    Was VERY happy with the Reimer pick up. He is a great goalie that was playing on a poorly defensive team. Smart move on the Panthers and his part to come here, especially with Luongo going on the way out.

      Yeah that was Mike Conley for the Memphis Grizzles. The reason why players are getting max deals in the nba is because the cap hit increased from 70 million to 94 million.

      in my opinion Montreal won the trade when it comes to a short term perspective. Weber is a stud but he's only got 4-6 years left in him. Nashville won in a long term perspective because Subban has at least 7 or 8 years left in him.

  • @whistleblower8363
    @whistleblower8363 8 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    The Eriksson signing was more to make the seasons competitive. Not for the reason of winning. Who plays with the Sedins if not Eriksson? Thats why the Canucks got them.

    • @whistleblower8363
      @whistleblower8363 8 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Johnny does not know what is happening on the other side of the nation. Vancouver is doing a slow transition to stay competitive but are focusing on a rebuild. Johnny thinks every team is either really bad or really good. There has to be a middle and that middle is always aiming to move up. Erikssons deal is a lengthy one which means he will be with some young guys in the future to help them. Its a process Johnny! A process!

    • @Reydriel
      @Reydriel 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Whistleblower
      So, he's there to help your team win and also play with your future prospects.

    • @hemanownsyou

    Krecji won't be traded. I seriously hope he won't be traded. He's younger than Backes, he's very good defensively, and he was one of our most consistent forwards last year in terms of offence.

  • @Sapsterr
    @Sapsterr 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Boeser, Horvat, Virtanen, Baertschi, Etem, Gaunce, Rodin, Cassels, Grenier, Labate, Tryamkin, Pedan, Hutton, Tanev, Subban, Juolevi, Gudbranson, Demko, and Garteig.
    All of these prospects have a bright future with the Canucks, and are Good prospects who can be dominant players.
    You are right when you say that we won't commit to a full rebuild, but the signing was about having a veteran scoring presence after the Sedins retire, since Burrows and Edler most likely won't be there

  • @AtooZ17
    @AtooZ17 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    benning didnt trade hammer because no one wanted to give up something for him. canucks have very good prospects coming up like boeser and demko. signing eriksson will help the team win and at the same time give the kids experience.

    The canucks had an Injury riddled season last year with almost a quarter of our roster injuried and notably our second line center, Sutter out the most of the season. But take a look at the sharks, last year YOU WOULDN'T EVEN think the sharks were a CONTENDER For the cup but guess what, they went to the FINALS. The canucks may be better than u think Johnny. Also, we've acquired players that are on the edge of being really good, beartchi and Etem. But the only thing i agree here is the Hamhuis situation, we rly messed up there.

    As a Red Wings fan, I really like all of our signings. The Vanek deal was great for us imo. It's a low risk high reward kind of deal. If he doesn't do good, it's whatever, it's a one year deal. If he does do good then we can re-sign him. The Ott deal is okay. It does provide us that toughness we've needed which is fantastic.

  • @jacksonnielson1682

    Canucks fan here, I have no idea what Canucks were doing. I also listened to Benning at an event, and he said Hamhuis was super close to being traded to Dallas or Chicago. Dallas got Russel so they didn't need him, I don't remember about Chicago. And he said he really wants to stay in Vancouver, he tried everything to stay here, but Benning wouldn't offer him a contract.

    Calgary won on free agency. We had 2 things to sort out. A gritty right winger and a backup Goaltender. Troy Brouwer is going to be a good player beside Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan. Chad Johnson played 45 games last year. That's amazing since we have Brian Elliot who played around that amount so if Elliot can not handle 60+ games we have Johnson who can handle 40+ games. I would say Calgary Won the Free Agent Frenzy in my opinion as we got what we needed. We may of lost Colborne but we now have Klimchuk, Shinkuruk, Tkachuk, Poitier, etc. As some of the Tsn guys said, Calgary can make it back into the playoffs with this roster and they may have the best goaltending situation related with cost. Elliot 2.5 and Johnson 1.7, that is only 4.2 million. We were paying Hiller 4.5 and Ramo 3. we just made back 3 million for forwards and d-man. Calgary can make it to the playoffs, them being a big impact and winning. No. That is still 2-3 years away.

    Johnny you mentioned that Benning should have traded Hamhuis at the deadline and he tried with Chicago and Dallas, but Dallas went with Russell and they ran out of time with Chicago. So instead of having an old player with a left shot that does not fit anymore in Vancouver, Benning went and got Gudbranson a 6'5 right shot that is 23 for a prospect and a 2nd a lot better trade then Hall for Larsson!

