When we first grew blueberries we couldn’t understand why we weren’t getting any fruit. It wasn’t until our very light cream coloured beautiful golden retriever came in from outdoors we realised what was happening. Her fur around her mouth was stained with blueberry juice we realised the plant was being raided by our dog. She has passed away now, bless her but when I think of that it always makes me smile. I do miss her but she bought such joy to our lives. Sorry to ramble on but when you were talking about your blueberries it reminded me. Lots blessing Becky and Josh xxx

Deer and elk eat blueberries in my yard. The birds love the berries, too. I've even seen rabbits standing on their hind legs below the bushes eating the berries. It's a miracle we get any berries. LOL
I actually love the “beige” colour. It makes the big airy house feel a bit more warm and cozy. It’s gunna be so homey feeling once all the furnishings are in 😍
Hi Becky! You made me realize that even though I only have a small balcony and cannot really plant much vegetables, I can still buy local produce and do all sorts of canning and preserving that way. Thank you for that and the encouragement!
Assuming a 3x8. Build a small gutter rack and hang it on the rail ... that should give you 2-3 rows and you can grow tons in that .. like 20-30 lettuce, radish, spinach, spices, you can do 2-3 potato bucket/bags, 1-2 tomato pots and depends if you want to sit outside ... you could just load it up 2x you can do bags as well and add a lattice up the side of the wall/patio window and do peas ... you'd be amazed at what you can stuff in a small space. BTW if you do try some of this ... use a 5 gallon pail to water ... much easier then a pitcher or something and if you want to do gentle watering you can just dip the cup into the bucket
@@serobinson1 I was just about to say that. Greenstalks are fantastic! I have three, got two on a bogo sale. You can grow practically anything in the original size greenstalk. I only have a patio and I have 3 Mr. Stacky's and 3 Greenstalks. My veggies are doing wonderful. Well the ones that weren't eaten anyway lol.

If you were in New Zealand, I'd say that a possum is eating your blueberries! I had mine decimated by them, and birds as well, so I threw old fine net curtains over the bushes, and clipped them together with clothes pegs! Worked a treat, and I got more blueberries than I'd ever had. It's been interesting watching your new home taking shape, it's amazing the difference a coat of paint makes! Good luck with settling in, you'll have fun setting yourselves up!
Yeah a possum got all of my blueberries. Unfortunately I didn't realise what the issue was until they'd done so much damage. I use old net curtains over bushes, strawberries, you name it. Maybe it's a kiwi thing.

Schedules. After 7 kids... Schedules are an unrealistic expectation for infants in my humble opinion. Following their rhythm as it unfolds, yeah. I'm all about throw the baby in the sling on your back and keep living otherwise nothing gets done 💕
Yeah she made me laugh for second time. One of my sibling-very A typed and when she was pregnant she sounded like Beck so much was going to get done. When I told wait until she arrives she got so mad and said you guys had a hard time, meaning me and other siblings, cause you’re not organized. When the baby was around eight months I got an apology and how did u guys do it - this is too hard and stressful. Thank God Beck has a huge family and great support plus works at home but she’ll get it once the blessing arrives.
Why do people assume when the baby arrives that someone's life is turned upside down. That is not true for many people. They are extra work but doesn't mean your life changes too much. For us, it was just icing on the cake. Our babies were easy. Their personalities were chill, and now as adults they still are. Not all babies are fussy and criers. Some mothers are totally unorganized, and others have a routine down to the second. I am a minimalist and a routine person, I still got a lot of things done. However, that would not of been the case if we had velcro children or really fussy babies. My husband set up a little tent outside or a pram, and they watched us garden. When they were older, they helped in the garden with their own garden patch. We included them in most things we did. Becky is obviously an energetic girl and probably gets more things done in a day than most people do in a week. That is who she is. She will find a way to navigate through all of this.
It's a lot of projection. People feel like their own life decisions (organization, relationships, kids) are lackluster, so they project their problems onto others.
We’ve never paid for packers but have paid for movers and that has always been money well spent. It’s so nice that you were able to have everything painted before you moved in too! Those projects are much harder to do once you have all your stuff moved in. :)
I like the rich green color in the bathroom! The wall color through out the house is timeless, you can use any color and texture with it and it won't compete with your art. I know you and Josh will be busy making this home your own. God bless all your endeavors! ❤

My best friend’s dog got out when they moved. It is a crazy time and they don’t understand what is going on. This house is awesome. You are going to be so happy raising your family here. I was just to my aunt’s yesterday with my mom. Her blueberry bushes were packed so full! My cousin helped her cover them with netting and that kept the birds from eating the berries as they ripened. Such fun!

