Edmonton is being overlooked: Mcdavid playing a full campaign this year and a healthy Klefbom alone will make a huge difference, with the addition of Larsson on the back end, Lucic on the left side, and Puljujarvi on the right side could potentially put Edmonton near or in the playoffs. Edmonton was the most injured club last year. They are a team to look out for. I have also heard that they might be looking at Barrie for a PP specialist. Love the channel and keep doing the good work Johnny!
You guys don't even know what you're talking about the Canucks. What? Is it because they're not doing a traditional rebuild like Toronto? And before you say foolish things like "no future" be sure to do some research and know those prospects before you guys go around saying "The Canucks are dead for the next 50 years."
I am cautiously optimistic of the oilers this year. yes we improved but us fans say that every year so it doesn't necessarily mean we won't absolutely suck again. I'm hoping for the best and preparing myself for the worst.
If Edmonton makes it, it's most likely going to have to be a divisional spot. as the central division is probably going to have the 2 wild card teams. Could happen though, would love to see the Oilers back in the playoffs
Andrew Pts I was just thinking about that earlier, and I thought the same thing as you, but now I'm back on the fence. personally I think all 3 california teams will dominate the division again and make the playoffs, and I think our only hope is to beat out Minnesota, Colorado, and Winnipeg for the final wild card spot. the rest of the central teams I think will make the playoffs again.
Andrew Pts I truly believe the Oilers could have made the playoffs this past season if they weren't decimated by injuries, if you look at the standings Minnesota had a mere 17 more points than us, I know that seems like a lot but it equates to 8 wins and an OT loss, or 7 wins and 3 OT losses, etc. etc. etc. That would be EASILY achievable with our best center playing 37 more games, our best dman playing 52 more games, and arguably our 2nd best center for 27 more games
The Radulov signing is probably the best signing done so far this free agency... All of the free agents signed have ridiculous term/pricing for age except for a handful. Radulov was one of, if not the, best player outside of the NHL in the WORLD. He has the potential to be a point per game player, something which can't be said for a single free agent signed this year. And should he bust and decide to go back to the KHL after this year? It's a one year contract, cheaper than most of the big name free agents signed this year.
Bergevin ask Webber if he was ok with the fact of playing with Radulov and Webber said it was fine cause Radulov changed since he first played with him.
His skating is kind of off, one year in the minors will do him plenty good. Everything else for him is NHL caliber rn. Watched him a lot this year and he is so good in the offensive zone. So give him 1 year than he'll be more than ready
+Zach Carlson Avs have a very good team. They have a very good centerman, good defense and a good goalie with Varlamov. They have also a good coach with Roy. They just need better top 6 wingers
I defiently agree with this Montreal should make it unless Price gets injured again, but Colorado and Winnipeg are such great teams its just the division that leads me to say they may not make it cuz if you look at the central id assume its gonna be Chicago, Dallas, St. Louis as the top 3 but then Minnesota, Colorado, Winnipeg and Nashville are all very strong teams and would all be playoff teams if they were in a diffrent division but i just don't see Nashville and Minnesota not making it after having strong off season's in the free agency market
As a Devils fan I think we could squeak into the playoffs this year. Cammalleri will be back and that's a decent chunk of offense right there, I think Smith- Pelly really grows and excels in New Jersey, proof being he had like 7 or 8 points in his first 10 games in New Jersey. Taylor hall only adds offensive skill so now we shouldn't be last in scoring. For defense our first line is okay but I'm really hoping Severson and Merrill develop into something, but as long as we get some more scoring and Cory Schneider continues to play like he did, defense shouldn't be a huge problem. Worst case scenario we grab a defenseman at the deadline.
yes, i really cant wait to see what the devils bring next year, with hall and henrique, even the new pick ups such as bennett or fiddler or even love joy tbh i dont know alot about them but hopefully they will improve and cammalleri will hopefully be healthy and ready to kick some ass!