    As a Blackhawks fan, I think re-signing Brian Campbell to a one-year deal was a move that had to be made. While it does worry me that three out of Chicago's top four defensemen are over 30 years old, and Niklas Hjalmarsson is 29, it takes pressure off of the young guys like Trevor van Riemsdyk and Erik Gustafsson, who were forced into larger roles last season. I assume that Campbell will be on the second pairing with Seabrook, which should have better results than the Seabrook - TVR pairing, which was not good at all.

  • @NHLchaos
    @NHLchaos 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Dale Weise signed a 4-year deal with Philly, and Ryan White signed with Arizona. Don't really see the purpose of those deals, but I guess the Flyers wanted a younger and bigger grinder since their re-tooling, and Arizona is in the rebuilding stages and might want to use White as trade bait for more draft picks since it's only a 1 year deal.

  • @chadeddie

    To me the Yzerman love as "the best gm" is a bit confusing. Yeah everything worked out this year, and hes made good moves in the past, but he nearly lost both Drouin and Stamkos. If either of those scenarios go the other way we would all be calling him the worst GM. The guy sticks to his plans, which is bold and respectable, but you can only play with fire for so long before it bites you in the ass, or something like that.

    • @BGGIEMAN

      Tbh I think he's one of the worst in the league, other than benning (the nucks gm I think I spelt it wrong) the Callahan trade wasn't great, in a couple years the cap is going to kill him, he's going to have trouble signing players like: kuch, Johnson, krillorn, bishop etc

      Chris Loeffen I'm not knocking what Tampa did this year because you still have to win the games, but they played Detroit and the Islanders in the first 2 rounds. No one had an easier draw to the finals. Sure they eventually took Shitsburg to 7, but after they had to go through the Rangers and Caps. Tampa was the 6 seed in the conference, it makes no sense why they got to play the 8th and 5th seed. The divisional playoff format is a fucking joke.

    I think that Carolina will contend in the east next season. Yeah, they didn't sign a star player but they signed 2 decent players that can put up points and they have an incredibly young team and can only get better.

    I think that the Isles are going to do fine in their division. The Isles replaced Okposo with Ladd, and Martin with Chimera. The one hole I'm worried about is the one Nielsen left. But, I think a guy like Strome or Nelson can fill that hole, and I wouldn't be surprised if the Isles make a trade before the season.

  • @goldandbronze123

    Johnny, Canucks have one of the best prospect pools. There defence is set. Hutton could be a top 2 player if he keeps playing like he did. Gudbranson top 4. Tanev top could play top minutes. Sbisa is alright. Tryamkin is next Chara. Jeoulevi is like an Erik Karlsson. They are all under 30. They got the best goaltender prospect in the NHL with Thatcher Demko. Also Markstrom can prove he can play as a starter. Bo Horvat had 40 points and has been getting more points every year. He is like a toews. Brock Boeser could be a 1st line sniper or 2nd line. Baertschi will hit 20 goals. Im not even naming all the prospects. Canucks can make the playoffs in the next 5 years or less. Bad teams need some good players on it and veteran

    okay so Vancouver's owner told Benning he isn't allowed to rebuild his team, so he got a competitive defenseman in Erik Gudbranson and loui Eriksson. so if they could get a better goaltender than ryan miller and acquire some more decent forwards to cap of the bottom six, I think they could be a playoff contender.

    I don't like the term given to Eriksson but that's what you had to give signing for top free agents. While I agree that a full reset is needed in Lotus land, it's hard to do with the Twins signed still for two years. Problem is that ownership have a lot of say too...

    I think the Staal signing with Minnesota is an ok deal. I sat down and thought about it and it could end up being just like Vanek, but if Staal produces more than Vanek did, I say it's a good deal. I do think that the Wild needed to make a move for a top 6 forward and Staal is just hitting the end of his prime. All I'm hoping for right now is that he will produce and maybe we can go further in the playoffs. Otherwise I think it's almost time for a rebuild with the Minnesota Wild

    okposo to the sabres is a great deal for buffalo. they need a bit more scoring and okposo is sure to get 20+ goals with o'rielly and rienhart playing with him. he is an assist machine too. i think buffalo had a great off season grabbing a better defenseman and forward. hopefully lehner can fight off the injury bug and give them a strong year. leafs look to be great in a few years, not looking forward to facing them. glad to see tampa managed to keep stamkos from walking and druin. devils picking up hall is wonderful, they got a superstar for fairly cheap and should get results from him. great off season for a lot of teams, dont wanna ramble on anymore. what was your favorite move for the off season? would love to know

      As long as they get rid of Krejci I'm ok with it. My only problem is that in the Backes interview, it sounded like they were pitching it as "a three headed dog down the middle" so does that mean they are keeping him? . I guess they must be trading Spooner? There's no way they'll have him playing the 4th. But I don't really like that because we already lost Kholkehchev to the KHL and without either of them they will have absolutely no centers for the future.

    • @alexgammino