I loved that you're taking us along for the journey of all the remodeling you guys are doing to the new house, it's looking great! I agree that either copper or black lighting fixtures for the green bathroom would look nice (: And I'm also loving to see all the donations you're giving for someone else to use and love, sometimes people think when they're done with using something it should just go to landfill trash but in fact it could be recycled and loved by others and not pollute our planet so thank you for the donations you have made
after the dust settles you may want to consider adding 'ceilling' molding throughout the house - that adds the 'cherry on top of the ice cream soda' in making a house look absolutely elegant.
Love how the paint colours look now it's done. The beige tones down the orange in that kitchen office area and that green is beautiful. I think copper/brushed brass would give it an old-timey look which would match the dresser but the black would be more modern. I prefer brass but it depends what style you are after. We've always taken the DIY approach to moving house and I've seen a few people use movers/packers now and it looks like it's worth the cost if you've got a lot of stuff, they did a good job by the looks of it. We'll have to consider it for next time. Happy new home!
I love the green around the tub and the window seat in the bathroom on the bottom. It just brings it all together. Look at it again it just makes the room look so cohesive.

Talking about packers packing everything... Hubby & I moved with packers and they even packed a trashcan full of trash!! thank goodness it was only paper stuff!!! I'm so glad I had my dog at my Mom's because I think they would have shoved paper in his mouth & up his butt and packed him too!! NOTHING was safe!!!! It's great that you got rid of so much unneeded stuff and didn't move it to the new house. SO SO SO MUCH better without that half wall!!! The green bathroom is beautiful!!! And love the whole house color!! It will look so much better once you add in your pictures and other colors from furniture, etc. to break up the solidness of it.... You have such a wonderful family!!!
A beautiful light beachy sage green would look incredible on that lower wall in the bathroom. My dad loves green & painted our downstairs bathroom a beautiful pine color then added a sage color to the wood below the window bench & lower cabinets & it made a beautiful accent which made the bathroom look & feel so much bigger.

My husband was in the military and when he retired and started his second career, we still kept moving with the company so the last one in Colorado to Texas was ,as usual, by myself with the kids. He goes first and keeps on working. We had a 7 bedroom and 6000 square foot house. The movers wanted to charge us 20,000 to pack and move. If we packed ourselves then it was 10. Well, I had kids to put thru college and I decided to pack ourselves. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Plus we had an rv and a 3 cars and a tractor. But it felt good when we paid college tuition and the pocketbook didn’t feel so light!

I was always used to the fireplace being the heart/focus of the living room. Having the couch sort of around it with a smaller tv above it.. or you could put the couch over where the weird wall thing was so you see the view, fireplace and tv 😉 I’m not there so idk how those ideas would pan out.. & I probably shouldn’t suggest anything by the looks of my house 🤣🤣🤣 Eh, just a thought. I absolutely love the kitchen and the pantry! That pantry is a game changer‼️ Oh, and the green paint looks so awesome! If you're not using a maid/cleaning service, you may want to consider that. I pay for a monthly cleaning service and it's totally worth it. I don't have much time for cleaning so it's great to have someone else do it for me. And the cleaning service team girls are so friendly and do a great job.

The colours you have chosen are fantastic. When you said green for bathroom, I was like okay, but as soon as I seen it I fell in love with it. Great choices! With the bathroom lights definitely go brass, or brushed gold, as it will brighten where as black will be lost.

your going to appreciate the cabinets in your laundry room. I keep cleaning supplies extras high in cabinets in my laundry room so nothing poisonous or dangerous is low where little hands can reach!

Before owning my house, I lived in an apartment. This apt was awesome, but it was still not mine. Despite that I lived 5 years of my life in that place. It was a part of me. I had an emotional breakdown when we moved. It was a lot of feelings that I did not know how to deal with. The excitement of buying my house. The fear of not making it work. The depression of leaving my living space for 5 years. The only other breakdown I had was going to college. Regardless, it was a moment, to me that was so full of feelings that couldn't be dealt with in one day. I lost what felt like a part of myself, while gaining a better and more permanent status in life. Just a life story of moving. I haven't been following you long Becky, but I am so happy for your journey in life, that is taking you in many directions, and still keep yourself on the same path.
0:34 my mum had a funny stories from the 60's when they had hired packers. As she was opening up her new kitchen, they had packed the garbage. So she had some pretty sticking garbage to deal with! Lol

