I feel so blessed to have grown up with the music from the 60's & 70's. The Seekers were another great Australian folk pop band from the 60's. They had so many great hits including "A World Of Our Own", "Georgy Girl", "The Carnival Is Over", "Someday, One Day", I'll Never Find Another You", "Morningtown Ride".
Such a wonderful song. I’ve watched this video about a hundred times over the few years. I even find myself singing this song sometimes. Thanks, Stan, for another great reaction. The Seekers were a great Australian group.
A great Aussie 60s band they had so many hits and did some TV shows too. They were our first musical export to the world. Judith Durham is the best female vocalist Australia has produced. She is so very good. Great song. Thanks for putting on your reaction channel and great reaction too.
The best group from Australia in the 60's and 70's...they bought Australian music to the world and bought the world to Australian groups! One song which was the top of the charts for the Seekers was The Carnival is Over...must listen to that..a classic!! Tear jerker too...Cheers!🙋♀️
What a brilliant tune... Brings back so many memories the BEST! So many memories of being a kid growing up in the 60’s... Please watch “I am Australian” from their Farewell concert. She is about 70 years old in the clip and her voice is still incredible... the men are still brilliant as well and their musicianship is sublime!
My mother loved The Seekers, Morningtown Ride was my favourite, she sang it to my children and I now sing/play it for my grandchildren with tears in my eyes thinking of my mother. Another special to all Australians is, I Am Australian. The Carnival is over is moving too.
I was born in 1960 so very lucky to hear The Seekers during that time. They also sing songs like 'Georgie Girl', 'The Carnival is over', 'Island of Dreams' & many more. xx
That's a great song from the '60s! Listen to the long fan version! Georgie Girl is another one of their huge hits that I absolutely love! I was lucky to have grown up with this kind of music in the 60s. A World of Our Own is also good!
Welcome to the club Stan. Just turned 7 0 and I saw the seekers live on stage (in Pietermaritzburg south Africa) when I was 12 (my mother bought me tickets). Like you I fell in love with them from day 1 and have loved them ever since. I can't get enough of Judith's voice, gives me chills every time I hear it. I have been blessed to have know them from the beginning. It takes me back to when I was a kid. Bittersweet memories. Anyway welcome. Please continue to let others experience their sound AND Judith's voice.
Aussies have lost 2 greats recently now we are praying for our favourite son. Would love your reaction to John Farnham, You're the Voice. Guarantee his voice and the song will move you!
This group did get to number one in the USA, but were overshadowed by the Beatles, like so many other great acts. There is a quote from John Lennon, to one of the seekers " you are a pretty good little band, but everyone is here to see us." Listen to "I am Australian."
I'll try to remember a few other great songs or groups from that time era that you would probably love. Try "walk right in" by the rooftop singers Early songs by Peter Paul and Mary Early music by The Mamas & the papas (More to come)
I can definitely relate to this song, my husband and I will celebrate our 46th anniversary next month . We met when we were 10 years old, I’d be so lost without him this
They have had many hits since the 1960s. Google them, there's stacks on TH-cam. The singer, Judith Durham, passed away in August at 79 years old. She had a memorial service in Hamer Hall, Melbourne, Australia, where they were from.
So they were active between 1964-1968. They broke up and stayed apart for 25 years. When they reunited they recorded a couple of albums but they did a few concert albums in the late 90s up to about 2014. Their voices held well despite being near 70 years old at the time. Listen to a few of those. IMO the British Invasion ( which the Seekers were part of because they were living in London during their 60s recording days ) was impactful in America because the bands weren’t ashamed of mixing a whole bunch of styles of American popular music, or as I keep telling people. “No one told them they couldn’t mix the white music with the black music. So they did.” Some of the Seekers’ stuff was traditional gospel standards, which if you get into that stuff, will blow your mind. Vale Judith 1943-2022
Stan, you need to hear the live version of "Georgy Girl" that they sang at the Myer Music Bowl in 1967. Another song which is so underrated too is the song "Cloudy". Judith's voice sounds superb.

I've watched this video dozens of times and it never gets old. It reminds me of Folk Music.
The angelic Judith Durham sings the best ever version of Oh Danny Boy.

A song that transports me back to happier times.

Judith Durham sadly passed away 7 days ago, in the words of their songs, The Carnival is Over, indeed, it is.😪
