I had a Fluval 206 for over 8 years on my 40 gallon. It was one of the most reliable canisters I had. I see that Fluval took this mini model to another level. Fluval was always light with bio media. I add in Eheim substrat that works great. Great video looks good for my 10 gallon rasboa tank.

Good morning!! I have a question, but first wanted to thank you for the review. I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge and experience.
My question relates to the biological filtration you plan to use on this canister. Will you be placing the Bio x in a mesh bag? Or without a bag? I’ve never used a canister and been wanting to make my tanks more efficient. Just not sure if a media bag would make any sense when the option of placing them in a tray is available. Thoughts?
I have done both but I think it’s easier in a bag. Especially for rinsing off.

Hi Pecktec! Thanks for doing this video! You kept saying this filter would be good for a 10-20 gallon aquarium. I was thinking of this for my 29 but wondering if it would be enough. I have angelfish and cardinal tetras so I don’t want heavy flow. And I’m a newbie to canisters. I’d appreciate your opinion.
I would move up to the next one like to 204 or 206 the flow isn’t that crazy on the bigger ones. And the exstra media space would be good.
Do those differ much from the 207? So many it’s confusing.
I think the 207 is just a tray bigger but the only other one I’ve seen is the 206 that I use on my 27 gallon cube.
What’s the return rate on the filter?

Great review! Interesting little filter for those who want a canister but don't need something big.
Seems like a good filter,but as i use jewel tank prefer the internal filter that comes with the tank,no worry about leaks and easy for seating up new tank as all sponges the same for swoping into new filter.glad your back.
I'm glad that Fluval made a smaller canister filter. This wasn't available when I setup my last 20 gallon aquarium. I did pick up a newer version of the Top fin canister filter for a 54 gallon curved tank. I'm hoping it does its job.
Should I get the Fluval 107 or Fluval 207 for my Fluval Flex 57L tank?

Small canisters are interesting. Wondering if the cost has enough value to justify it. Since most 10-30g tanks could be run on a single sponge filter or HOB. But I could see it being great on a small display tank.

I have the 106 and this looks like a nice improvement overall. The extras seem to be the rubber pad on the bottom for vibrations, the red tab to pull out the baskets and the rest seems to be just minor design changes. They made it with sharp edges this time around instead of round edges. Also provided media seems to have changed slightly. Good improvement overall.

I use a 206 and real happy with It. I pimped it up as per Pondguru and it works great! I don't need another filter cause I ain't settin up no more aquariums. I do like the Fluvals!!!

Thank you for this video, it is very helpful in making a decision as to what filter I might purchase. I am new to aquariums and have started with a small 10 gallon tank. I wanted to get a really good filter for the tank and replace the small one that came with it. After research, I THINK the Fluval 107 will be the one I purchase. After watching this video, I am confused as to what you put in the filter, calling it ceramics? What is it, where do I get it? AND do you have a video showing you putting the Fluval 107 together and attaching to your tank? I would love to see that before I purchase. Again thanks so much for all the info.
My question is, why the unboxing video without any utensils? Strange to not see some sort of odd new cutting device. I'm in process of setting up a 24 gallon planted shrimp/small fish community tank 18" cube. The plan is to dry start my carpet and some of the mosses, once I wet it, I'd love a new canister for it.
Is it possible to place this filter next to the tank or does it have to sit under the tank?

Thinking about getting one of these but want to run an inline c02 atomizer. Can it be installed in the "flex hose"?
Glad to see you back, Sean. I have a few tanks that this model might work on. I would like to try this filter on a 15 gallon column tank I have. Running an Aqua Clear HOB and bubbler sponge on this tank for now. But, the canister might be better for the depth of the tank.

my only complaint about my 406s is prying the top off. Looks like the 07's pry off the top as you push down......very smart.

Hi buddy Hi All I have a Fluval Rio 90 tank and I have just bought a Fluval 107 external filter. Can I install the inlet and outlet tubes on one of the short sides as it would be more convenient on the side of the tank TIA

That is a cute looking filter. Ive been looking at some reviews on the varies sizes of the fluvals. I love the large sponge filters they have in them. The anti-siphon ball in the intake is pretty exciting, I like that idea.!!! This filter would be really nice for my 20L tank. Thanks for the review.
I use a $10 HOB from Walmart for my 10g...people are always asking me how I get my water so clear...I don't use the cartridge that comes with it.....any small problem I have had with it had an easy fix..its in an overstocked guppy breeding tank...I can't wait see what makes this is any better..😀😀😀😀
I would fill both of those trays with biohome, looks very easy to clean the prefilter! Fluval make some decent filters.
I always wondered if there was a "nano" canister filter. Seems like the canister filters out there were for larger tanks only.

I am so glad that Fluval is putting out a small canister! Canisters are my favorite, but those of us with small planted tanks have limited options as far as canister filtration. Really pumped about this, pun not intended. ;)

I upgraded from a 207 to a 407 on my 40 breeder. When I had the 207 i was able to put the output a few inches above the waterline. Like if the water came straight out it would overshoot the other side of the tank. Guess what happened when I put the 407 in the same way? 3 GALLONS OF WATER ON THE FLOOR IN 5 SECONDS.
I have small aquarium at about 8 us gallon. Do you think this filter suitable for it?

you never see a salt water tank run on sponge filters, can it be done, does it work, have a lot of tanks, would make one salt
I'm not sure. If it does a bet people that breed fish would know. Thats where I see most of the sponges. Its funny the more professional fish keepers always seem to use them (in freshwater). I'm sure some of it is the cost of a large scale project.

Wonder what the price tag for this will be. Love my other Fluval products.
This would be perfect for my triple red cockatoo cichlid tank! I've been kind of out of the fish scene for a bit and just been in autopilot mode with my tanks. This review was perfect, didn't even know Fluval came out with this model. Thanks Sean! 👍
