- Welcome back to a new video!
I'm getting into the Christmas spirit with a DIY project, restoring 2 vintage ceramic shopper girl planters/vases.
These two ceramic figurines were missing paint and I wanted to restore them so that they can be displayed along with the rest of my Christmas decor.
I used Gloss Enamel Acrylic paints and I recommend them for any type of ceramic or glass painting projects.

Thank you for posting this video 🙏🏻 I found a 1950s vintage poodle figurine that’s missing color in one eye and I was so glad to find your video. I love the Christmas shopper girls! You did such an amazing job restoring them 🥰
Thank you for watching! I’m glad my video helped 😃
When I make a very light tint, I start with white and add color; instead of adding white to color. It just seems more efficient. You don’t wind up with so much paint left over.
Good tip!
@@JordanFees 😊 I love seeing thrift store finds get repaired and re-loved. All the thrifting channels are like, “That’s got a chip-PASS.”
@@SB-ez3dw Agreed! If something has a good price and potential, why not give it a good home and some tlc?
So cuuute!! I came to learn how to clean the spaghetti and add paint to my Napco Dancing Santa’s. Your shopper with the dark green coat is amazing!!
Thanks for watching! 🎄
These pieces look so pretty. Nice jobs ❤
Restoring a napco shopper girl myself cant afford the 225 an hour for professional restorer to do it. Thanks for sharing the red paint choice you used.
Good Luck and thanks for watching!
Good video! I just got a nice ceramic figure from a thrift shop and I want to paint it in a more vibrant color scheme.
I love it! You’re the best! That red matches well right out of the bottle! You inspire me to want to collect vintage Christmas figurines.
Hello I always see you liking my posts on Facebook, vintage Halloween enthusiasts. Had no idea you have a channel! Great stuff thanks for sharing all your cool stuff!!
Beautiful thank you for sharing
Thank you for a wonderful video. Love your talent. I have started to collect vintage holy water fonts. My artistic abilities are minimal, not like your workmanship.
I’m going to do this to a Santa figurine. The directions say that it can be baked (275 degrees) to make it glossy. Have you tried this ?
I typically only bake something that I would be washing, for example I paint wine glasses so those I bake after I paint them. If it is a ceramic figurine that is already painted I wouldn’t bake it. I didn’t bake the figurines I touched up and they are still looking great! I’d love to see the Santa that you paint!
Very informative on how to restore the ceramic. Main question I have, if a hand or arm was broke off, what type of glue would you use for repair? Thanks, new subscriber here.
Thank you, I would use a heavy duty glue (E6000 is one I’ve used for projects like this, Michael’s stores typically has it ) I definitely wouldn’t use hot glue. Good luck!
@@JordanFees Thanks so much for the reply!!!
You can get E6000 at Walmart for between 4.00- 5.00
What type of sealant do you recommend?
You don't need a sealant with acrylic gloss enamels. Let them cure for about a month and they'll be completely permanent.
I have a big challenge and I need your help. I have 4 seasonal fontanini simonetti angels and they need color. It is a rare material and color. I don't want to ruin them😢. What product do you recommend for it?
I have several Fontanini pieces, are yours the same standard material? Like a hard polyresin? Gloss enamels should work or if you don’t want the shiny finish, maybe regular enamel acrylic paint would work. Michael’s has them in the Acrylic Paint section
@@JordanFees thank you so much!!!! Yes, it is the standard material.
Could you use acrylic paint on the figurine?
Leanne1980 I wouldn’t recommend using regular acrylic paint. I’m not sure it would hold up
Ps: do you know what they were used for initially?? A small planter?
how to restore painting of the figure that is coming out
I have an old figure, it looks perfect, but the top of the hair has faded a little. It was black and a little bluish. original figure how to restore faded hair? please
Is it a ceramic figure? If so, look into gloss enamel acrylics. That is the type of paint I use. I haven’t had much luck finding it lately due to the pandemic which caused factory shut downs.
Can you use nail polish enamel?
I’ve never tried it so I’m not sure if it would work properly or not
Will this paint hold up outdoors and watering?
For water, I would say yes since it’s the same paint that I use for wine glasses and other surfaces. As for outdoors I’m not 100% sure, you’d probably want to use a spray paint or something like that, depending on the project you’re working on
@@JordanFees thank you! your tutorial is informative.
