I would call it the “original” in all of us that responds to their music. They performed up until 2019 and their music brought out the same response in people then as it did back in 1962.

This subscriber would like to thank you for your beautiful comments. I love The Seekers and the pure, simple sounds of their music. You're right...there's no autotune, no extremely loud music or high "screeching" voices. Just 2 guitars, a bass, a beautiful lady with a beautiful voice, and wonderful harmonies. Sadly, Judith passed away recently, but the group continued to perform together until her death.

Beautiful reaction to a group I grew up with and loved. You marry truth to heartfelt appreciation. Yes, the world was simplified back then, especially the white world. Many turned a blind eye to the injustice going on around tham and lost themeselves in music like this. Yet, as you express in your reaction, that does not take away from the sincerity, artistry, and feeling about what matters in love on a personal level. The Beatles were dominating the charts when they sailed on a boat from Australia to England as ship's entertainment, an unknown group. Some short months later, how they must have felt when this song knocked the BEATLES! off #1 in the world charts.

The Seekers were another great Australian folk pop band from the 60's. Judith Durham had such a beautiful voice. She just passed away recently. They had so many great hits including "Georgy Girl", "The Carnival Is Over", "A World Of Our Own", "Morningtown Ride", "Someday, One Day" etc. They have beautiful voices & harmonies. They don't make nostalgic music like this anymore. Reminds me of a simpler time.

Dig deeper into the mine. There is more pure gold, "The Carnival is Over" "A World of Our Own" "Georgy Girl" "Morningtown Ride" "I am Australian" just to name a few. I appreciate that you really concentrated on hearing those great lyrics. This is where The Seekers shine. Their songs had meaning. Their songs expressed true, genuine emotion. I hope to see more from you on The Seekers.
