    Got a chance to try these on in store the other day, and I actually quite liked these. I can’t seem them being that great of a running shoe, but they are probably one of the best lifestyle/walking/running curious shoe. Basically, the perfect Disney crowd shoe

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is exactly the use case for this shoe now, which is rather sad given the legacy of the 1-3 and how consistent as runners/trainers they were. Things change, thats fine, but I wish Nike was more clear on how they really changed what (and who) this shoe is for.

      @@SagasuRunning As someone who really didn’t like the IR 3, I actually quite like this as an iteration. I know many won’t feel this way, but I think Nike’s running lineup is stacked enough that there doesn’t necessarily need to be a dedicated place for this shoe in it. I’d say it’s a great commuting/casual running shoe and that’s alright

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would agree. The Nike running lineup doesn’t need the Infinity anymore. So making it a fitness shoe that can transition someone into the Nike running line makes sense. The connection I pointed out the the WellCollective is a clear strategy.
      I also don’t like the IR3 upper for running, it was fine for casual wear. But the IR 1-3 midsole is something I have close to two thousand miles into over the 3 generations. I spent ALOT of time in that shoe over the years.

    What you said about the heel striker vs forefoot strikers might be why I'm seeing such polar opposite opinions about this shoe with each new review video I watch

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is a fabulous heel striking shoe. A lot of the reviews I’ve seen also agree. It’s really optimized for a heel to toe roll as well.

  • @stephenrobinson4449
    @stephenrobinson4449 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Got mine the other day (a retailer jumped the gun I think). Did a slow 10k in them yesterday and at least i can run in this shoe , something I couldn't do with the IR , IR2 and IR3 versions , likely due due to the bulkiness of the React in those versions. ReactX is so much softer. Its heavy in hand for sure , but I didn't notice it so much on foot. Lets see how it goes. I'm waiting for the Vomero 17 also....
    Interestingly I'm neither a heel striker or a slow/ beginner runner, I am more a forefoot/midfoot striker. I cannot run in the Invincible series , even the 3. The extremely wide flares on the forefoot lead to this.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting. You didn’t find the ReactX too soft when landing in the forefoot? I was getting a massive pancaking of the shoe there due to how flexible the forefoot it (to help the runner though the heel to toe rocker).
      It seems we are opposite. I got on very will with the IR1-3. Never had an issue with forefoot running in them…
      I have to admit. The IR4 seriously tempered my expectations on the Vomero 17. I’m still going to cover it… but have low expectations now. Hopefully it exceeds them.
      I am very intrigued by ReactX though. I look forward to it in more sure so we can actually see how it performs.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Streakfly is your best bet right now. It’s one of my favorite trainers but needs to be pairs with a Peg for durability.
      Otherwise all shoes are trending thicker. It might be a while until we see brands making lower stack shoes… sadly.
      The Adidas Adios 8 is also an amazing daily trainer.

    353g in a US 10. Wow! Welcome to my world of daily trainer weights - but in a UK 13/US 14 :) This is going to be on the way to 500g for me! My "record" in a running shoe is almost 450g in the adidas SolarGlide 4 GTX which was so bad I ran a mile in it and had to run back to change shoes. That's not really one am looking to break :) I did briefly try the 1st version of his shoe as was half price but still felt wasted my money but at least it wasn't this heavy just really wide for my narrow feet. This one seems both wide and heavy. Kind of makes the Boston 12 seem "light" and that is 340g for me. I also think this shoe line has got rather forgotten. Didn't they initially boast that runners got injured far less in this than anything else or something like that. That never made a lot of sense. Seemingly nor does this as a "proper" running shoe - well for us who do not obviously heel strike. I did think that it was going to be a bit softer but that's no good if they are sort of as heavy as hiking boots and seemingly with rubber to match. Agree though could be good for heel strikers for easy runs and maybe more casual runners.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m not one to complain about how heavy a shoe is, especially a trainer, but this one is a bit ridiculous. My 9 US M weighed an average of 321g, slightly better but not great.

    Nike Motiva has an aggressive rocker geometry. I own a pair, but I can’t wear them all day. They propel me forward in every step I take. The downside is if I wear them for too long, I feel that my arch area is sore at the end of the day. I’d imagine the infinity run has a less rocker geometry with similar concept.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. Way less extreme but familiar if you are coming from the Motiva. I don’t own a pair but tried them on in the store and walked around in them a bit. There is definitely a connection between the two shoes, though the Infinity 4 has better materials overall.

  • @brianreiter5572

    For another reference, that is going to be approximately 440g in a size 13 US, which is more than the Scott Supertrac Ultra RC - which is a heavy trail shoe. The Scott is the worst and heaviest running shoe I have ever used. It’s more of a low-cut hiking boot. This is an absurd weight for a road running shoe.

