So I am going to try one of the HVLP guns and see how that works. But I am also thinking about an picking up a used Iwata or a used Sata B RP 5000 for $410 shipped. I do not have much of an exhaust system so I am wanting a gun that will keep the overspray down to a minimal level so I can see what I am doing. LOL! And since I don't want to spend a bunch of money buying 2 or 3 more guns with different tips what tip do you recommend for general all around universal use? And would the LVLP work better than the HVLP? I pretty much always wet sand and buff so does the tip really matter? My old JGA 502 uses a 30 tip. So if someone stole all your guns and you needed to start all over what gun and with what tip would you buy? Thanks Triggerman any advice would be greatly appreciated. I am too "old school."

@@thetriggerman954 question if I may. At the start of this video, the Civic's paint looks heavy (thick) and kinda cheap. To my untrained eyes, it looks similar to an inexpensive single stage. Sata jet 90 was the first clear gun i learned on. My first gun i purchased rt out of voc school 2001. I ended up buying another. Yes the jet 90 was the Cadillac back in the day. It was considered a hoser. We ran them way higher than 20 psi for clear. More in the air than on the panel, lol itll bust that syrup up for sure. Nr2000 for base back then
Damn there was a box full off those old Sata jets at my old work. All cleaned and retired lol.. I should have tried one but I never had the nerve to get it out. A big shout out for Triggerman. I got my binks #7 for free back in the day. This high end body shop did some crappy work on my ride so I loaded up my trunk with their air tools and a binks #7. That binks worked good on primer and base paint.

😂😂😂 brah I thoroughly enjoyed this post. I had and believe still have my binks and stopped using it when the GL2000 clear came out. I really never gave the expensive guns much thought cause when I started in the game I witnessed to many outstanding paint jobs accomplished through preparation and technique. There was no light on the guns and to be real there were as much in the market as there is today. So while in my mind it's to eaches own but know need in my arsenal for 8-1000 spray guns. And by the that lex was looking like glass so and I seen that pattern 👍🏽oldschool for the win. Love my MATCO 🤛🏾

Look at that coverage! That's like a garden hose. I like seeing old school guns in action. I got an old Binks knock-off and an old Snap-On siphon feed that has a built-in pressure gauge that pops out like a tire pressure gauge. There is a guy on youtubes here that still uses the Binks no 7 for most if his paint jobs. Quite the fog machine, but gets the results. Ok, gotta go check out your Grant 7 video👍
I made a grip of money with a Jet90. Moved onto the 95 and never looked back. It was nicer to have no plastic gaskets in the old Sata guns. I've still got some 95's and my OG DeVilbiss JGA Hell yeah I used retarder. No more over here in sunny CA.

Hey Triggerman, I'm an old timer. Been painting for 55 years. Back in the day we were spraying your favorite single stage. This was enamel and we didn't have hardener. To help with the paint viscosity we would heat it up on a hot plate. It would take a couple of days to dry and when you were done you felt like a piece of sticky tape yourself. lol. We had lots of siphon spray guns, DeVilbiss #30 Binks #7. My number 7 even had an air agitator for the metalics. Did you ever spray on the old vinyl tops? We had a special gun for that, today they call it orange peel. Like the content keep up the good work.
Man I've seen the Binks with the agitator for the metallics. Dam that's a flash back for real. And yes I've sprayed a few vinyl tops but I didn't use any special gun The final tops aspirate already had the texture in there so it was basically a scuff apply adhesion promoter then the color. All that stuff was fun man 🥳🥳 good ole days. Thank you for chiming in man and salute to you veteran painters 🫡 much respect and appreciation from The Triggerman 🤜🏼🤛🏼
@@thetriggerman954 Triggerman the vinyl roofs I'm talking about replicated the vinyl. You sprayed them in place of the vinyl. You would zinc chromate the steel top, epoxy or jet seal (a rust inhibitor) and spray. The special gun made it look textured like real vinyl. Saved the time of spraying glue and trimming and fitting a real vinyl top. You had to be there, I guess. Crazy stuff. Lol.
Bro this is a sign I need to use the 1.4 90 I just got more often. I just rewatched your other video about it today... we need to see this gun more 🙏 What settings do you recommend for it?

