It's been pointed out a couple of times that I was wrong about the legs not having articulation. I've had two different figures over the years and NEVER realized that. See, you can teach an old Geewunner new tricks. 😁
This one I never saw as a kid and surprised me when I got one a few years ago. He's a lot of fun. My Daughter and I routinely have pistol battles using Galvatron and Shockwave lol. Great review Brutha.
Damn. Lucky. That one is an e-hobby exclusive from years ago and it’s one I want because they changed it to use AA batteries instead of a stupid 9 volt. He also has a cool voice gimmick, Albeit in Japanese only.
Thanks for this fantastic trip down G1 lane, I’m in the market for the recolour that came with a Matrix on a chain, but he’s so much more expensive than he used to be. You’re right, as essential for any G1 collector. Great Review as usual PPR.
Seriusly, i thought that G1 Galvatron had no articulation and always thought doesnt worth at all cause he looked like a grey brick.. But man! You changed my mind! Great review as always
G1 Galvatron is one of the guys I put together out of lots. Had to go the Shapeways route to get the cannon and clip, but man, is it awesome!! I can't believe after talking up Galvy in the UK comics and playing that commercial that G1 Ultra Magnus wasn't used in the comparisons! Those two only seem to be in scale with each other (and maybe Blaster), haha!
I got this guy complete with working electronics and orange barrel last year. My late-dog would go BERSERK though on the electronic sounds! She would just stop and give it the evil eye haha
My first childhood Decepticon and second Transformer. Last year, I got a personal grail: the purple E-Hobby repaint, very reasonably priced from an old friend. POTP Rodimus Prime scales nicely with this version of Galvatron.
Now that the Missing Link Convoy is on the prowl, I often wonder when the future will bring us this ver. of Missing Link Galvatron. It'd be close to his Studio OX model.
Never had this figure but loads of friends had him so I got to play with him at least. Always thought he was cool, but hey, it was the mid 80s and we all thought those brick G1 figures were amazing (I still think they are too heh). Also, massive fan of Furman's TF run with Marvel UK. He was given free reign on the Movie characters as marvel US had no real plans for them and his time traveling magnum opus starting with Target 2006 all the way through to Time Wars is still a epic adventure to read (and I am fortunate enough to still have my weekly issues of the UK TF run).
I love Galvatron!! The tank tracks go onto the back of the arms in gun mode. It actually doesn’t look bad when transformed all the way. Clearly it’s proper gun mode transformation wasn’t a focus in this review but you were almost there!! No worries still enjoyed the review 😊👍🏽 I love this figure and really really love the Takara reissue in purple with the Japanese voice clips and the transformation sound effects. I can’t wait for the Kingdom figure. Not concerned with the leaked distorted photos. He looks fine and he will be mine!!!
Also loved the commercial clips thrown in!! Had to rewind it to rewatch it a few times for pure enjoyment 🥰 My first time seeing the figure was on the school playground in 3rd grade. My dad was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, MO and we had just gotten back from Germany so I was a bit behind on Transformers besides what I could rent on VHS (That F.H.E. Intro!!! 👀) so seeing this new transformer blew me away!!
Here's another fun fact with G1 Galvatron... It should work on the original 86 version at least, I'm not sure if it does with any of the later re-issues (I know at least some of them re-did the electronics). There's a three-way switch for his sound effect which lets you select between three different sounds... If you set the switch just right, in between each of the settings you can get a blended sound between them, you can combine 1 and 2 or 2 and 3 for a total of five different sounds.
I must admit, and this might be heresy, but I always liked Galvatron more than Megatron, mainly thanks to seasons three and four of the cartoon (I felt he was kinda pathetic in the 86 movie with him doing nothing but stand around giving orders and being Unicron's bitch after pulverizing Starscream, but in seasons three and four I felt he was brilliant and truly got some great moments). I also loved Frank Welker's performance in the third and fourth seasons (again, maybe heresy again, but I never was 100% sold on Leonard Nimoy; performance-wise, he was fine, the only one of the 86 movie celebrities who seems to deliver a good performance IMO, but I personally felt he was miscast in the role). The way Frank handled the slow burn was just brilliant, and this moment from Ghost in the Machine is proof of that: "Well all I can say is... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" I'm happy that this particular line made it to the review. 😁 And the toy looks fun. I like his articulation and gimmicks. And even though he is taller than Rodimus, I don't really mind (though Rodimus is pretty sturdy, so maybe he can hold Galvy over his shoulders, I know he can hold TFP Voyager Shocky that way, but never tried it with a bigger toy than that).
i never have thought of this guy as a brick ever since i got mine in good old 1986. his legs really do have some articulation in there maybe yours is defective somehow? also for handgun i believe the treads are supposed to be set with the bottom part straight up. easier to do if the arms arent all janky and can hold a position.
My old copy of this guy...who could really use some chrome touch up and a set of those decals...has knee bend and ratcheted legs that really don't go anyway because of the hips.
Hey, enjoyed your video; went ahead and subbed. I used to have a big G1 collection myself but sold most to make room for Masterpiece. I still have a working G1 Galvatron (with Toyhax labels) though, and is one of my favorites. It sits on my desk in my home office. Just FYI on this guy, in bot mode the legs do move forward at the top of the thighs and has a joint at the knees.
Thanks for the Sub, I really appreciate it. It's been pointed out a couple of times that I was wrong about the legs. I've had two different figures over the years and NEVER realized that. See, you can teach an old Geewunner new tricks. 😁