    • @SagasuRunning

Think with all the roster of nike shoes we don't need another plushy shoes like this ( vomero 17 is rumored to not have any zoom pocket forefoot/ heel but only zoomX and cushlon 3.0 and will be the perfect mix between Peg and Invincible)

      We have seen the Vomero 17 and there are early reviews out right now. It seems like a plush shoe, not as soft as this shoe, but soft and still fairly heavy. curious whether injection moulding is cheaper than compression moulding, in your opinion/experience?

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s about the same when you compare them. With compression molding you have the pre-production of manufacturing the blanks, which you don’t with injection molding. However injection molding can require more tooling post molding and the QC process is more involved with softer materials.
      Actual mold production and lifespan differs between the two as well.

      Vomero 16 is 376g for me in a US 14. Peg 40 371g and Peg 39 about 355g. How does that compare in a US 12? My guess about 30g lighter. For a daily trainer none of these felt heavy per se but equally hardy Endorphin Speed or Peg Turbo racer/trainer type shoes but then again never billed as such. I did find it a bit odd that whilst the Peg 40 and Peg 39 are very similar a upper "upgrade" added 16g. With this shoe being way heavier, I agree with SagasuRunning that a much lighter Vomero 17 over 16 is very unlikely. Hope it turns out better than this new one seems to be though!

    I really liked the bit about documentation -- thanks for sharing the insights 😉Would be happy for more!
    Naive question: Why can't they say who is a target audience? Or maybe who are in primary audience? Or primary use case for the shoes? I can see them losing a little bit of consumers outside the target (not definite though, there are tons of PRO devices which are not used for PRO activities), but aren't the one inside would be much more satisfied with clear explanation of technologies and use scenarios?

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They 100% have this documentation internally. It’s how the plan and measure a product success.
      The only way you ever see this manifest on the consumer side is some type of product matrix comparing one product to another. Nike haven’t done one of those for running in many years. Even then they never want to say a specific user for a product like a running shoe as they don’t want to pigeon hole it to that one market. They would like it to have as broad appeal as possible, even though internally they did have both an ideal consumer and a ideal consumer journey for it.

      Right now it does seem ReactX is replacing React. If I read their PR copy about. We shall see.

    Forget about performance, to be frank - it's ugly. 👎
    BTW how heavy are you weighing in aesthetics when you buy running shoes? Because I try to not get swayed by looks, if the performance/comfort isn't there, but that's it - I "try" 😁

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are definitely uglier running shoes out there. I don’t think it’s that bad.
      I care about aesthetics… but what I value more of a cohesive design direction in how the products work together and relate to one another. Nike and Adidas do a very good job with bro. Asics is beginning to get there too.
      I can’t think of any shoes I completely loved from a performance POV and hated aesthetically. But there are definitely been shoes (and brands) I avoid to to aesthetics.

    bro, you're bashing on that shoe, but you should know by now, infinity line is for entry level runners. their goal is to make almost every amateur comfortable.
    so obviously you can't compare with invincible or pegasus.
    Its like to compare pegasus to vaporfly, makes no sense
    I think nike is doing a great job, especially because the problem of infinity 3 was the bpring midsole

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  ปีที่แล้ว

      I spend over 10 minutes of this video talking about how this shoe is really designed for newer runners and how the overdesigned aspect of this shoe will benefit them.
      But they doesn’t justify a bad shoe. The Pegasus IS also designed to be a shoe for everyone but it excels at working well.
      Also… the midsole in the Infinity 1-3 was very good. This one could be good but it’s very hard to tell given all the rubber and upper.

    • @AnDre-fj5lb
      @AnDre-fj5lb ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SagasuRunning Pegasus is indeed for every runner, but not for everyone. my girlfriend for example, can't run in pegasus, too demanding. she's much better off with infinity 3. I would die from boredom in the infinity's, that doesn't mean its a bad shoe.
      so if they added a little bit of fun factor to the line, without compromising stability and comfort, IMO its a hit

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @AnDre-fj5lb The Infinity 3 is a great shoe. I literally have close to 3000 miles in the Infinity series, most of that in the 1, a big chunk in the 2 and a little in the 3 (I didn’t like the upper for running, but the midsole/outsole was still very good). I’m not slamming the Infinity series here. Even with the 4, while I don’t think it is a very good dedicated running shoe (a step backwards from the Infinity 1-3)… it’s an outstanding fitness shoe that you can run in (not just jog in) the will protect and help newer runners grow in confidence and ability.
      A bridge form the Well Collective to Nike Running… as I explained in the video I can see the consumer journey from Motiva to a infinity 4 to Zoom Fly 5 or Invincible 3…. It makes total sense and is very clearly executed.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  ปีที่แล้ว

      I thinks the Infinity 4 is a all together different shoe for a different user than the 1-3 was. The first half of this review I come at it as someone expect more of the Infinity 1-3… but then I switch and try to explain why I think there has been such a change.
      I think Nike has been nailing their updates this year. The Vaporfly e, Invincible 3 and Peg 40 are all outstanding updates and considerably better than their predecessors.
      But the Infinity 4 is a different shoe for different users now… and that’s ok.

      I’m not one to harp on heavy shoes. I don’t mind a heavier shoe in training… but this one really pushing it.
