    Thank you for these excellent instructions. This is exactly what happened to our dryer. With being unemployed due to COVID-19, we are having to pinch every penny and your video showed me how to fix our dryer for the cost of the part, $25 locally. A repairman would have been at least $200 so thanks again!

    Thank you soooo much! We purchase a 4 year old Samsung Dryer (different model) off of Kijiji, got it home and it started making this exact sound. (previous owner was NOT upfront with the condition of the unit). This video was so well done and other people were saying it was just as easy as it looked so my hubby and I thought we'd give it a try. Purchased the part on Amazon for less than $20, and put in the new one in less than 20 mins. I saw other videos where they took the whole dryer apart. This way was MUCH easier. Thanks for all the $$ saved.

    Justin you absolutely saved me with this video. My dryer no longer squeaks! My only problem was...well two problems...first, where you have that nifty big removable access panel on the back of your machine, the back of mine is solid sheet metal with just the small round cutout hole for the exhaust pipe. Yikes! So I had to cut my own "service hole" to the right of the exhaust outlet hole. I cut it open with my angle grinder, one of my favorite tools because of all the sparks and destruction and noise that it makes. Fun-scary, always gets the adrenaline going. Anyways...my second problem was that I just did not have the wrist strength to get the belt back over the pulley once the arm was in. You make it look easy, but it's not with damaged wrists. Fortunately, my son was able to get the belt on. And Wah Lah! no more squeaky belt! Thank you so much.

    • @becausestuffbreaks
      @becausestuffbreaks  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad I could help! I love the idea of cutting your own service hole with an angle grinder. I'm currently waiting on a new motor for mine. One of the feedback relays in the motor isn't working and causing it to not heat. I'll be making at least 4 new videos for this dryer just because I have to take the whole thing apart. It was a tricky one to troubleshoot because there is NO information or troubleshooting videos/guides showing that a feedback contact in the motor can cause it not to heat. And the dryer doesn't show a fault. It's basically there to tell the control board the motor is running, so it's ok to turn on the heating element. You might have this problem next! Thanks for watching!

    • @bobganz3127
      @bobganz3127 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@becausestuffbreaks Good luck taking this thing apart! When I saw that I didn't have a service panel, I tried taking the dryer apart. I took every screw out that I could find, and the wrap-around back panel still would not separate from the body or chassis or whatever it's connected to. I've seen in other videos of Samsungs "similar-looking" to mine where they did get it apart, easily even. Not mine. I hope you have better luck with yours. I'll definitely be watching your other videos, although I suspect that the next thing that goes wrong on this dryer, will be it's death sentence. I almost think they designed mine to force the owner to call an appliance repair service when something goes wrong. Anyways, thanks again. Great service that you're doing.

    Wow, hey, I just took mine apart again today (07-03-2020 Friday), and I have Samsung dryer exactly same as yours. And, damned, if the back rollers weren't fallen off the supports. They burned off. I had done repairs at Christmas and greased them -- when I cleaned it last (only 2nd time at Christmas of 2019), but I replaced mine today with new ball-bearing ones. The old just have grease on them, and one was LOCKED and another had BURNT OFF. So, I had to clean everything out, but it's back up and going. It was a late morning to early afternoon job. So, I even replaced the tensioner wheel arm -- to get the new ball bearings. Also, you might eventually have to do that. But, thanks for your video. It made me know that I could open it up and see again what was wrong. People like you give me the confidence that I need to accomplish the task.

      I had the same situation. To accomplish this you MUST have a lot of dexterity in your LEFT hand and not have gorilla arms. You will only be able to use ONE hand and will need to USE the tiny hole on the back to peek through to see what you are doing (or you could make it bigger with a hole saw.) The hard parts are:
      1. threading the screw that supports/fastens the pulley assembly into the hole with your fingers while holding the assembly with the side of your hand so it lines up with the hole. You can then tighten with a screwdriver. Make sure everything is lined up so the cut off switch will still work
      2. Pushing the pulley assembly back against the significant tension of the spring with your palm while simultaneously threading the belt correctly with your fingers.
      You probably will not succeed on the first try, but keep trying. Make sure you have a compact bright light you can place correctly in the dryer so you can see clearly what you are doing. Spin the drum with your hand to make sure everything is lined up. I used a leaf blower and vac to clean things out while I had the dryer open. I would only use OEM parts for something like this. Much more expensive, but that's the way I go with jobs that are difficult and I don't want to have to do over.

The old grease dissolved and I pulled the pulley off the shaft and regreased the shaft. The pully on my dryer did not have bearings. It was a simple steel shaft and a steel sleeve inside the pulley. Greased it up and dryer was back in business.

    My Samsung dryer is exactly like yours. I had to take apart the front and remove the drum on mine. Not only did the idler pulley wheel break off, one of the drum guide wheels on the back right side (blue & black wheels) also broke. Ordered an upgraded kit from Amazon that comes with a new tensioner arm with idler pulley, new bolt, & spring. Plus 4 new drum guide wheels, & a new thicker belt.

    Excellent video - thank you so much. I thought that I might as well replace the belt while I was doing the tensioner. Because I had the front off, I was able to tape the belt in place on the drum and then lay the dryer on it’s front so I could stand and see inside the hole while putting the belt over the tensioner. My unit had just the tiny hole for one arm only. I was also able to replace the tensioner arm fnother 50 cents to put bearings in the pulley. Mine was burned halfway through after five years of use. Thanks again.

    I did it the hard way by taking the drum out which was OK I had a lot of lint built up that needed cleaning but I'll definitely try it through the back next time if there is a next time. Thanks for your efforts great how to video.

      Just letting you know that the brass bearings are infused with oil and basically they dry out. Although WD40 will temporarily fix the issue, for me it started squeeking again within a few days. I understand their is replacements that have actual roller bearings in them however someone commented they are fairly flimsy due to the tight tolerances. Haven't had a chance to try the roller bearing type yet. But the price on Amazon is pretty cheap for the OEM or aftermarket parts (Infused brass type).

    ALso, you are lucky on this one ... 11:26 ... I don't have that part on mine, so it doesn't open. I had to go through the front and connect the pulley / tensioner blind. Damn it was hard. You make it look so easy by going through the back. If only mine was designed like yours, yours must be newer to have that ... 11:20 area that opens.