Boy, he sure has come a long way from G1 toy adaptation to today's version. But nothing beats the orginal.
Hey I have this one! It was my dads when he was a kid. He’s missing his Cannon but other than that he’s in great condition.
I wonder if G1 Galvatron will ever get re-released. Thank you for this review Patriot Prime.
Hasbro missed out with Season 3 Crazy Galvatron quotes for the toy’s electronics.
Good stuff!
Very true.
While watching your review,I forgot about the button that switched the noise.he is awesome thanks.
I got the Takara reissue of Galvatron. He came with the Matrix on a chain to go around his neck

I had that one back in the day, alas he fell victim to the Great Purge of 2012.
I really enjoyed the introduction you did and the other clips you put in. It’s always fun to see you spice up your reviews.
Never had this guy but always thought the glitter barrel looked cool. Excellent review like usual! Hooah!!!
I did, and I enjoyed him very much

I’m so glad to own this figure! Nice review!!

sorry...
Great review as always. I'm currently hunting for a complete working Galvatron figure. CHEERS! :-)

You totally missed his leg articulation!

I had to thrown it in, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
The Figure is not perfect, but Galvatron is cool. One of my favorite characters.
I didn't have many Transformers as a kid but I managed to pick Galvatron and Power Master Optimus Prime.
PM Prime is a great figure.
Robo Cents- intriguing
Just got mine last week 👍

Gonna have to try that out.
@@PatriotPrimeReviews, I'm not sure if it makes it *better* but it's definitely interesting.
With weapons of mass destruction at his finger tips, even Galvatron has his favorite weapon:)
9:55 now I see why they choosed Ultra Magnus as his nemesis in the commercial
Notice Megatron is the one talking about him?
Good ole "Bait & Switch".
@@PatriotPrimeReviews Wow
They squared off in the comics as well. Almost like people thought Magnus should be leader instead....
This is the one I had.
I think you slightly miss transformed the gun mode, I seem to remember rotating the tank treads onto the arms
Either way, it doesn't look that good 😂
@@andrewross9214 Actually it does when it's transformed correctly.
@@windsweeper8002 I don't know...I always thought it was just too...wonky? Does that make sense?
@@andrewross9214 I do get what you mean but maybe my perception is slightly skewed since I've had him for 35 years.

The legs move if they're not fully locked in place, at least that's how it is with mine.
Bass boat? Never heard that one before
My old copy of this guy...who could really use some chrome touch up and a set of those decals...has knee bend and ratcheted legs that really don't go anyway because of the hips.
I need to check on that knee bend, you're the second one who has mentioned that.
I've never noticed.
@@PatriotPrimeReviews I would send you a picture but I'm not sure how to on here...are you on twitter?

Heh always hated this version of galvatron. I got him when he first came out as a kid and thought he was goofy looking then.
It's amazing how much toy companies got away with making toys that came nowhere close to resembling their on screen counterparts back in the 80s!
The toys did come out before the show so that is part of the reason.
@@QuantaSolace And before that, the character models were based on the toys themselves, with some hiccups due to incomplete toy details.
If the electronics don't work, is there a way to swap out battery?
Yep, it's just a 9 volt.
@@PatriotPrimeReviews do you have any videos on stuff like that?