I don't think smith pelly can continue that offense. he had like 8 points in 9 games but then he started to slow down because his offense was unsustainable. I doubt he will get more than 20-25 points. he is most likely a third or fourth liner
the east, especially the metro is gonna be tough to get in the playoffs caps pens rangers isles in the met and tampa fla montreal in the atlantic are almost locks for the yoffs. doesnt leave a whole lot of oppurtunity
calgary filled our needs in ever position , High scoring forwards? check, tall power forwards? check, Great D? check and a starting goal tender finally! calgary seems pretty set to me and i know im a die hard flames fan :P but come on
Devils offense is pretty okay now. but they put a huge hole in their defense. Season depends on if steve santini can step in and become a shut down defensemen and if severson can step up and play to his potential.
Montreal is obviously gonna make the playoffs because of Carey Price. That's not a achievement they need to be contending for a cup. The biggest Dark Horse are the Oilers. They have a solid team with good goaltending and offense. Defense is just a little weak but they can squeak in to the playoffs.
+Jeremy Litzenberger Cam Talbot. He was the starting goalie in the IIHF for team canada this year. And he had several shut outs this season. Even with the bad defense of Edmonton
+Jeremy Litzenberger talbot is a goo enough goalie, he's not all star but he's starter worthy, plus Gustavvson is a great backup when talbot has some bad games
+Poyters131 not a joke, they got Kulikov and okposo and with eichel, reinhart, Ristolainen, and McCabe all getting better they can be really good if lehner can stay healthy and if he proves he can be a strating goalie thay could actually be really good
it's pretty funny to see people truly believe buffalo is still a bad team because of 2-3 years ago. we had nearly a 30 point improvement season with 4 20 goal scorers (5 if you count mcggin before the trade). risto had his breakout year and buffalo picked up okoposo and kulikov this off season. fan or no fan you need to see that buffalo will be a scary team in short time once our young guys get into their prime. we will make the playoff's and have a 1st round exit. 2nd at best
Buffalo was also only 5-5-6 wins out of the playoffs this year and considering our goalie and ennis were injured for half the season and o'rielly missed about 2 months.

How do you not have Florida ahead of Boston, Detroit. Already better than them last year and they only got better. Team deserves some respect around the league now
wow the hate is hard here...i personnaly think they are in a better position than the Rangers salary wise and mix of players/prospects wise...The rangers of 2012 were good but now their defence except McDonagh is a bunch of overpaid pilons...and Lundqvist as shown signs of slowing down...i like their offense tho with Brassard, Zuccarelo, Stepan(a bit overpaid too) but fuck R. Nash
+David Bertrand die hard ranger fan but I agree entirely!! Girardi needs to go but they won't trade him and they overestimated Yandle. I like Klein tho and Brady skjei or how ever u spell his name is good too
Yeah thats what i mean! Girardi and Staal has also slowed down...Klein is pretty good but you need more than Klein and McDonagh (even tho hes a beast) to be a contender...and yeah Skjei is looking to be a good reliable top 4 maybe the futur Staal but except him and Buchnevich and that russian goalie the prospect pool looks pretty weak and not drafting in the 1st round since 2012 dont help
New Jersey will make the playoffs next season barring a huge injury or something drastic. They would've made it in last year if it weren't for Cammalleri being out for half the year, and the Devils have done nothing but improved since last season.
As a flames fan i think they will suprise alot of people in this upcoming season, all they needed was a reliable goalie and im confident that they found one!
Nashville is going to be amazing this season, bringing Ryan Johansen in, and having that really strong heavy hitting defense with a franchise goalie, ALSO having a high flying skilled offense to score goals. This combo of having a big hitting defense, they can enforce the back, while the skilled offense can generate lots of goals.
The Devils have a lot of young defensemen who need more experience in the AHL mostly. I went to some of the open training camps, for observation, and some of the guys seemed a little rough on the edges, but have the potential to be the glue guys on a team like the Devils.