Because the wall below the tub is the wall that gets dirty first the green will not show dirt as easily. How wonderful that you had packers & Josh’s Mom & Grandmother to help. I am so excited for you! The first night in a new house is always unnerving and thrilling and a relief all at once. The paint looks amazing! Especially in the green bathroom. And I absolutely love how Josh set up the painting on the easel. It fits that corner so we'll and matches the fireplace so well.
I am right there with you girl- I moved all the way from NYC to Illinois and i regret not getting someone to clean the house before we moved into it. I took me a while to just clean the carpets and after driving 14 hours to get to our new home, i was beyond exhausted!!!!!!! What a blessing to have help :)

As a house cleaner....copper in a bathroom is going to get that green petina and you will only scratch up the copper trying to get it off. If you are matching to faucets chrome is easiest and looks the best when clean! Love the green!

Congratulations on moving! Looks like it is going smoothly so far. The paint turned out really well. As for your bathroom fixtures question, my opinion is to match what you have going on in other bathrooms and the kitchen. The base for the light fixtures should probably be the same size or larger if they weren't removed for painting. It would suck to buy new lights and then realize you need to patch up the paint job!

Schedules. After 7 kids... Schedules are an unrealistic expectation for infants in my humble opinion. Following their rhythm as it unfolds, yeah. I'm all about throw the baby in the sling on your back and keep living otherwise nothing gets done 💕
Yeah she made me laugh for second time. One of my sibling-very A typed and when she was pregnant she sounded like Beck so much was going to get done. When I told wait until she arrives she got so mad and said you guys had a hard time, meaning me and other siblings, cause you’re not organized. When the baby was around eight months I got an apology and how did u guys do it - this is too hard and stressful. Thank God Beck has a huge family and great support plus works at home but she’ll get it once the blessing arrives.

Why do people assume when the baby arrives that someone's life is turned upside down. That is not true for many people. They are extra work but doesn't mean your life changes too much. For us, it was just icing on the cake. Our babies were easy. Their personalities were chill, and now as adults they still are. Not all babies are fussy and criers. Some mothers are totally unorganized, and others have a routine down to the second. I am a minimalist and a routine person, I still got a lot of things done. However, that would not of been the case if we had velcro children or really fussy babies. My husband set up a little tent outside or a pram, and they watched us garden. When they were older, they helped in the garden with their own garden patch. We included them in most things we did. Becky is obviously an energetic girl and probably gets more things done in a day than most people do in a week. That is who she is. She will find a way to navigate through all of this.
It's a lot of projection. People feel like their own life decisions (organization, relationships, kids) are lackluster, so they project their problems onto others.
Looks awesome! I recommend using small pieces of painters tape where the painters need to touch up so they know what to fix.
We’ve never paid for packers but have paid for movers and that has always been money well spent. It’s so nice that you were able to have everything painted before you moved in too! Those projects are much harder to do once you have all your stuff moved in. :)
I like the rich green color in the bathroom! The wall color through out the house is timeless, you can use any color and texture with it and it won't compete with your art. I know you and Josh will be busy making this home your own. God bless all your endeavors! ❤
I love the green paint! This is a total surprise to me. I didn’t think I would like it. I just love it! You are so smart to have your dogs stay with a nanny. My best friend’s dog got out when they moved. It is a crazy time and they don’t understand what is going on. This house is awesome. You are going to be so happy raising your family here. I was just to my aunt’s yesterday with my mom. Her blueberry bushes were packed so full! My cousin helped her cover them with netting and that kept the birds from eating the berries as they ripened. Such fun!

I absolutely love the bathroom! When you first showed that dark green I was like oh no that's going to be too dark and look awful, I would never choose that. I was wrong! I agree that either copper or black lighting fixtures for the green bathroom would look nice (: And I'm also loving to see all the donations you're giving for someone else to use and love, sometimes people think when they're done with using something it should just go to landfill trash but in fact it could be recycled and loved by others and not pollute our planet so thank you for the donations you have made
Id suggest doing copper door handles and sconces due to the antibacterial properties of copper.
after the dust settles you may want to consider adding 'ceilling' molding throughout the house - that adds the 'cherry on top of the ice cream soda' in making a house look absolutely elegant.

Love how the paint colours look now it's done. The beige tones down the orange in that kitchen office area and that green is beautiful. I think copper/brushed brass would give it an old-timey look which would match the dresser but the black would be more modern. I prefer brass but it depends what style you are after.
We've always taken the DIY approach to moving house and I've seen a few people use movers/packers now and it looks like it's worth the cost if you've got a lot of stuff, they did a good job by the looks of it. We'll have to consider it for next time.

