- What's a ski boot quiver? I walk through the different boots I use for ski touring and ski mountaineering to help you choose which ones are the best for you. I fit best in the Dynafit ecosystem so this review includes:
Dynafit DNA
Dynafit Ridge
Dynafit Radical Pro
Dynafit Tigard
I'll talk about how each fits, what type of skiing I use each one for, and which skis I pair with which boot. This is also a full season review of the new Dynafit Ridge - I've already put over 100 days on them and they are doing well!
Here to see the moustache. Boots are cool too.
Hey, this is a great video. I’ve been using the radical pro for three years as my only ski boot. I have a set of QST 98 for in resort, Backland 100s, and 106 K2. I find it does pretty well on everything but it’s starting to get worn out. This video definitely gave me some good information to think about for possibly next season replacement.
Great vid! #HojiLock4life I've got the Radical Pro, Ridge Pro, and I've got Tigard 110 on the radar. Looking to replace my Traverse Carbon boots with either the DNA or or the next iteration of TLT which I hear incorporates the Hoji Lock.
I've heard rumours of Hoji/TLT but I'll believe it when I see it. It would be cool though! Currently for me, the Ridge Pro takes away the need for a TLT weight boot. If I'm really dropping down to "race" style, I go for the DNA.
So between the Ridge Pro and PG Mountain -> how big is the difference in control & downhill performance?
I currently own the Ridge Pro and am happy with it, but my PG Carbonio is just soooo much more comfy and nimble. Thus I'm thinking about getting the Mountain as a do it all for my use cases.
You're not going to notice a huge difference in the PG Carbonio to the PG MTN. Same lower shell and a very similar upper. The big difference is the gator that keeps any snow from getting in the MTN. It's more suited for adventures for sure. I feel like the Ridge has a much more "solid" feel and handles variable snow better than the PGs. Obviously it's heavier. I'd say they are fairly different things. If I could fit my feet into a PG Mtn, that would be my go to for "race" style efforts in the mountains.
What Intuition Liner do you use in the Ridge and Radical? LV, MV or HV?
@@Matthias-gd9is I used the pro tour and have always been LV, but I’m thinking about switching to HV.
Which of these will fit into a hybrid binding?
Tigard is the safest with the grip walk sole. I've seen people use the Ridge and Rad Pro in a Cast style setup but I find that very unlikely to work well given how rockered their soles are. I use my Tigard anytime I'm using a hybrid or alpine binding. I use them with a Duke PT and a Salomon MNC alpine binding.
