Me and my husband just did our own commentary to this 😂 was great fun. Hot table, Belgian linen, fill in medium, solvent , hand rolled swabs, stretcher not a strainer, fishing wire, isolation layer, fully reversible archival, not glazing in whole areas, spraying the varnish to create the desired effect. Boom. Think i could conserve a painting now. 😂
I was hoping so badly you would start uploading the asmr versions again. It's been maybe 3 or 4 years and I still go back and watch them ❤ Thank you so much!!!
With the "clouds" across the bottom, this looks like the memorial painting of a beloved child who has died and is now in heaven. Very touching. Almost sad.
I have no idea why the paintings you work on and restore get me so emotional. Its as if I was the one who painted them and you bring them back to life with your talent. It's a privilege to see the care you take in restoring these paintings.
The high quality of your workmanship, and perfection in every detail goes without saying, the finished restorations speak for themselves. What goes unnoticed are the many hours of editing after carefully considering camera angles, close-ups & perfectly focused videography, paying close attention to proper lighting, and ensuring you capture every detail for our benefit. Outstanding, a pleasure to watch from beginning to end. Thank you for creating a lovely community of like-minded friends in the process. 🙏
I really prefer the commented version, having you explain what you're doing, why, how. But it's cool to have this one video where we can hear what it actually sounds like. There is such a variety of sounds! I'm pretty amazed that you work in so much "silence".
Your filming is phenomenal and your attention to detail in every step you do is appreciated. Lovely to see someone that takes such pride in their work ❤
Thank You Very Much Julian... ASMR approach is always wonderful to watch. Please do not misunderstand I do enjoy and I learn from your voice over. This quiet ASMR is just beautiful and comfortable to watch over again especially in this world we all live in with loud advertisers constantly in our face selling whatever. More and more with the advertisers on TH-cam in an increasing amount. TM
Like cleaning a very messy child up right before grandma arrives then repairing the outfit she made for the child in a way that she doesn't notice. How rewarding! 👌✨️
@@IAmElectrospecter This piano version you hear in the video is actually an arrangement by Franz Liszt on Schubert's piece, which as an original was actually written for piano, violin and voice.
I think I may have figured out the reason this was painted. My guess is it's a memorial/ remembrance painting of someone's little daughter. The way it's painted she seems to be on a cloud looking on from Heaven. No matter what the back story it's a beautiful portrait and well worth preserving.
No matter how many times I see your videos, I will always marvel at the precision of the color matching during retouching, and how the few passes just magically blend the colors to perfection. So satisfying.
Loved this! The ambient sounds and quiet segments allowed me to better concentrate on your work. The painstaking detail, concentration and care you must place in your work and the dedicated solitude you live in at times during these labors. Loved the music, especially the Schubert pieces - the Standchen and the Arpeggione sonata intro with violin! 🎻 Beautiful all around ❤
This is just what I needed, I think my ears have been overstimulated, I've been hearing words so weirdly today that everything feels fake. Just the reset I needed
It’s easy to do both types of videos, just by using the footage from the narrated version. Hoping for more versions like this, best of both worlds. ❤❤🎉
This is an exact duplicate of the earlier video, but without narration. Ah... I just went back to the comments in the earlier video where someone, arrogantly, suggests that they could narrate what you are doing step-by-step. You showed him! Touche! Well done!
I was referred here from Tom Johnson's antique furniture restoration channel. You're both masters. One difference is he talks while working, whereas you sometimes play the piano.
Brilliant transformation, just from cleaning. Love this one. When I was in Portugal visiting many of the beautiful cathedrals, I happened to ask to no-one in particular Why not clean some of these Paintings? The guide reprimanded me saying >You Americans always want to have new and bright and don't appreciate the artistry of the old masters." Stunned, I responded that Not true but we do appreciate seeing what the master artists meant for us to see, not centuries of so much dirt and grime you can't see the actual details. I then offered up Baumgartner Restoration as the ideal guy to do the job. Not surprisingly, it wasn't appreciated.
Thanks, always impressed by your job, i m sure the painter would kiss you, you made his work greater! (Sorry i think in french and write english) Thanks a lot to share your art with us
As wonderful as the ASMR version is, I still prefer listening to you telling us about the painting, why you chose what you chose and so on and so forth. That aside, your work is as usual, beyond compare! When I see a painting that needs some help I find myself going "Baumgartner!"
Looking at this painting, Mr B.....makes me wonder. It's unusual, with the cloudy, strange softness at the bottom of it. Could this be a memorial portrait of a deceased child? This little one's image is done by an artist of great talent and skill. It really has quality. If I'm right, that artist may have been requested to come in and do this, very soon after the child's passing. May sound crazy. But..this unusual portrait just looks like it may be such an image....the mist, the sadness of the child's expression...I just think it's a possibility. As always, superb work, Mr B.!
The music at the beginning is by Franz Schubert and is actually known as the "Arpeggione" sonata. To quote Wiki: "a six-stringed instrument fretted and tuned like a guitar, but with a curved bridge so it can be bowed like a cello, and thus similar to the bass viola da gamba".. Here it is played by a Violin, but can also been played on the Cello and even the Double Bass.
I like both the old tyme version of non-narration and the newer version of narration! So if I had to pick which one I prefer, I would vote on both! It’s more revenue! Go for it!
What a wonderful video, I still love your voice overs, I can say as many will do on the comments... I mentally ran down the Julian tasks check list.. 😂 Thanks for the video, superb work as always.
Did I miss a before and after side by side photo? If there was one, what is the time stamp. The was remarkable how nasty that varnish was and how delightful the colours were at the end. Thank you for your most excellent and wonderful work. Quite liked this format too!
TH-cam just won't recommend your channel to me. Either I have to come to the bell (which is crowded) or search for your channel from time to time. It's so rare to click in a new video from you from my Home page.
I like both ASMR and narrated versions of the video but in this case I would have preferred narration simply because I'm not sure if I've ever seen you repair a tear with that method. You could go the Primitive Technology route and add explanations in the CC. Regardless, another banger video.