Yea TE20 that's my fav cap I have the T110 but it's slow. That TE20 knocks them out 💪🏼 man I never even tried a 4000rp that's probably why I never hear about them dog shit like you said 🤠
I'm not sure the exact measurements but I tell you one thing I've painted complete full size school buses inside of the booth with the door closed It barely fit but if that'll give you some type of idea on how big It is.
@@thetriggerman954 Man that's cool! I built my own booth but it cant fit no school bus. It is 23 feet 8 inches by 13 feet 1 inch But is can hold a full size extended cab long bed chevy truck. And that's good enough for me. Your booth looks to be about the same 13 feet wide but maybe 30 feet long? That school bus must have been quite the chore! P.S. I LOVE all your videos! You really are a GREAT painter! But if I were you being in FL I would install a through the wall AC unit if only to keep the sweat off the fresh paint.

That's right brother get them clowns talking all that nonsense if an gun atomizes good and dose the job what dose it mater the name of it lol!! I've been using the black widow hte and I love how it sprays for me! Have you done an video on that gun?
That's right my man, no I've never done a vid on that gun. I went into Harbor freight for a socket and I saw the gun it was $250 I was like dam I thought Harbor freight only carried $25 guns 😂 But I've heard nothing but good things about it so it must be a pretty good gun. I heard it atomizes great not the fastest gun but atomized is great and lays down in nice finish which is all that matters. 💪🏼
@thetriggerman954 yah it dose great and I like that it's not so fast at putting it down cause I think it gives the novice painters and begainers ease of use tell they learn hand speed techniques and get more comfortable plus I think the hte is also designed that way cause from my research it's supposed to transfer more material to the panels vs overspray than hvlp but spray faster than an lvlp?
@@wrightsrrt871 yea that's true good point. It would be ideal for beginners then once they get the hang of it move up to faster guns. Smart 🤓 💪🏼 a cannon in the wrong hands could be deadly 🤯

I'll never sell it. Its perfect for full paint jobs. Don't forget, alot of the paint we spray was designed like 30 years ago. Example PPG DBC , so these older guns work very well still.
They sure do still work well. No seals to go bad just pure awesomeness 🤙🏼😜
Wow that gun covered that base like an avalanche 😂.But smooth
Old school is KING 👑
Great video Trigger Man👍 I would say the Sata K3 would keep up. But, it’s a pressure feed gun from about the same era. It’s like painting with a pressure washer 😂 But, it puts it down smooth as silk.
Not the pressure washer 😂😂😂 man I haven't used a pressure pot gun in for ever. Painting Boar's Head trailers. I don't miss those days.
Did you use the K3 Sata? It’s a fantastic spray gun if you’re doing something big.

@@thetriggerman954 question if I may. At the start of this video, the Civic's paint looks heavy (thick) and kinda cheap. To my untrained eyes, it looks similar to an inexpensive single stage. Binks 7 was top of the line in the day. I took me a couple of years before I could buy a Binks 7. I had a couple; lol I recall you needed a good fan. The 7 would put allot of spray in the air could not see much. Come a long way with spray booths. Paint is much better guns also. You got this working for you .
I bought a Binks7 used in 1997 but I was stolen out of my car 😭 I used it like 5 times. "Legendary" 🏆
my first gun was an AID Model 2 it cost me £2.00 back in 1973 i bought it off the funeral Directors next to the Garage i worked at it was hanging on the wall covered in dust, the guy said they used to spray the coffins with it. I cleaned it up and it sprayed perfect. The first new gun i bought was a Binks barracuda 230 then the first gravity gun was a Sata Jet 90 now i use a 3m which i bought of ebay and a sata 5000 which i also bought of the bay I've used satas and Devilbiss I've never had any other makes though love the vids.

I have a Sata jet 90-2. Was marketed as a sealer gun back in the day,
Yes I remember that one. My friend has 2 of them. It's a colored gun right? It's not the chrome like the jet 90 correct?
Sata jet 90 was the first clear gun i learned on. My first gun i purchased rt out of voc school 2001. I ended up buying another. Yes the jet 90 was the Cadillac back in the day. It was considered a hoser. We ran them way higher than 20 psi for clear. More in the air than on the panel, lol itll bust that syrup up for sure. Nr2000 for base back then
Yes sir sure was the Cadillac 😄 it's still a Cadillac just an outdated one 😭 I left vocational in 98 so we around the same time 🤜🏼🤛🏼💪🏼

Lol.
Was nibbling and polish done by hand no machine?
