Lyrics: Well I always said someday I was gonna leave you Some April when all the land is wet Some spring, summer fall or maybe winter I'll leave someday but I'm not ready yet Yeah now I should of left the day I knew your love was dying But I passed up every date that I ever set But I know I'll leave when my heart tells me it's ready I'll leave someday, but I'm not ready yet Yeah now I must have left you a hundred times but you don't know that 'Cause I was afraid you'd laugh when you found out just how far I'd get But you didn't, and you don't - I know you ain't gonna ever And someday I'll go, but I'm not ready yet Yeah now I should of left the day I knew your love was dying But I passed up every date that I ever set But I know I'll leave when my heart tells me it's ready I'll leave someday, but I'm not ready yet
I can't listen to this song without breaking into tears- every time! And don't get me started on "He Stopped Loving Her Today". Something about that voice, combined with his ability to stretch and tease a note into infinity. Pure genius!
You got that right 💖I truly understand you .I will never stop loving him .When i listen to him, my heart is healing every time i need it .I believe he is singing to all of us with his heart and soul .He loved his fans and we truly loved him back.Till forever is gone💝💝💝💝
Shar Crum I had 2 chances to see him and both times he was a no show. I still admire him. I know how hard addiction is on a man and those who love them. POSSUM FOREVER.
Kings of country. I see where you are coming from saying 80s 90s were his best years but I meant he was at his best in this era simply because his state of mind just made his emotional connection to a song so genuine, and natural. He wasn't concentrating on "performing" he was singing from the heart while coping with life. Nobody has George's ability too feel the emotion in a lyric.
Jones in late 70’s early 80’s was on top of his game. His voice was off the charts. Sad that he was beating down and struggling. He’s the greatest as far as I’m concerned.
Tom t hall wrote this great song , I love George , he number 2 to me to the great Merle Haggard , Merle’s song writing puts him ahead , love then both !!!!
thanks so much for this amazing piece of history! These live performances should be a national treasure, as they will never be matched because George Jones was the most amazing talent to ever grace the stage.
This song is so sad and heartbreaking and George sings this song with such true feelings and emotion. He sings about leaving in April, well many years later George and Tammy did pass away in the month of April. Miss them so much.
Many thanks for upload ! It's very great to see this "live show" from one ciné-movie camera placed behing the (GREAT !!!) pedal steel player (he sounds so as Pete Drake : fine !). From France : Jo Luttringer
I'm honored to share "words and comments" about steel guitar with one peron "Connor M.#Trump2016". In France also, after so many killed persons (250 from january 2015 to this morning), many country music fans observe the duel Clinton/Trump- THANKS FOR YOUR COMMENTS. JO LUTTRINGER, PETE DRAKE'FAN (I play many instruments as professional but not pedal steel guitar (dobro, yes, steel guitar, no)

Well I always said someday I was gonna leave you
Some April when all the land is wet
Some spring, summer fall or maybe winter
I'll leave someday but I'm not ready yet
Yeah now I should of left the day I knew your love was dying
But I passed up every date that I ever set
But I know I'll leave when my heart tells me it's ready
I'll leave someday, but I'm not ready yet
Yeah now I must have left you a hundred times but you don't know that
'Cause I was afraid you'd laugh when you found out just how far I'd get
But you didn't, and you don't - I know you ain't gonna ever
And someday I'll go, but I'm not ready yet
Yeah now I should of left the day I knew your love was dying

But I know I'll leave when my heart tells me it's ready
I'll leave someday, but I'm not ready yet
Any info on the date of this performance?

I grew up in the 60's rock/roll which I still enjoy, but the best voice/music in my lifetime has been George Jones!
I’m just gonna say this one time George Jones is the greatest singer that has ever lived that’s the bottom line
Fully agree 100%, I've even visited his grave and cleaned it off for him. Seen him live 1 time.
Yes sir the best….
This is my number one song he ever sang
Beautiful lyrics ❤❤
Can't believe he mentioned leaving in April, when he actually did pass away in April..
Oh wow. I didn't realize that
He is the greatest ever and it ain’t up for discussion love u jones rip
I loved his music so much, I’m so grateful, I can come to TH-cam and watch, I loved Tammy as well!
This is in Louisiana ; I was there ; Alex brussared ranch ; what a great show
Great song written by Tom T. Hall.....
I’ve always said this Vern Gosdin was really good but George Jones was on a whole different level
That ending ...... holy mackerel.
By far the greatest country singer to ever live. Jones was the greatest followed by the Hag.
What makes Merle the best of all time is his songwriting, hank Sr close 2nd , George Jones great singer
Lol - Merle’s songwriting is what separates them
I agree!❤
Haggard will always be #1, Jones #2.
That steel man could bring chills and tears to a rock! 💙😥
So glad George found Jesus Christ before he passed. Will enjoy his music on the other side.
R.I.P. George!

Aside from George’s amazing singing, the band gives such great support here

What a legend never be another
No one can fill this man's shoes. Period
Oh, if I could have just seen him once before he was gone forever.
you and me both. Conway is another one I wish I had got the chance to see and Tammy Wynette
Shar Crum I saw George live many times. You're right once you see George live you just never forget it
Shar Crum I had 2 chances to see him and both times he was a no show. I still admire him. I know how hard addiction is on a man and those who love them. POSSUM FOREVER.
Saw him 14 times and kissed Nancy 6 times.. truly blessed
This was when I believe he was at his best .
From an emotional standpoint yes but vocally, I think he was best during the 80's and 90's.

Pete Played on Jones records from the '70's to about 1987, was replaced by Weldon Myrick on the 1989 album One Woman Man because Pete Drake had died.

I think Pete Drake died in 1988.
Remember like yesterday ; we fought roosters that day in sunset la then went see George ; what great times in my life
Fantastic sound! The musicians listed must be from the LP/CD as the excellent peddle steel player in the video is not the great Pete Drake.🎵🎶
Hello John, Yes you'r right, I write the info I find for this LP/ CD and do not know who is playing with George here at this video :)
The steel players name is Tom Killen.
where can you find a copy of this video
what is this from and when?
Now thats how u do a show.