Me too! Let's do this.
I couldn't void it, did the same 😂.
It was a beautiful work, sublime I’d dare say ❤👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
great comment
"My husband and I..."
Almost sad.
dont worry the child is actually an anthropomorphic deity, all is good
It looks like water splashing to me and he is in a bath ..... possibly a bubble bath.
I thought it was lace from her dress.
Oh my god oh my god, we got the narrated-then-asmr format again, truly what an absolute treat 😭❤️
What blows my mind about these restorations is how he matches the colours perfectly when touching up. You can't tell, just WOW.

And that's why you can instead watch the commentated version. He uploaded that too.
Oldschool Baumgartner. Yesss!
I love the crazy whispy curl atop their head. What a beautiful painting. ASMR version is a nice background for me to crochet to. Thanks Julian.
I too finished off a crochet while watching!
Omg im crocheting too!
Your filming is phenomenal and your attention to detail in every step you do is appreciated. Lovely to see someone that takes such pride in their work ❤
What a beautiful painting. That child looks like he might blink any moment. What you do just amazes me.
Your restoration videos are already soothing and relaxing, but just now discovering you have past ASMR videos? I’m in heaven 🥹
Sometimes the ASMR version just hits different. Thank you!
I am just speechless. You have brought life back to this canvas. Amazing! Laurie

watching you paint over the tear until it disappears is like magic. such a wonderful video!!
Like cleaning a very messy child up right before grandma arrives then repairing the outfit she made for the child in a way that she doesn't notice. How rewarding! 👌✨️
Ah ... how beautiful to end the entire work of this beautiful child portrait with the dreamy beautiful music of Schubert's Ständchen Serenade.
Was looking for the name of this piece, I recognized it from a movie I watched a lot as a kid (Milo and Otis)

He said it's a boy.
Just a beautiful little film - not many words needed. Outstanding work, front and back. 😊
No matter how many times I see your videos, I will always marvel at the precision of the color matching during retouching, and how the few passes just magically blend the colors to perfection. So satisfying.
You bring things that mean a lot to people back to life.
Classical music and art restoration great way to start the morning. Beautiful job.
Love this video. Actions speak louder than words. Thank you Julian.
Magnificent! Your work is amazing! Thank you for sharing all the incredible works of art and bringing them back to life!!
i am in awe of this man’s precision and patience
This channel makes me happy
Yesssss these were one of the reasons I originally found your channel, I'm so glad it's back
Absolutely love the asmr version too!!
How will I fall asleep without your sultry narration
Don’t ever let you tube or any IT system take your voice away from you. Beautiful elegant work.
A darling little angel in heaven, I suspect. The music was perfect for this one.

