I’ve been using one on a community 75 for two years now. It’s been fantastic. Only complaint is that mine is really hard to get open. But besides that, it holds a ton of media, has good flow, and is easy to maintain because it’s so well designed

I have had my FX407 running on my 75 gallon community tank for a year now. I also have a couple of sponge filters cuz you never know when one is needed for a quarantine tank. I think the 407 has been a great choice. It is very quiet. I also like how easy it is to customize the filter medium within. I would sure recommend this cannister filter.😊

I have several 407's on my 180 liter (about 48 gallons) tanks and one on a 200L/53 gallon tank.
I really like them, they just work without problems.
They are about maxed out for the 200 liter tank though.
I'm planning to get some bigger tanks, in the range of 190-250 gallons, possibly even a bigger one in the future, I think I will keep those filters, just taking out the biomedia and just have serious water polish for them with progressively finer sponges and filter floss in the top compartment.
Then a sump with biomedia and wavemakers to complete enough water circulation.
1-2 407's will seriously polish the water, hopefully giving the tank water that clear, invisible, almost eerie look.

Great filters. I use the 407 on my 86g and it works great. I use the 307 on my 32g and the flow is too strong so the gray lever on the canister allows you to adjust the flow! Love these filters. Only thing I don't like is there is no heater or UV on these filtration systems, also a spray bar is an add on. The add on's are not cheap either. They do make a UV filter that plumbs right in, but it is one more thing to mount in the stand or on the wall. Plus, you now have a heater in the tank which is one more thing to look at. One more thing to note is the flow stays strong no matter how dirty the filter gets. This is both good and bad. It is hard to know when to clean it without peaking inside. With the Sun-Sun filters the flow gets slow and you know it is time to clean.

The 407 is "fine" but its not good or great. It's the HoB equivalent of a canister filter.
First. The tubing is cheap, everything is cheap plastic, even the way they package it does t prevent damage. They need to do a better job.
Second, it is not designed to work or fit on a 75G. It will, but that doesn't mean it works well. So... What does this mean.... It means that the suction cups on the glass to hold things straight dont work. At MOST this is effective for a 3 foot long tank. It might work on a 55 because of the way the output is designed, again... Its cheaply made.
The reason the tubing "doesn't leak" is because the places where connections are made on input and output pipe are submerged in the tank. The canister connections are done at the factory and you have a clamp there ti ensure less likelihood of leaking.
They have a spray bar kit that should be standard in the box. They charge enough for it.
The media they give you (ceramic) is enough to fill one half of one tray. The chemical media removed means you have 2.5 empty trays out of 4. One has foam. One has the worst quality media you can imagine. This is fluval. They need to be held accountable for all the poor quality stuff.... Especially when the stuff they sell you to replace it with is 10x better quality.
    On mine:
-replaced tubing (now its a standard size and not cheap)
    -replaced the media
-got rid of all the chemical media they give you
    -added inline co2
    -replaced input and output pipes
Edit: totally forgot, the massive size and sharp ends of the strainer basket means its almost impossible to get a good prefilter sponge. I used the marineland one, but taking it on and off was like shredding it each time.

      @PrimeTimeAquatics  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@PrimeTimeAquaticshey hey, thank you as always for the vid.
The rim thickness and the glass thickness, yeah you can jam the parts on there, but it's not meant for it. I would love to see you show your setup on the tank itself and installing/removing the clips.
The fx series comes with a 4 foot spray bar kit. The x07 comes with a 3 foot long kit. The output on the FX is dual, the one on the x07 is single. I had a lot of issues getting flow the way I preferred, and yes.... Everyone will either be very much for or against the ribbed tubing. It feels very cheap to me.
Easy to replace, just wish that fluval upgrades the kit a little bit. Especially basic things like how it's boxed. (Random piece of Styrofoam on top of the canister, but nothing stopping it from being tossed around in the box)
There are some issues. If you get one it works, but people have had cracked corners and random issues. Due to basic things like packaging.

When you release the clamps pull the top portion of the clamps outward and push them down and that will pushed the top upwards to release the seal from the bottom portion of the canister. Check the fluvial website they have tutorials on all their equipment. I hope you find this tip useful. Best of luck. Let me know how you make out.