I made a really random playoff simulation on NHL 16. Here are some highlights. -Calgary beat LA in 5 in the first round -Calgary beat Minnesota in 6 in the second round -Calgary fought and brought a game 7 against Anaheim in the conference final, but lost. I hoped Calgary would win that game. Pretty awesome.
Devils fan here you also forgot about cammeleri who was producing at close to a point a game before he was injured. If we can sign hudler and a defensemen(wisnewski, schenn or schutlz ) then we can make it. I saw zacha in the ahl and the kids an absolute stud
Absolutely Montreal, if things pay off with certain trades, they could easily win. They started the season so well. If Price stays fit anything could happen!
The Sabres with developing Jack Eichel, Veteran Ryan O'Reilly and now Veteran Kyle Okposo, a good chance of Connor Vesey, a healthy Tyler Ennis, and more but Connor Vesey is a free agent that the Buffalo Sabres are very interested in but cannot get him until August 8th but the Sabres are heading in the right direction now.
As a devils fan and what they've done in the draft the last few years they've mostly gone towards drafting good young defensemen like Steven Santini. Like in years past, the Devils are a defensive minded team and that's what they are continuing with new management and coach.
I don't know about the defense we still have holes to fill, the offense actually excites me and Cory Schneider is our rock. Decently confident in the Devils.
Flyers, their blue line is about to get a lot of talent and hopefully ghost can do what he did last year. I also think Wiese will be a pleasant surprise
im an oilers fan and im pumped for larsson we finally got a young righty on the brink of being a star plus looch plus pulj this oiler team will be better, but nj is getting a real star in hall,, goodluck hall an to all nj fans
Being born and raised in Edmonton, but now living in Ontario, I got to say Edmonton is another dark horse team, with Lucic and Larsson added, the team should get more wins, not to mention Cam" Lights Out" Talbot has proven in back to back seasons he can play like an elite goalie towards the back half of a season, regardless of what defense is in front of him, if he can play like that for 60 games going forward, good luck scoring more than 3 goals on the Oil, plus they signed a quality back up/ decent starter if Cam gets hurt, so I see them competing for a wildcard spot this season
The Colorado Avalanche have a legit shot at making some noise. Their defense is much improved and I believe if they can move Barrie for a top six forward they will be a tough team.
Our defense played good last year. Even though we could not score, our defense was decent enough to not get us blown out often. I can only recall a couple times where we only lost by 4+ goals. I'm fine with losing Larsson if it meant picking up Hall. I still believe we're only one winger off from being a legit threat again.
You forgot to mention the flames picking up Tkachuk who could quite possibly be that line mate Johnny and Mony needs. Also the flames new coaching staff I think look great.
2015-2016 5v5 CF%: New Jersey 46.2 (29th in NHL) Calgary 48.1 (20th in NHL) It's totally possible, but I think both NJ and Calgary would need awesome seasons from their goalies to make the playoffs. Will be interesting to see how big an impact Taylor Hall can have.
great opinion Johnny. I think the sabres will make a playoff appearance this year. I think we will get stomped in the first round because our whole team has very little playoff expierence, but we will be in the playoffs. I want to see Calgary have a deep playoff run with the team they put together. I also predict Detroit's playoff streak is over this season.
+FLAMINGRKO ha ha no it isn't a bad thing. I was making a joke no it isn't stealing. I was just saying how awesome it is that you guys are making fantastic trades without giving up too much. Hamilton, Eliot etc. I was joking by saying you were stealing because you guys are th tying the much better end of your trades. I know it isn't stealing.
andy greene is a good defesnivemen he is a good top 2 player, the devils have seth helgeson who really came on at then end of the year last year and could play some big minutes, but if we get an injury were screwed.
Not trying to be bias as a jets fan but I think the jets are going to have a pretty good season this year, schiefs ehlers wheeler little laine Conner is a pretty nice top six to me, our defence can be solid with guys like buff, Myers, and trouba if we can resign him, our goalie situation is going to be improved this season imo with hellebuyck holding it down.
