As a matter of fact Shot 3 was taken about half a mile from my neighborhood! I cross that crossing all the time. Never knew a signal was there, it was removed before I moved close by I guess. The crossing itself hasn't changed but there's a lot more buildings around there now. Wish I could time travel to 1991 to see this.
+lotusbandicoot Glad you liked it. There wasn't really enough freight to make a separate video, and it made a nice break in the middle of the steam stuff.
Awesome as a matter of fact when I went to the Indiana Transportation Museum I saw this unit being rebuilt from one of the guys letting me back where it was being rebuilt and that thing is massive huge i tell ya but great vid!!!!!!
That would be nice. Not sure how the current rebuild is coming along. This day was the only time I have seen the 587 run by itself. Did see it doublehead with the 765 a few years later.
I just saw a TH-cam video about Chesapeake and Ohio 2716 inside the repair shop located in Estill County Kentucky that was uploaded on Thursday, August 8, 2019
And the media says the plans are for the locomotive to be moved to Ravena Kentucky to be stored alongside Chesapeake and Ohio 2716 until the Indiana transportation museum can raise enough money for restoration, eventually returning the locomotive back to Indiana once restoration of 2716 is complete. And the media also says on Sunday, July 7, 2019 most of the main components of the 587 have left the Indiana transportation museum’s grounds except for the tender body, which left the Indiana transportation museum’s grounds the next day and was fully unloaded two days later #587 is now awaiting to be rebuilt for an overhaul of boiler flues and tubes, and it will begin once The 2716 project is finished.
The only time I got to see the 587 was in 1989 double headed with the 611 at Portsmouth, Ohio,I was disappointed that they absolutely would not blow 587's whistle.
Golden Rukoalga 6446 it’s an ex grand trunk western USRA 2-8-2 mikado built in 1918. It’s currently at the Midwest Railway Preservation Society in Cleveland Ohio undergoing a rebuild. Though the rebuild is lacking funds
She was disassembled in 2003 after her FRA operating permit expired, which resulted in her having to get more tubes, flues, and pipes replaced after every 15 years. This is her second restoration process, but now she needs to be overhauled so she can continue service
I am currently producing a documentary about the Indiana Transportation Museum and was wondering if I could use this footage in the documentary. I will give you credit in the credits~Joseph(Nickel Plated Productions)
Very glad to see you have some 587 videos. Very sad to hear what happened to ITM.

Great stuff. I'm glad you also included the freight trains to show the motive power of the time... especially that NS B23-7 and the Conrail power.

Love seeing my town from 1991! So cool seeing the train as well! Don't know much about them but its neat to see!
I love that whistle of Nickel Plate Road #587

That whistle of hers is quite loud, and drawn out. I like that.
A great memory I was on it
Awesome stuff! And on a side note, somewhere nearby, Bob Ross was probably painting a happy little tree
I too wish I saw this train and engine in 1991. That being at the age of 20.
0:04 that whistle is amazing

Yep thats the K&L Trainz original whistle from NKP #587
Can't wait to see it run again.

Dan Cluley Did you get footage?
+JacksonAndLansing Railroad. I did. That was in the summer of 1993 I think, so it will be quite a while before it shows up here.

@10:42, is that The second whistle for 587 or the third whistle?
587 only has one whistle valve
Other than Sierra No. 3 and USSC 148, 587 has to have one of the best and most underrated whistles out there.
It would be awesome to see both 587 and 4070 doublehead on the CVSR one day!
Yes it would.
I actually, haven't ever seen the 4070 run.
What's the 4070?
*pls inform me*
