Jinjer has quickly became one of my favourite bands of all time. Tatiana is totally self taught with her vocal techniques. 'Vortex' is their latest that gives a good outlook on what to expect in their new upcoming album which will be released Aug. 27th. A favourite song is hard to pick for me as they have so many different stuff, but songs like 'Ape', 'The Prophecy', 'Home Back' and 'Sit Stay Roll Over' are high in my rank. Another suggestion for a band to check out is VINTERSEA. Start with 'Crack of Light' to see/hear their full spectrum. I guess you will definitely like it.
You might want to check out either the official version of "Teacher, Teacher" or the live version of "Who is gonna be the one?". Then the studio versions of "Retrospection" and "Home Back", in that order.
lol u got really into this........jinjer one of the best metal bands out and pantera is one of their fav bands too........official video + live is a great route to go with them for future reactions....u can also check out their new single "vortex" they just released.
Very enjoyable. The double feature was great. :) They are touring the US this fall. Quite a few shows have sold out already though. I'm fortunate to have tickets to see them for a third time and wholeheartedly recommend seeing them if you can. Tatiana is mesmerizing and though they are headlining, as a band that is still up-and-coming coming they are playing intimate venues.
Great reaction Jacqueline. Yeah Jinjer is the first band that I instantly loved the first time I heard them since '83 when I first heard the band Queensryche. Tatiana is amazing, and I never liked growling/harsh vocals at all, still don't LOL, and I've been a metal head for over 40 years, but Tati is something special. The guys Eugene (bass), Roman (guitar) and Vlad (drums) are just phenomenal musicians, and they compliment each other so perfectly. Pit of Conciousness is actually my favorite Jinjer song, but if you want to continue to do double features with Jinjer, I'm gonna suggest On the Top (OMV) and On the Top (live in Kiev/Kyiv) and Perennial (OMV) and Perennial (Live at Wacken open Air 2019). Fun stuff! What a way to start your Jinjer Journey! Most people start with Pisces for the shock value of her starting off clean, and then going full blown Tatiana on them, but it was nice to see something else for a change. If you want more Jinjer, I suggest you check out Vortex, their latest release from their soon to be released album Wallflowers.

it you wish to go softer, Teacher Teacher, Perennial, I Speak Astronomy, Pisces... But, if you like this energy or would even like to go harder, and it sounds like that is what you like, than Ape, Cloud Factory, Sit Stay Roll, Home Back, Outlander, Vortex, Scissor....On Top, Judgment & Punishment, the Prophecy and a few others are in between their hard and their lite stuff....IMHO
Thanks for the great reaction, this band has become much more popular in the last few years. They have changed drummers a few times and chose to not replace a guitarist who has probably kicked himself in the ass multiple times since leaving. I love 95% of the songs, and the 5% that I enjoyed less have grown on me after multiple listens. My personal favorites... Scissors.... No hoard of value... Just Another... Outlander.... Who is gonna be the one, from the band's earlier work and seeing the band execute this well live is so impressive that words do it no justice. They have become a bit more progressive with the most recent albums, and Tatiana has a powerful magnetism that's undeniable onstage. Really tough to single out the newer tracks for reactions because I really enjoy all of them. Newest single, "Vortex"..."Home Back" studio work is flawless, Live is much more impressive considering all the technical complexity... Enjoy the journey