Hall - top 5 winger in the NHL Henrique - great TWF, 30 goal scorer Palmieri - 30 goal scorer Cammalleri - almost a PPG player (until injury) Zajac - Great for defense DSP, bennett, zacha, blandisi, kalinin, boucher - good depth Greene - a top DFD in the league (very underrated) Severson - gets better every game Moore - can carry bad defensemen like merrill and make them look like NHL ready players Santini, Lovejoy - good top 4/6 players Schneider - top 3 goalie Wedgewood (hopefully over kinkaid) is a great backup
People can diss the devils back end but they cant explain how the devils were the top team in the league for GGA until Schneider and Serverson got injured...
+paul “Classic” Karma the Devils have always had great talent in the top 6 towards and 4 defenseman but I find they often lose games because their depth players can't get the job done
In all honesty, the Central Division is THE toughest division in sports. All teams could easily compete for the final Wild Card spot, and they have taken those spots since the new formats.
I can't wait for the season. I'm really looking forward to seeing the Canadiens hit. Personally, I'm ok with Plekanec staying on the team but would love to see MB move Desharnais. Minor draft pick is acceptable imo. lol
Weber on the first pair and Markov on the second. The third pair should be Emelin/Pateryn. So that left Petry and Beaulieu to play with Weber or Markov. Some people say that Sergachev could probably be ready to play this year, but not to sure about that.
I feel like buffalo is going to make a big splash this year
well yeah cause they are next to Niagara Falls. Yeichel and O Reilly plus Reinhart be splashin in the net with all them goals
+drew dawg "Yeichel"
Eugene Krabs close to it doe
Eugene Krabs close enough.
hope so
Carolina is going to be a playoff contender next year for sure.

Jets need to trade pavelec
Unfortunate that no one wants him. I'd even take future considerations for him
He is the one goalie that I would trade within the division. Lmao
Last time I wa this early I was happy about bergevin statement saying subbans gonna be a HAB for a long time
im early let me think of the joke... the Habs signing Radulov

+Gabe Newell Remember when the caps with 121 pts got beat by the 88pts Habs lol
I'm gonna go with Sabres making it
+RogueLvther tough ? Only teams to have a sure playoff spot are florida and tampa
They will. They'll steal Detroit's wild card spot. Streak ends next year.
sabres and leafs are the only teams in that division that are getting better, everyone else is pretty much falling
Derek Lasker Florida got better
florida and tampa are improving as a bruins fan we are falling so hard
jersey has santini and merril too
not sure that's nearly enough. tbh i don't see how we could win a playoff series, unless schneider gets 4 SO
I really hope Tkachuck plays this year.
I think he'll be better off spending 1 more year in junior
His skating is kind of off, one year in the minors will do him plenty good. Everything else for him is NHL caliber rn. Watched him a lot this year and he is so good in the offensive zone. So give him 1 year than he'll be more than ready
+HabsFan3121 You are probably right. I am so pumped about him though.
Defense could also use some work, but it will get there

Hall and Henique have chemistry because they both won memorial cups with Windsor in 2009 and 2010
Buffalo? they have a really good top 6 and they got a good defence.
CALGARY!!!! But i do think the Avs could make an 8 seed...
Nah, the Central already has 5 solid playoff competitors, the Aves won't make it.
The Avs would've made it last year if they didn't quit half way through every game
Fun fact: pavel zacha had the highest points per game of any player in the 15-16 season.
😂😂😂
The Pacific Division is usually filled with the Californian teams in the top three, so Calgary's gonna have to squeak in there if they want a chance.
+0007Rovert7000 They'll have to battle Arizona for fourth and try for a wild card.
that replay angle though 0:48
How about Oilers? They are going to be better than Devils.
You can see future?
btw. I think that probably yes, they are.
I mean, yeah, but they're the Oilers.

He's a good playmaker. When he played with Weise last season he was amazing. Short doesnt mean bad.
Thats a bit of exageration ! +Daniel Habs
Remember when you were talking about the maple leafs being a contender next year?
True
So glad you talked about the Flames, I love what they're doing with the team! Can't wait to go to some games next year!
