Great review Lloyd. I've been using the Salomon Adv Skin for a while now and the pocket layout works well for me. I must say that the stitching around the edge of the belt has required lots of TLC by she who sews, plus the addition of loops to access the rear pocket more easily. Wouldn't swap though.

great reviews, picked up a compressport belt from the running show on a deal as wanted something to take a soft flask for shorter runs. Now I find it great to go with a vest to reduce the amount of weight/bounce and spread kit more evenly on ultras

I've used my compressport belt on every run for years going from 5k to 50 miles, it's the best value bit of running kit I've ever bought. It has a couple of holes in now but I'm sure I'll get a few more years out of it before I need to replace it. Great video, keep up the good work

Love my Naked belt. I ran this morning with it and a 500ml Salomon soft flask on each side and Bear spray in the back. Easy access and never even feel like I have it on. I think the key clip could be upgraded, the tiny plastic design they include does not take a larger key fob that well, I had to add a metal ring to my fob to make it work. Great review once again, any of those top three are great options. 🇨🇦

Great review summary! Thanks for your time, Lloyd.
That new salomon adv skin belt was a let down for me. Not having top access to that bigger pocket made it tough to use, especially if I need whatever is in the middle and I've stuffed some bits of kit or whatever inside that pocket, in front of it. Then, when I go to grab my stuff, I have to unload half the belt! Othereise, great belt 😂

Been waiting for this video Loyd thanks. In the end picked one you not tested the Kiprun Marathon belt from Decathlon and I love it. Super lightweight and comfortable with all the storage i need ( 250 mm soft flask , gels , keys , phone , keys etc.) don’t need pole carriers so this one perfect and for £20 a bargain. Once again Decathlon comes up trumps they really are hard to beat for quality and value 👏👏

Have been using the Eva duct for a couple summers now. Absolutely love it! The waterproof pocket has survived me dousing myself with water midrun so I do trust it. The pole bungee is also brilliant.
Loyd, with your narrow waist, mate, the S/M would work well. I barely get my fat tush in that belt but then worry it’ll split me if I try to wear it.

👍Thanks for this super well scripted and carefully edited roundup -- the chapters are very helpful for me and I'm sure so many others. I'm looking for my first running belt in years and am so happy to get the benefit of your experimentation!
I settled on your #3, the Saloman Pulse. I don't race, and it looks light & sleek & breathable -- perfect for me in Washington State.

Phew! I was a bit concerned that you’d select a different belt for the top spots, and I’ve had been experiencing ’buyer’s remorse’ after my recent Naked Band purchase! 😂 I agree about the centre front pocket, but I’m equally happy storing my soft flask in the back pocket and my phone, tissues , ear buds etc in the front pockets, so the Naked Band is working well for me so far (I’ve upgraded from a Salomon Pulse belt, due to insufficient storage).

My favorite belt is the (now discontinued) original Nathan Vaporkrar. It has the least bounce for a full flask of any belt on the market (yes, I've tried Salomon, Naked, Compressport, etc.) b/c it actually has a cinching system rather than merely using the elasticated webbing. That said, I agree with you that Compressport is the next best--better than Naked--for exactly the reasons given. That divider pocket in the middle actually restricts usage / flexibility of items. That said, I found the Naked belt to be more breathable than Compressport in summertime when I use these. Naked's material is closer to AdvancedSkin, while Compressport is a bit more cotton-esque in its handfeel.
So glad you made this video. Well done!

At the front lying flat, I used the soft end Solomon ones. So one in each of the two front pockets, then the big number over them. I kept the flash The opening near the hip to avoid them digging into my stomach. Nearly everything else in the back pocket. Used that setup for a 50k during the summer.

What is your favorite water flask to use with the Compressport? Having trouble finding a good one. For example, a lot of the reviews for the Salomon soft flask says the high-flow valve cap sprays water everywhere with the slightest touch, so this would only work best in a vest, not a belt. If you do use the Salomon soft flask in the Compressport belt, have you had any issues with it leaking all over the place? Even ultimate direction has their soft flask with new high flow valve. Maybe it is just the high flow valves and I should get older model one without? Love the video by the way and thanks for all the informational videos you make.

Agree on the Salomon Pulse Belt...it's basically only useful as a pole carrier and phone, as poles and flasks can hardly carried together, it's a bit of a design miss...using mine only for the poles with my UD pack as I don't like carrying the poles at the pack

Salomon adv for me. If i wanted to put on a bib number then 2 safety pins will do the job. The trouble with a lot of these belt though, is that after 10 miles plus they can pee you off. You have to find the right balance with electastacy and waist size.

Great vid and good comparison. I have the Advance Skin and really like the front pocket for a soft flask but too much bounce when in the rear pocket. I do find the side/rear pocket hard to open during a run and the Naked does look to have larger material tabs to grab and open the pockets. Does a 500ml soft flask fit in the front of the Naked with that divider placement?

