Christmas Carol is my favorite Christmas story and I had no idea there was a different version of the tale made by Rod Serling. Thank you so much for showing this ❤
First saw this movie on Turner Classics about ten years ago. It’s been a personal favorite ever since. It’s great to see this gem get some recognition.
With the amount of love and care and respect that you have for Rod Serling and his work, not just the Twilight Zone, but all forms. I really implore you doing to giving a serious try to becoming an official thing Rod Serling historian with credits and credentials. I don't know how to start that. If anyone seems to be a primary source of information, it's you.
Thank you so much for showing parts of this film. I saw it when it was televised. I mostly remember Sellers and this whole Scene. And I thought, this will never happen. It already did in Germany, Russia, and Italy. Megalomaniacs are the same down through the ages. Sellers’ extreme narcissism fits right in with today, doesn’t it? Goldwater was drop in the ocean compared to what we have now👹👹👹👹 I think you’re wrong about this being dated! Totally. A Christmas Carol is an everlasting tale - as you can see in this film that the all the basic events are the same, including the two children. There are many films about Scrooge, including this one. It’s history and should not be forgotten. 🙅🏻♀️🙅🏽🙅🏾♂️🙇🏼♀️🙇🏾🙇🏿♂️
Rod's stories may've come across as too preachy and/or sentimental at times, but they always had great production values. Well, except maybe for the wind-up Michelin man that terrorized Agnes Moorhead in "The Invaders" (S2 E15 of TTZ).
new information, presented well and efficiently . I hope I'm not falling for an AI narrator, but regardless , you have my sub and hope that your channel grows
Finally got to see this when it aired on TCM back in 2012 and thought it was an amazing film! One thing that stuck out for me was Steve Lawrence's performance in the movie -- he was excellent! He really should have had an extensive acting career.
Growing up with Steve and Edie on all the variety shows and talk show and specials, he was just like Steve Allen and his wife, always there and always charming. My youth, their sunset years.
Shocked there's not more terrified people because we are THERE..this is the future. I honestly cannot even understand how people didn't seem to think this through! It's like suddenly finding out you live in a country of people with early onset Alzheimer's and traumatic brain injury 😒. Great video though. Thank you.❤
Thank you very much for this video! I never heard of this movie. And I think, with all the isolationalist tendencies in today's world, the message is just as important.
Henry Mancini did the song "Carol for Another Christmas" for this. If that is mentioned, sorry for being redundant. Haven't watched the whole video yet. 😂
The fear of One World Government is dumbest when you consider the same fear doesn't exist for One National Government, One State Government, One County Government, or One City Government. If we can defeat authoritarians at the national level, why wouldn't we be able to at the Global level?
I do see some rhyming with what is going on today. Particularly the "Me" character would reflect a certain president elect who is going to take office in January 2025 and a certain "first buddy" who for the moment is working with him. The negative reactions and Adlai Stevenson being roughed up in Texas show that stupidity existed back then.
Ok, I did like others here, watched the intro of yours then went and watched the whole movie. Besides being Rod at his absolute most preachy, right there with the boxing episode and George Takie episode of Twilight Zone. The Takaie one was so preachy it too was banned from TV for practically forever. But here's the thing with this movie. Besides being over the top political, what really hurt it was Scrooge, I mean "Grudge" (yeah, subtle as cactus for a wedding gift), was not played for any sympathy at all. He was clearly the bad guy and when delivering his lines of reason, they were delivered so stoically or "get off my yard" fashion you never liked the guy. Scooge is supposed to be mean but because of a lot really big mistakes he made along the way. He was never a bad guy, he was just cold from all the heartache. Grudge on the other hand was just a card board cut out of what would be the stereotype of a Nixon or Trump supporter, and a stereotype that was so far off the mark that like this guy, he is as believable as a real character as two MAGA guys in sub temperatures chasing down Jussie Smullette.
I see why this pissed off people.. 1964 it was a lot of racial tension in the world especially in America at the time.. I can see why it got buried as a loss classic and not seen much sense.. you can show this today and it will still be very revelant in the world
Serling repeating and hammering statistics and facts were effective in 1964. After the 2024 Election, it's obvious that Compassion, Empathy and Love....LOST. The USA and planet embracing fascism once again validates the need for this Lost Episode to be shown repeatedly.
Brain dead? Look in the mirror sometime. Who were the brain dead really? The Trump supporters or the people who believed every media lie conjured about him day after day and year after year. 90 percent of the complaints about Trump are all based on provable - easily provable lies. Now that's brain dead.
If the us didnt force japan out of islation it wouldn't have become strong enough through trade to make an imperial force with the means to make ww2 possible
Check out the full movie right here on TH-cam! Have you seen it? What are your thoughts?

Christmas Carol is my favorite Christmas story and I had no idea there was a different version of the tale made by Rod Serling. Thank you so much for showing this ❤

This was a great version of a Christmas carol such great actors who were famous and would be famous I really love this movie
I remember seeing Carol for Another Christmas when it was first broadcast.
Thanks for the deep dive into this very timely classic.
Walter, I am so glad I joined this channel. Great video as always. Going to definitely check this out. Great work as always. Keep it up!
Thanks!
Please make it into a Twilight Zone episode!
Yay! glad to see you covering this! (bookmarking to watch after work)
I first watched it last Christmas Eve, I loved it, i especially like Rod Serling’s politics- and the surprise Peter Sellers appearance
I remember watching that a long time ago. 🎄

His stories certainly make you think 🤔 I love the twilight zone.
Sterling Hayden lived a life that would fill several movies..

Everything, EVERYTHING man has created in good faith eventually gets corrupted.
Rod’s work is always good with a moral or timeless twist that stands true today
Or go in a anthology direction with sci-fi and thriller elements
I would definitely be interested in this experiment, regarding adapting this into a TZ style episode.
Somebody did it to Planet of the Apes, since he did that one too, and they cut it into 25 minutes and it so worked.
Ahh an early Christmas present 🙏
Enjoy!🎁
Thank you

He was constantly on TV so he wasn't shy of cash flow.
It took me till last year to honestly appreciate Steve Lawrence, who was much more versatile than Frank Sinatra (his mentor, unsurprisingly).
Growing up with Steve and Edie on all the variety shows and talk show and specials, he was just like Steve Allen and his wife, always there and always charming. My youth, their sunset years.
Well, we elected The Royal Me.Thats a thing.

For heaven's sake, why didn't you just air the show? It would have been much more interesting to hear what they were saying instead of your analysis.
Huh? Why don’t you go watch the movie? It’s here on TH-cam.
Interesting how Rod so completely predicted Trump and his brain dead followers with the Sellers character. He was a genuine genius.