The Canadiens have no scoring depth. They rely mostly on extraordinary goaltending. They're like the Rangers, but even worse.

Ryan Westerfield yeah but Kinkaid was decent for us and Wedgwood was unreal
+nexushockeyHD
we'll probably end up where Boston was this year. I don't think we would make the playoffs but we aren't gonna get a good draft pick
Logesh Barath i could see us making it, our roster is younger than Bostons and will hopefully develop well throughout the year
the Devils look great after this off season
I agree for the most part, but I would swap Montreal with Buffalo. MAYBE even 3rd in the Atlantic.
It's safe to say these 3 teams are going nowhere.
It's safe to say you're wrong.
Montréal has the potential
Not unless price is in the lineup
+John Costello Flames got no chance lol
Really we got everything a team could possibly want. The offence and the defence not to mention Brian Elliott.
Its probably gonna be Vancouver and Calgary battling for a spot, you cant deny the talent we have. I just hope the nucks stay healthy enough
Calgary denied Vancouver's talent in the 2015 playoffs.
Talent? Vancouver? Same sentence?
Vancouver will probably win the season series against Calgary
+Frozen Gold1 (FrozenHD) I'll kms if they do

I made a really random playoff simulation on NHL 16. Here are some highlights.
-Calgary beat LA in 5 in the first round
-Calgary beat Minnesota in 6 in the second round
-Calgary fought and brought a game 7 against Anaheim in the conference final, but lost. I hoped Calgary would win that game.
Pretty awesome.
you are a hundred percent right on my NJ Devil's defense. it looks weak but a stud goalie and scoring will help.
Carolina Hurricanes are a team that is gonna surprise everyone next year. Just wait. Such an underrated Team.
Calgary got Tkchuck great player. His dad played for the Blues and did pretty good
Devils fan here you also forgot about cammeleri who was producing at close to a point a game before he was injured. If we can sign hudler and a defensemen(wisnewski, schenn or schutlz ) then we can make it. I saw zacha in the ahl and the kids an absolute stud
Hurricanes are a dark horse for sure in my opinion
7:29 open net glitch strikes again
damn rapid fire with these videos
You're new here aren't you
+Connor R I don't think he is. It's just Johnny uploaded like 6 videos today when usually he uploads 3 or 4
+drew dawg yea I'm not new it's just that I got all the notifications at once so it was rapid fire
Domenic Savastano when u turn on mobile data or walk into ur house and get blown up with notifications.
+drew dawg yea lol😂
Pumped for the nhl 17 demo
Absolutely Montreal, if things pay off with certain trades, they could easily win. They started the season so well. If Price stays fit anything could happen!
Devils are making it this year without a doubt they are due.
Oilers, Habs and Jets are my pick
I think the Canucks are going to be a playoff team this year because of the moves I made during the offseason
you were horrible jim lol
The Sabres with developing Jack Eichel, Veteran Ryan O'Reilly and now Veteran Kyle Okposo, a good chance of Connor Vesey, a healthy Tyler Ennis, and more but Connor Vesey is a free agent that the Buffalo Sabres are very interested in but cannot get him until August 8th but the Sabres are heading in the right direction now.
Johnny needs to do a comm on teams that look solid for the next year.
The Dallas Stars had better be in it btw
Boston Bruins baby
Shoulda madd the playoffs this year
But you lost to FUCKING OTTAWA and the Flyers made it instead of you.
rip bruins
+TacoTarantula flyers lost first round tho so..
+TacoTarantula dat elite Gustavsson tho...
Toronto is going to win the cup with all their rookies! Matthews is the next great one!
lol Matthews is not the next great 1
+Devin Bates well he is gonna face Carey Price in his first season game soooooo??? Probably not
No.. Just no.
Last time I was this early, maple leafs win a game vs Montreal
Let's Go Devils
My three team is the Montreal Canadiens, Edmonton Oilers and Arizona Coyotes.
Flames are looking great for next year.
