- This is live music at its best. From the Jam perform one of The Jam's most well known songs and first No. 1 hit, "Going Underground". The original version was not released on any of The Jam's six studio albums, although it has appeared on many compilations and re-releases since then. In March 2005, Q magazine placed The Jam's original version of "Going Underground" at number 73 in its list of the 100 Greatest Guitar Tracks, and in October 2006 placed it at number 98 in their list of the 100 Greatest Songs Ever.
This performance comes from the "From the Jam - A 1st Class Return" concert Live at the Forum in December 2007. From the Jam kick off at full speed, each one
complimenting the other and the material as fresh as when it was at the top of the UK Charts! They turned a chilly night in North London into a rhythm inferno, and in doing so, rewrite modern world anthems for the 21st century!

Well, that is absolutely incredible. Goes to show that the rhythm section really was the key part of many of the jam songs, Rick the drummer, and Mr. Foxton on bass. Wow, unbelievable. The singer does sound like Paul Weller, and obviously props to Paul Weller on writing such a good song but the music behind it. Wow these guys have still got it.
They sound incredible. So great to see Rick and Bruce enjoying themselves doing what they do best. Carry on lads!!

Paul weller forgets this is why he's famous. If the Jam got back together they would smash it. This guy is a good replacement for weller no doubt & Bruce & Ricki are giving the punters what they want. Well done fellas..
PW didn‘t forget where he came from. This is nonsens. None of these guys wrote any song or single note they are allowed to perform in oder to earn some momey with it. Maybe BF contributed a little. But PW knows where he came from cause he was the who wrote all of these songs. His Bank account is telling him the truth 🤓.
I doubt it. Paul Weller has always been about himself. Even in The Jam it was the Paul Weller Show with a few contributions from Bruce. From The Jam are a nostalgia act. It would be better if they formed a new band composing new songs as they are both capable musicians but instead are trading off past glories Paul has stated has no interest in. He's better where he is now.
I think you got that around the wrong way. These guys are famous because of Weller. He's shown that he's just fine by himself. They haven't.
Weller is a self-obsessed tool who's only ever cared about himself. When he sabotaged the Jam he became nothing more then a a pop star loser.

Was sad they split but in. Hindsight watching them with weller .at 65 years old trying to do this is not the same

It's strange that Foxton Buckler never get mentioned when discussing the all time great rhythm sections. Because they should be.

When Paul Weller robbed us Russell Hastings stole it back , fantastic.
Having just been to see them on their 40th Anniversary Tour, I think Russell is a whole lot better than Paul Weller

Agreed. Russell does a great job. Wellers great but I cant see him doing this as a career now. Even though he's not perfectly accurate to weller I think hes achieved a lot in this band and is as good as Paul weller at performing the songs!

They've still got it. Fortunate to see them in Port Macquarie in 2015. Band did a brilliant job. Vocals really good.
+Steve H Where did they play in Port ? How long ago, dunno how I could have missed them.. I live on the Goldy and never heard they were touring, either that or I was off the planet... Paul Weller is a god to me... BUT, I did see them in 1976 at the Roundhouse in London, incredible back then, as I'm sure they still were when you saw them...
Steve Stewart-Sturges I happened to be working in Port Macquarie and couldn't believe it when I saw the sign outside the Panthers RSL club. Couldn't believe my luck. I rushed to get a ticket but needn't have worried, as only a small crowd turned up as they were playing at the average port Mac bed time of 8:30. They were brilliant, and when I went back to my hotel they were in the bar so got to have a beer with them too. They admitted to having to work hard for such a small crowd after playing sell outs in Sydney and Newcastle, but they were absolutely awesome. After having seen them 6 or 7 times in my youth in the uk it was bloody great to see them again. Russell Hastings is as close to Paul Weller as you can get. Really good. They are doing another Aus tour in sept this year, playing all the major cities, including Brisbane. Go, go. You won't regret it.

Reminds me of see in the Black Sorrows at Nerang Bowls Club, it was like, WTF....? 40-50 dodgy looking types meandering around and Joe giving it his all... Shows them that they have to be pro, every night.. As a aside, a old mate saw the Police back just before Roxanne broke in a club in Toronto Canada, with maybe 6 others... 3 months later, they were selling out stadiums... Cheers mate!

Seen from the jam loads of times. Met all the guys, bruce was my idol as a young teenager 79, 80, russell isnt weller and never will be but does a great job keeping the nostalgia alive and kicking.
Fantastic band... it's odd... sort of a tribute band... but then 2/3 of The Jam are in the band....
It's a band with a new singer and guitarist, that's all. The new name is either respect for Weller or to shut the whiners up.

Good attempt, but lacks the strip backed sound and the deeper low tones of Weller's voice. Foxton still a top bass player. I wish you every success.

He did split at the right time, Rick and Bruce werent the right rythm section for smooth pop stuff Paul wanted to do with the style council. He did what he had to, he wanted to keep making music and Rick and Bruce didnt quite fit into where he wanted to go.

Met Rick and seen Bruce lots with slf but never seen the jam or from the jam live but wish Bruce and Bruce were still together. Singer does a mint job though 👌. Paul up his own arse I say. He doing good but imagine a reunion? It won’t happen though 😮 same as oasis. Shame though.

From The Jam are the saddest thing I have ever seen (along with that current train wreck calling itself "The Specials"). When this song was out my parents were going to see old 50's bands in these sad package tours where the bands would have one or two original members. Sound familiar? The Jam broke up and they ain't never coming back, lots of people have yet to get over that 38 years later.
At least it is better than nothing! It is as close as getting to see the real Jam live as you can get. And all bands age! I am sure that many bands that are still together after decades sound nowhere near as good as they did when they were in their prime.
Shut up whining. If you don't like it, don't listen to it.