So relaxing!
This brings peace to my heart 😌
The color matching and retouching on the skin is soooooo satisfying
Let's watch it again 😅
Hmmm what happened.....oh asmr version
Again?! 🙉
😳 oh . . .
That stuff I can't hear.
😁
💜
Ok
OK
Sure!

Yes! I’ve been wanting more asmr versions! I’ve listened to them all so many times now.
Thank you for the ASMR version, I’ve missed them!!!
My favorite coverup so far, nothing too drastic but completely hidden and natural
I was referred here from Tom Johnson's antique furniture restoration channel. You're both masters. One difference is he talks while working, whereas you sometimes play the piano.
my insomnia is only cured by asmr baumgartner and its been getting worse lately so this episode couldn't have come at a better time! thank u!!
Julian, i love this video. Just you doing your thing. No narration
Yes!! I missed these ASMR videos so much!
I missed the ASMR versions so much. I always go back and watch the other ones ❤
The ASMR Content, that I never thought about to need in my Life. What a wonderful Version. 😌😍

My husband is a Baumgartner. They are overachievers also. I love this, but I have to say it's a nail bitter. You do beautiful work!!
I must say this is one of your better restorations however they are all very good!
Love the asmr version! Please continue with them
You are amazing!!! I love this videos ASMR. Thanks for sharing . Positive vibration from México.
thank you for this video i love ASMR!!❤
Watched the original yesterday and now watching this while I get ready for work❤
Thanks, always impressed by your job, i m sure the painter would kiss you, you made his work greater! (Sorry i think in french and write english) Thanks a lot to share your art with us
Wow! What a stunning restoration. Really enjoyed this one.

When I see a painting that needs some help I find myself going "Baumgartner!"
I do too!!! It’s so nice listening to his thoughts. His insights are what make it special and I learn from him.
What a peaceful and intense one.
I do love your musical choices!
I love the collection of bandaid. My whole hands would be wrapped.
Good idea to have both versions

It's been a while, I still love the ASMR version, even though I do enjoy the explained version.
I couldn't believe it when I saw ASMR in the title!!! Time to curl up with headphones, a drink, and let the world outside this video fade away 😌🥰

with all due respect, your voice is also ASMR 🥰
Meraviglioso, un capolavoro 😍❤Grazie
He nailed the skin tone on the shoulder touch-up.
I am a fan of the commented versions, although you have learned us all so much already, I want t learn more 'cause every piece is so different!
I like both the old tyme version of non-narration and the newer version of narration! So if I had to pick which one I prefer, I would vote on both! It’s more revenue! Go for it!
OMG, I've missed the ASMR versions ❤
Beautiful work, Julien🥰🙏🥰
Absolutely beautiful! Bravo, Julian! Ken from Alabama
Always amazing work. 🥺
I feel (theoretically) like an expert. I knew more or less each step. Was great fun to comment by myself!😂😂
Great job!
Thank you! It is always a big inspiration to me!
I love asmr video! Love the music and the restorations
Is ASMR without Julian's voice truly ASMR?
What a wonderful video, I still love your voice overs, I can say as many will do on the comments... I mentally ran down the Julian tasks check list.. 😂
Thanks for the video, superb work as always.
I've watched some other restoration videos. Yours are the best. You do remarkably good work.
I was wondering, do you also paint yourself?
We love u're work.
Greetings from Romania!
Did I miss a before and after side by side photo? If there was one, what is the time stamp. The was remarkable how nasty that varnish was and how delightful the colours were at the end. Thank you for your most excellent and wonderful work. Quite liked this format too!
👏👏👏👏 Bravo Maestro!
I like the voice over.
Love both versions, but prefer this version ❤
Fantastice video! Loved this one ❤
do you ever feeling the paintings staring back at you while youre resorting them?
Very moving. ❤
I like the quiet versions.. but a little background on the painting would be nice
I saw this didn’t do well but people do love these asmr videos. I’d maybe consider an ASMR channel if this kind of video doesn’t take ages to produce
Magnificent piece of art and restoration
Love this ASMR version thank you! 🙂↕️

Beautiful
