    Thank you so much for this video! I don’t know what I would have done without it. I heard a snap in my dryer and the drum stopped spinning. Turns out, it was the white tensioner pulley that broke. I purchased replacement parts for $30! Added bonus, I was able to really deep clean the guts of the dryer since I took it all apart. You save me, I’m sure, hundreds of dollars. Much thanks!!

    Excellent video - thank you so much. I thought that I might as well replace the belt while I was doing the tensioner. Because I had the front off, I was able to tape the belt in place on the drum and then lay the dryer on it’s front so I could stand and see inside the hole while putting the belt over the tensioner. My unit had just the tiny hole for one arm only. I was also able to replace the tensioner arm fnother 50 cents to put bearings in the pulley. Mine was burned halfway through after five years of use. Thanks again.

    Tensioner Tip - great video... i watched it as I was changing the vent to the left side (rather than the center) - adding the left turn pipe made that hole tensioner fiasco much harder (plus I have the model with the small hole!).
    What I did was drill two small holes on the side of the washer and ran cable ties to hold the tensioner back while I positioned the belt, then cut / removed the cable ties... made things SUPER easy!

    • @becausestuffbreaks

      Awesome! Thanks for the info. I also have a video showing how to do it from the front and it was a lot easier, I thought.

      @@becausestuffbreakswhere is it. How did you get your two hands to pull the pulley into place. I am baffled. Im having a hard time strexhing the pulley into place. I replaced the whole pulley set.

    Excellent how to video! You helped me through mine and its a different model but all the disassembly was the same. Unfortunately I have to do the idler arm as well because the plastic pulley on it broke. I imagine they make the new belts a tad too tight and they need to be broken in like a new pair of work boots to fit perfectly. Thanks again!

    • @becausestuffbreaks
      @becausestuffbreaks  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep. My new belt was very tight and squeaked for several loads before it got broke in. I had replaced the belt tensioner pulley shortly before this repair.

    Thanks.. I've had to replace the idler pulley before, but this was a good refresher on how to get into the dryer because it's making noises now like it's gonna die any second! Looks like I'm going to need to figure out what to order!!

      @SteveJones172pilot 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@becausestuffbreaks Thanks - I would use your link, but when I went to look at the dryer, I found the box of parts I had bought last time, and I still have 2 wheels, a new belt, and the idler pulley, although no spring.. all left from last time, with an amazon slip dated 2018! I guess I only had to replace the spring last time, I dont remember! Ironically, the funny noise it was making before has now stopped, and it's running fine again, so I guess I'll be waiting to see what breaks before taking this thing apart! I am not looking forward to squeezing back there to disconnect and then reconnect the exhaust!

    • @becausestuffbreaks
      @becausestuffbreaks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Could be the tensioner. Here's my video showing what the dryer was doing when my tensioner went bad and how to change it: th-cam.com/video/ilF-H8YnFSM/w-d-xo.html

  • @irenewiebelt2497

    Hi I tried replacing the belt but it's so tight I can only get it around tensioner it doesn't reach the other side. I tried for hours I'm exhausted. The spring is so tight. When I watch the videos it looks like an elastic band mine doesn't budge. Thx did I do something wrong?

    • @becausestuffbreaks
      @becausestuffbreaks  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe. I had the same problem with it being tight in the video. You can also access it from the front if you watch other videos. You can also take the front off and that will let the drum down and give you some slack. Make sure it's not twisted on the drum. Also make sure it is in the correct place that it rides on the drum. Make sure it's routed correctly and not snagged on something like the heating element.

    My Samsung dryer doesn't have a removable plate in the back, just a hole big enough for the exhaust pipe. Therefore, pushing back the tension pulley and looping the belt around the drive pulley was a one-handed exercise after memorizing where and how everything went. I hope they added the removable plate after discovering the poor design, but part of me is thinking they removed the plate to cut costs.