I love the green around the tub and the window seat in the bathroom on the bottom. It just brings it all together. Look at it again it just makes the room look so cohesive.

I love the color! It makes me want to repaint some more of our walls. We built our own home 22 years ago and I must say it was stressful, but so enjoyable at the same time. You guys are rocking it in putting your hand into making it your own! I'm excited to see the finished product!👍

Talking about packers packing everything... Hubby & I moved with packers and they even packed a trashcan full of trash!! thank goodness it was only paper stuff!!! I'm so glad I had my dog at my Mom's because I think they would have shoved paper in his mouth & up his butt and packed him too!! NOTHING was safe!!!! It's great that you got rid of so much unneeded stuff and didn't move it to the new house. SO SO SO MUCH better without that half wall!!! The green bathroom is beautiful!!! And love the whole house color!! It will look so much better once you add in your pictures and other colors from furniture, etc. to break up the solidness of it.... You have such a wonderful family!!!

A beautiful light beachy sage green would look incredible on that lower wall in the bathroom. My dad loves green & painted our downstairs bathroom a beautiful pine color then added a sage color to the wood below the window bench & lower cabinets & it made a beautiful accent which made the bathroom look & feel so much bigger.

Wow. You are so blessed that you got help. My husband was in the military and when he retired and started his second career, we still kept moving with the company so the last one in Colorado to Texas was ,as usual, by myself with the kids. He goes first and keeps on working. We had a 7 bedroom and 6000 square foot house. The movers wanted to charge us 20,000 to pack and move. If we packed ourselves then it was 10. Well, I had kids to put thru college and I decided to pack ourselves. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Plus we had an rv and a 3 cars and a tractor. But it felt good when we paid college tuition and the pocketbook didn’t feel so light!

For your bathroom light fixtures - matte black. The rule is 'same function, same finish', so it's okay to do mixed finishes!

I was always used to the fireplace being the heart/focus of the living room. Having the couch sort of around it with a smaller tv above it.. or you could put the couch over where the weird wall thing was so you see the view, fireplace and tv 😉

If you're not using a maid/cleaning service, you may want to consider that. I pay for a monthly cleaning service and it's totally worth it. I don't have much time for cleaning so it's great to have someone else do it for me. And the cleaning service team girls are so friendly and do a great job.

Before owning my house, I lived in an apartment. This apt was awesome, but it was still not mine. Despite that I lived 5 years of my life in that place. It was a part of me. I had an emotional breakdown when we moved. It was a lot of feelings that I did not know how to deal with. The excitement of buying my house. The fear of not making it work. The depression of leaving my living space for 5 years. The only other breakdown I had was going to college. Regardless, it was a moment, to me that was so full of feelings that couldn't be dealt with in one day. I lost what felt like a part of myself, while gaining a better and more permanent status in life. Just a life story of moving.
I haven't been following you long Becky, but I am so happy for your journey in life, that is taking you in many directions, and still keep yourself on the same path.

Not sure if someone mentioned it already but birds love the heck out of our blueberries. Ever since we started using bird netting all over the bushes, its been a game changer. Learned that from Jame pigrioni’s channel! Hope that helps 😊
Good morning Becky, I love the beige walls. The bathroom is gorgeous. I wouldn’t change that green to white. I think it look so clean & fresh. Live with it a while then you can change it later. Because the wall below the tub is the wall that gets dirty first the green will not show dirt as easily. How wonderful that you had packers & Josh’s Mom & Grandmother to help. With paint, the color is always is darker on the wall than it is on the sample or in the can.

I am right there with you girl- I moved all the way from NYC to Illinois and i regret not getting someone to clean the house before we moved into it. I took me a while to just clean the carpets and after driving 14 hours to get to our new home, i was beyond exhausted!!!!!!! What a blessing to have help :)

As a house cleaner....copper in a bathroom is going to get that green petina and you will only scratch up the copper trying to get it off. If you are matching to faucets chrome is easiest and looks the best when clean! Love the green!

Congratulations on moving! Looks like it is going smoothly so far. The paint turned out really well. As for your bathroom fixtures question, my opinion is to match what you have going on in other bathrooms and the kitchen. The base for the light fixtures should probably be the same size or larger if they weren't removed for painting. It would suck to buy new lights and then realize you need to patch up the paint job!
