seems to be one of the complaints about the Rane One. Although I assume it is software controlled since he said you can change the cut in on the unit's software itself

      The crossfader is controlled by the hardware in the controller and not in the software there is your answer I own one and it’s damn nice sounds great and I’m a pioneer fan but no more

    Any idea if and when real-time stem separation is coming to Rekordbox and Pioneer controllers?

    • @efrn007
      @efrn007 ปีที่แล้ว

      Knowing how pioneer's business is, that feature will be issued for subscription to the pro plan, or unlocked by some specific future hardware.

    It's pretty dope. But the elephant in the room has to be the stem separation that has the phase or pixel sound. We'll all just pretend it's not there. Hey jk. One day the stems will be flawless. You know they'll figure it out.

    The fact that the platter doesn’t spin on the Four is the main reason I still prefer the One. That platter sitting still just irks me!

    Stem Split isn't new, Pioneer released it first with Dual Deck on the DJM S11 and FLX6, although I really like how Rane's Split feature "relocks" or brings the instro back to where the vocal is. You can do it with Dual Deck but you have to instant double and quickly click the instrumental stem.

    This is a very U.G.L.Y controller, the only thing going for this is the stems seperation and onboard efx. Pioneer Rev7 for the win and the Rane 1 second best.

    Just another controller with the horrible Rane vu meters. No tension control for the platters when there's a lot of empty space there . And for the crossfader tension adjust you have to remove the top plate ... why ? They could mount the tension adjust like in the Rane 70 mixer ...