I love that you started with this song and did the official video and live in Kiev/Kyiv, I really hope you'll do the same with two of my other Jinjer favorites: Perennial (official and live at Wacken) and Judgement and Punishment (official and Tatiana's one take performance). Sorry for the long comment, I just love Jinjer too much! Some background on their composing style - for most of their songs, the three guys write most of the instrument music, then Tatiana writes most of the lyrics and melodies. Roman the guitarist has written a lot of the instrument music in the past, but Vlad the drummer (who also plays guitar and classical piano, but so far not in Jinjer songs) wrote the instrument music for nine of the eleven songs for the album about to drop on August 27th (Wallflowers). Eugene composes some, and I know that apart from his amazing work on the bass, he adds riffs and has written lyrics for a few Jinjer songs. The band (all members have been Ukrainian, with Russian their first language) started in eastern Ukraine in 2009 as a group of five with none of the current members (they consider the official start of the band as 2010 when Tatiana replaced the male vocalist and Roman joined as lead guitar), Vlad is the fifth drummer (joined in 2016) and it's been a group of four since 2015 (though they consider their sound engineer a fifth member). From what I've heard, I think they're still friends with all the former members. One of the things I love most about Jinjer is the messages in Tatiana's lyrics and the growling being so powerful for expressing the anger and pain in those messages: the anti-war message in Home Back, the anti-greed in On The Top and No Hoard Of Value (also the horror of the coal mining industry in their home Ukraine), the protest song Who Is Gonna Be The One, the anti-fascism of Sit Stay Roll Over, the anger at people being narrow minded in Teacher Teacher and Judgment & Punishment, the struggles with mental health in Pit Of Consciousness (as you saw) and Perennial, the giving voice to mother nature angry at humanity for destroying her in a bunch of songs like Ape, The Prophecy, Cloud Factory, Noah and Bad Water. Other favorites are I Speak Astronomy, Retrospection, Words of Wisdom, Just Another, Captain Clock, Scissors, Outlander, Exposed As A Liar, I Want It I'll Get It, A Plus Or A Minus, Dip A Sail, When Two Empires Collide, Beggar's Dance and lainnereP. Great review. As for me there're about 15 "must see/hear" Jinjer songs. And it's just my toplist, it doesn't include few of their popular tracks. In most cases they are better live, their live performances are more impressive then official videos or studio recordings. One of the reason - Tatiana's world class stage precense. You are right, she's not just singing (although she's singing live amazingly good). She's acting at the stage and her acting is just mesmerazing. By the way the live performance of "Pit of Consciousness" can't give you a full picture of Tatiana's stage presence, camera rarely catch her. Try "Who's Gonna Be The One" official live, it's more representative. Or many other performances. Additionally please pay an attention to lyrics. Tatiana is their main lyricist and she's brilliant in this field of creation too.
I love how most first reactions to Jinjer are when Tati starts soft, I thoroughly enjoyed especially the beginning how you had to just ride it out and accept it, she's a beeeeaaaaast. The whole band knows how to put on a damn show
Jacqueline, I'm glad you're discovering Jinjer. This band has a enviable history of ultra-high quality music. I've yet to find one bad song, and I have every CD & EP they've ever put out. The guys usually write the basic riffs. Tatiana provides melodic ideas and then writes almost all the lyrics. I suggest going back in time a little bit for their song "Outlander." You sound like me when I first heard them. Unreal. A couple great Live videos you could check out where she growls like a demon and are groovy as Hell are Words of Wisdom and Who is Gonna be the One. Both official Napalm records videos. They also just released the Vortex official video for the upcoming album "Wallflowers" Tati turns into Godzilla at the end of that song. Mind blowing. As for me there're about 15 "must see/hear" Jinjer songs. And it's just my toplist, it doesn't include few of their popular tracks.
In most cases they are better live, their live performances are more impressive then official videos or studio recordings. One of the reason - Tatiana's world class stage precense. You are right, she's not just singing (although she's singing live amazingly good). She's acting at the stage and her acting is just mesmerazing.
By the way the live performance of "Pit of Consciousness" can't give you a full picture of Tatiana's stage presence, camera rarely catch her. Try "Who's Gonna Be The One" official live, it's more representative. Or many other performances.
Additionally please pay an attention to lyrics. Tatiana is their main lyricist and she's brilliant in this field of creation too.
I love how most first reactions to Jinjer are when Tati starts soft, I thoroughly enjoyed especially the beginning how you had to just ride it out and accept it, she's a beeeeaaaaast. The whole band knows how to put on a damn show

Jacqueline, I'm glad you're discovering Jinjer. This band has a enviable history of ultra-high quality music. I've yet to find one bad song, and I have every CD & EP they've ever put out. The guys usually write the basic riffs. Tatiana provides melodic ideas and then writes almost all the lyrics. I suggest going back in time a little bit for their song "Outlander."