My Dark Horse teams, Winnipeg Jets, Ottawa Senators, and the Buffalo Sabers.
2015-2016 5v5 CF%:
New Jersey 46.2 (29th in NHL)
Calgary 48.1 (20th in NHL)
It's totally possible, but I think both NJ and Calgary would need awesome seasons from their goalies to make the playoffs. Will be interesting to see how big an impact Taylor Hall can have.
Plekanec as N2. Desharnais 3rd line winger/Center.
Johnny, make a video where you tell your thoughts if the top-5 draft picks should play in NHL next year (like you did last year).
great opinion Johnny. I think the sabres will make a playoff appearance this year. I think we will get stomped in the first round because our whole team has very little playoff expierence, but we will be in the playoffs. I want to see Calgary have a deep playoff run with the team they put together. I also predict Detroit's playoff streak is over this season.
Holy shit 5 uploads in a row
My boys the flames lets go!!!
the Buffalo sabres are a dark horse tean
the coyotes will get some thing going
The flames are finally ready for the playoffs now that we got a legit goalie.
Haha you guys are stealing from every team in the league I swear. The trades and signings Calgary has pulled off.
+Ga Teddybears is that a bad thing? What are you trying to say?
+Ga Teddybears we needed a goalie so we traded for a goalie last time I check that's not called stealing.
+Ga Teddybears oh lol well thank you
andy greene is a good defesnivemen he is a good top 2 player, the devils have seth helgeson who really came on at then end of the year last year and could play some big minutes, but if we get an injury were screwed.
Hall - top 5 winger in the NHL
Henrique - great TWF, 30 goal scorer
Palmieri - 30 goal scorer
Cammalleri - almost a PPG player (until injury)
Zajac - Great for defense
DSP, bennett, zacha, blandisi, kalinin, boucher - good depth
Greene - a top DFD in the league (very underrated)
Severson - gets better every game
Moore - can carry bad defensemen like merrill and make them look like NHL ready players
Santini, Lovejoy - good top 4/6 players
Schneider - top 3 goalie
Wedgewood (hopefully over kinkaid) is a great backup
People can diss the devils back end but they cant explain how the devils were the top team in the league for GGA until Schneider and Serverson got injured...
+paul “Classic” Karma the Devils have always had great talent in the top 6 towards and 4 defenseman but I find they often lose games because their depth players can't get the job done
i think Helgenson might play over Santini, Helgs in the few games he's played in the nhl has been very good
Bruins,Oilers and Sabres
i could see a team like Detroit having their 25 season playoff streak being snapped this year.
the panthers got a bunch of people including james riemer so i think they will be a playoff team
boston, arizona and edmonton are my dark horse teams
John never talks about the Canucks
Because they are a team not worth talking about lol 😂😂😂
+Dawson Brodie if you think they are making the playoffs next season you're kinda stupid...
Yeah exactly
Nobody does
+TacoTarantula LOL
In all honesty, the Central Division is THE toughest division in sports. All teams could easily compete for the final Wild Card spot, and they have taken those spots since the new formats.
I can't wait for the season. I'm really looking forward to seeing the Canadiens hit. Personally, I'm ok with Plekanec staying on the team but would love to see MB move Desharnais. Minor draft pick is acceptable imo. lol
Nice photo in the beginning
Toronto to be in 9th or even 8th that's what will happen
10th
No they will do better this year
Auston Matthews isn't going to bring them to 9th or 8th alone.
They'll be a bottom 3 team
Devils also have Cammaleri for goals
Vancouver, Ottawa, Philly, Calgary are all gonna battle for a Play-Off spot.
Colorado will finally have the power to push for the playoffs in that central division.
Damon severson is actually a really god young player coming from a person who watched every game last uear
Weber on the first pair and Markov on the second. The third pair should be Emelin/Pateryn. So that left Petry and Beaulieu to play with Weber or Markov. Some people say that Sergachev could probably be ready to play this year, but not to sure about that.
I see the Sabres making it next year as a wild card team
