    Interesting gift idea, but man those 1.5" magnets are expensive...

      Thanks for watching, Tom! Yeah, I know. The magnets can get pricey especially when you only want to buy just one or two.

      Right? I thought they were too expensive.

    That's a great idea. I've seen many similar projects, but not with the magnets. I really like it! Thanks for the links, but my question is... how much do you charge for one of these? The reason I ask is because spriis coming up and I'm setting up my building schedule. Since Ive never made/sold them, I don't know where to begin or what the average is for that, and made our of those woods.

      At my first craft fair I sold them for $35. I sold just a few that weekend. When I sold it for $25 I would sell about a dozen units a day. The key is to really shop around for the magnets as they’re the most expensive portion of the build. Best of luck to you.

    Hi, I was wondering if I can ask you for some help? I made a few of these, but I painted mine and I also painted a logo on them but in order to protect the logo from getting scratched from the bottle caps, I tried to seal it with brushing on some poly, I was wondering what you would suggest I seal one of these with that is painted with a painted logo? I like the idea of mounting on the fridge, but does it scratch it at all? Thank you.

      Even several coats of poly will eventually get worn through from the caps. Maybe try a coat of two-part epoxy? That’s probably your most durable choice. And the trick to not scratching the fridge is to set the magnets a hair below the wood. The wood is much easier on the fridge than the metal of the magnets. Thanks for watching and reaching out!

      @@quillwoodworks sorry to bug just had one more question. I usually make a vinyl decal which I put over as a template and then I spray paint the logo. Do you think it would be better to use a vinyl decal and then seal that instead of painting the logo?

    • @quillwoodworks
      @quillwoodworks  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think a painted logo with some wear on it would look better (a bit of rustic look) than a sticker with wear on it.

    Such a simple project and very well presented 👍 will be added to my list of things to make after Ive sourced some magnets 🧲 here in the UK.

    This project reminded me of Woody Hyezmar's Bible somehow…, although you can currently get it at no cost, the projects are worth a good look. Maybe try go’ogling his latest.