I really like my evadict belt, but I use the waterproof pocket for my keys and ID/bankcard. It is a bit too small for a phone. I think the adjustment cords are a good thing, so I can always get a tight fit when wearing different clothes or gaining/losing a few pounds.

bought the advance skin belt from salomon as my first stretch band belt. disappointed that it really not fit for beginners who are having weight issues (hint: fat/pot belly), and they keep rolling down. also, the salomon letterings get whitered away every time it gets handwashed, which is a bummer.

Instinct is the best running belt. They use a tubular for belt storage, zero movement when you run, most of those belts you can see the poles bouncing on the back. Especially if you use low profile/lighter Leki poles

    • @Run4Adventure
      @Run4Adventure  ปีที่แล้ว +1

The instinct belt looks like a good option Gavan. To be honest, I've filmed a lot of running belts with poles in and there's always going to be a bit of movement but you don't feel any of it while you're running 👍 Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment it's appreciated 🙏

I also swear by the Instinct belt. 6 pockets. 4 traditional ones with a loop to access, and then a one side slide in on the front, and the amazing outer sleeve on the back for poles, or water proof jacket and pants. I've run intervals with a full 600ml soft flask in the front and forgot it was there.

Hi Loyd, this time I have to disagree a little with this Running Belt showdown. OK for the Compressport Runfree Belt, ok for the Naked band but imho some of the best belts are missing: Instinct Reflex Belt, Nortec Trail Belt Sensitive, Ultraspire Fitted Race Belt 2.0 and Raidlight 4 pockets stretch belt
    My personal ranking: 1 Naked, 2 Instinct, 3 Compressport, 4 Salomon Adv Skin, 5 Ultraspire, 6 UD Utility, 7 Nortec, 8 Evadict, 9 Raidlight (1, 2, 3 and 5 have bib holders)
Compressport is a very good belt but it has got a big cons: 1) when particularly wet, items inside it tend to bounce because the fabric is not so hydrophobic and 2) the fabric is too fragile, like all compressport products.
p.s. have you avere considered reviewing Instinct X10 backpack? I think it's a vvery good one, especially for those who prefer rigid flasks
p.p.s Previous version of the Naked Running band had the 4 pockets that you wish it had... I still have it and I also have the newer version with only 3 pockets. Well, believe me that 3 is better because items do not bounce even in extreme situations (very wet or heavily loaded). I also wanted the central front pocket at the beginning, but later on I appreciated more the added stability in extreme situations
Keep up the good job, I'm an avid follower of your videos ;)

What size compressport belt would you recommend for a 32 inch waist please. Never know whether to go up or down size 😂

For me personally its very important with a good belt since i smashed my collarbone and now can't wear a vest. Maybe you can come up with some good solutions how to carry your kit for an ultra not wearing a vest? A bit of a challenge there

    • @Run4Adventure
      @Run4Adventure  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

It really comes down to the size of the mandatory kit list 🤔
I have lots of friends that have used a belt in Ultras, even up to 100 miles. You have to use super lightweight kit that packs down really small. You also have to choose the right belt with lots of volume 👍

I’d say the Compressport belt would probably work the best. It’s nice and deep and has loads of storage space. There’s a review of the Compressport Free Pro belt on the channel 👍

I ordered the smaller size based on my waist measurement 30 inches but I had to exchange it for the larger size because it wouldn't fit over my hips. The small size is very small.

Hello Lloyd, long time watcher first time commenter. really keen on Free belt Pro, can you tell me what size you went for as I measured 38" hips but i am a 31 waist but worried the M/L will be too big and xs/s too small. What would you recommend. (if you reply i will subscribe lol ... Answer4Subscription)

HELP!! I am done using hand held water bottles, I want something hands free. I was about to buy a belt with the bottles that hang on the side when I saw this product and your video. Love your pace, enthusiasm and direct reviews! I want the Compressport, your #1 pick but am very confused about the sizing. I found your earlier review, you commented that you are a 33” waist which put you in the M/ L? Seems they have changed the sizing. I am 6’3”, 200lbs, 34-36” waist depending on fabric. From the chart i should get a XS/S, that can’t be right!? Please help some tired hands!

I'm glad you've discovered the channel and you enjoyed the video. The Compressport sizing chart hasn't changed, that what it said I needed when I bought my belt. Their sizing chart is wrong and you'd definitely want a M/L 👍

@@Run4Adventure I just noticed on Compressport website for shorts they have a hip and waist circumference size. I think people think their size charts are wrong because they're measuring their waist instead of their hips. For belts they only state hip size size not waist :)

@@Run4Adventure i know. I really appreciate your Video. My opinion: most complete and accurate on you tube. My experience with the pulse, both pulse was very negative, because once the zip is broken, the belt become no longer usable while you are running. Your suff fall off the belt due to zip position.
