    Half tights are a game changer, it’s so nice not to worry about chaffing

    Thanks to Nick for the Leggings recommendation a few months back, managed to get a pair and love em for running 1/2 mara with no need for vest or bladder etc.

      How is the sizing on the half tights?

    I may look at Soar running shorts though. : )

    Trying to fit gels in on a marathon is my biggest worry - I like being pretty minimal, will try either a belt or those shorts - what size did you use Nick?

      If you want a pair of shorts (not half tights) that has space for gels (not great for phones or keys though) is the Salomon Sense Aero series. They're pretty pricey though, and I'd suggest going up a size (I'm 34" waist, and the medium tops out at 33.9", and the large fits great for me).

    With those half tights out of stock …what are others that do a similar job? I just need to stash gels, I don’t take my own water - cheers!

    Hi Nick, RE decathlon leggings, what size did you buy and what size is your waist? (If you don't mind me asking!) Cheers

    I haven’t run marathon yet, Brighton marathon coming up, but have done 20+ long runs and 1/2 marathons. Go to stuff precision fuel and hydration products, kiprun running belt so easy to get gels and water in and out, Ron hill shorts with an inner layer, tend to be go to for a race day. For Brighton I will probably also wear compression sock, shirt I have a few options ronhill or nike

    95 $ for a pair of shorts that last for three years sounds good.
    I for example bought a pair of simple black lined shorts from Reebok in late 90-th for 10$.
    I have ran so many miles, lifted uncountable amount of free weights as a powerlifter, spared hundreds of rounds in boxing, wrestled a lot, competed in armwrestling and powerlifting, swum and ridden bicycles many times in this shorts.
    I sewn them tens of times but I still use the shorts occasionally for my runs when my new ones are still wet after washing.

    Kieran, another ultralight jacket option is the Zpacks Wind Shell. It weighs only 45 grams and packs really small. Zpacks is a small US brand making ultralight and minimalistic hiking equipment. The drawback is the hefty price.

    Hi - great review ! Thank you.
    Question for Nick: how do you bring sodium into your racing fuelling and hydration? Do you add precision 1500 to your Maurten drinks?

    • @mr.h.9103
      @mr.h.9103 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question! I was going to ask Nick how he fits the precision sodium tabs into his fueling regime. Inquiring minds NEED to know! 😂

  • @jaibeingjai

    Kieran I know previously you have advocated a more natural fuelling product. Do you now prefer a maltodextrin based product?

    Nick you're not wearing the stryd properly, the website says to use last 2 rows of your laces, closest to the toes as possible and consistency is key. If you keep changing position your stats will not be consistent

    • @TheRunTesters
      @TheRunTesters  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I tried several positions and wore it consistently in each when testing it, and it wasn’t reliable unfortunately. That’s an old cutaway of it, I’m not using it

    I didn't get on with the storage on the Kiprun marathon shorts, struggled getting stuff back into them when running, even had to stop to do it - although I did like the zippered pocket. The marathon belt from Kiprun is cracking, the tabs help to get the pockets open without the need to look at what you're doing. Despite the 'sections' on it, as it is pretty much 1 very large section and 1 smaller section. I can easily get my phone, 2 x 500ml soft-flasks, plenty of gels plus gloves and windproof in it quite easily and it stays put. I was wary of the phone storage to start with, as I thought a zip would be more secure, but no issues at all.

      Hi @garyduffy4661. I’m seriously considering the Kiprun hydration belt. Are you still using it? I’m curious to know how it’s holding up too, quality and longevity wise. Cheers!

      @sixelaeel it's OK. I needed to tie knots in the adjusters and if I put too much weight in it, it started to slip a little. I still think it is value for money. However I have been bought a compressport belt, which is comfier.

      @@garyduffy4661 I tried it out at a decathlon yesterday. Feels ok but not very comfortable. I could fit a 500ml decathlon softflask at the front but if i were to squeeze two of them in, i could feel the mouthpiece on my hip, especially at the sides. What softflasks could you fit in it?
