- Our friend Matt Baxley (aka Moot Booxle) explores our newly announced synth addition, the Behringer Crave! This radically new synth combines the best of some of the most famous historical synths of all time - including the celebrated oscillator of the Sequential Prophet 5, the famous Ladder Filter from Moog and the modularity from 1970 modular synths, together with a modern sequencer and arpeggiator. Crave is sure to be a superb addition to any synth enthusiast's setup.
All for just $199 USD

Behringer has their finger on the synth pulse
Modular Mountain For real! This is a crazy powerful synth for $200.
Dunno if anyone gives a damn but if you are stoned like me during the covid times you can watch all of the latest movies on InstaFlixxer. Been watching with my brother for the last weeks =)
@Dean Darwin Yup, have been watching on InstaFlixxer for since december myself =)
Behringer is killing it with the affordable synths
I agree! A great mix of new designs and clones of classics. It's also great to see space around the knobs for your fingers (and full size keys om the newer clones), I don't know which one I want first!
Straight up murder, good on Behringer for meeting demands .
hi mother 32)
For real. Its like the behringer team have been dosing up on LSD and have gone wild.
@@thegroove2000 Indeed. Perfect timing in my opinion.
Transpose. So simple. So necessary. So obvious. So freakin' often omitted. Good to see.
I've wanted that for 35 years and every shop keyboard guy, every manufacturer laughed at me
@@BarryWarne I can understand if it's an analogue sequencer (like the puppy on my 1970's Yamaha CS30) but even then there would be a way to achieve it (with a voltage offset). There's no excuse for a digital sequencer and digitally processed keyboard/pads. It really drives me insane on my Korg Volcas, which otherwise have great little sequencers. It's a real head-slapper. Why? oh why? You just want to punch some dopey engineer. It's as bad as the non-latching sequencer on my goddamn Dave Smith Mopho keyboard (to be fair, that could be considered a "sticky tape" activated function).
Yep, I absolutely agree. It's a no brainer! A simple firmware update could transform the Volcas and the Minilogue. I wonder if the new Minilogue XD even has this feature!
@@andyq9669 According to a CS-30 fansite, it has a kind of transpose in the sense ", the CV generated by steps 2-8 depend on the CV value of step 1. They are all relative to step 1 CV, which is both confusing, and at the same time pretty cool."
Now, I have a CS-30 and I can't seem to replicate this. Does your do this?
Nope, but then again, it hasn't been working at all for at least five years so maybe my memory fails me. That rings no bells, however one thing I never tried was applying a voltage to the cv input. I've been lazy about fixing it as I have a CS15 as well, which isn't far off but has no sequencer.
Behringer has earned a big thumbs up for amazing hardware at a price we all can afford. Thank you Mr Behringer an Co. keep up the great work. You guys are kicking ass on the synth scene.
Extremely impressive value... function and form and that price... if this is the journey we are on, I'm in.
Behringer please have Matt do all your demo’s , he’s so natural and can actually play.
And please, Behringer, buy me a Mercedes Benz!
Yep. Want. Behringer, you are killing it.
This behringer guys are killing it 😍
Not sure I’m gonna have enough room for all these great Behringer synths.
ed rosa that’s what I was thinking! I’ll need a bigger mixer!
At least they’re small.
This thing sounds great in this video, much better than anything in this price range with a proper sequencer not just a half assed gimmick. Definately will be getting one of these.
Must have!. This is literally exactly what I want!
Wow. So impressed with Behringer. They keep improving their products & making them more affordable.
I'm positive that bringing on Matt on the team was the smartest thing Behringer did for their synth sales. Awesome demo as always Matt!
Amazing little box. Another great Behringer creation! Keep on bringing the good stuff!
Behringer - excellent work on giving us the synths of our affordable dreams but even better you got Moot to demo them. This guy is a synth maniac and phenomenal player. Saw Moot playing a synthesizers.com giant modular demo from years ago and this guy absolutely amazed me with his playing and synth module knowledge.
Glad to see it’s not just clones y’all are pumping out. Taking little bits from your latest gear and putting it into this thing... Brilliant! Love this new direction and can’t wait to see more!
I like this Mike Behringbooxley guy.
mostly, except he seems to be channeling Chris Pratt
Barry Warne KJX who?
Kelly Merrill nuh uh. flying spaghetti monster.
You should make a black metal album anyway tho
Check out this performance on a synthesizers.com modular from years ago. This guy is awesome - th-cam.com/video/YP_XG08JHyw/w-d-xo.html
This is "the one" for me. I'm on one of the pre-order "waiting lists" (hopefully before the holidays) but this one takes me "way back" as an early "first gen' " 80s synth player, now songwriter/composer under professional rights organization BMI, Inc. I'll be using this one on both a retail album and also the commercially licensed music that I write and record. You can hear that deep analog sound, there a lot of magic in that box - "So says Mr.Tom, and so it was written..." - Oh.. and I hope everyone who reads my post, has a great upcoming holiday season. All the best !
Great product, affordable price, and Behringer is smart enough , to have someone who knows the product, properly demonstrate it. Great all around.
Instant buy! Will play nice with my Neutron, and D ,as well as the RD808 and Pro 1 I will be acquiring asap. Power and value all around!
Hey between the D and Neutron if you had to keep one, which would you choose
@@DeepDoseMusic dam both but that does not help so.. if I didnt have another synth it would the Neutron if I did the D. The Neutron is nuts with all the possibilities and the D is "that" sound at an affordable price. I prefer the D filter but the the Neutrons multi mode one is lovely too. This crave is right up my alley.
@@josephlepkowski2383 yeah I plan to have both eventually too. Sounds like the neutron requires some patching to get smooth and clean sounds. Also like the extra oscillator on the D. Good problem to have choosing between the two. Thanks
Is it just me, or would this, the minilogue xd, some eurorack modules, and maybe a small pedalboard make such a happy little analog family lol
very professional looking presentation, Moot. attaboy!
I somehow love this guy's proud presentation as much as the synth itself!
Thank you for showing that quality gear can be made for us commoners.
these new behringer products sound really clean but thru vintage pre amps and mixers they'll shine
finally, i can buy a second mother-32 without buying a second mother-32
Hahaha! Exactly!!
Plus you get a free sequencer with this Mother-32, and $400. Can’t beat that.
Well done again, Behringer
Very cool stuff. Excited to get my hands on one for future music making!
Been waiting for a stand alone sequencer like this from Behringer, but this will do fine, and for $199, its like the synth voice is free. Awesome!!
I just ordered the B. Odyssey and B. VC340 (both excellent gear!) I'm so excited and looking forward for what's coming up next from the Behringer front😃!!!
The sequence is very Love on a real train by Tangerine Dream. Great little synth!
Orange synth and Tangerine Dream, I see what they did there!
that was on purpose :))
@@mootbooxle dude as far as I am concerned you were NAMM this year. All your videos were killer.
Saam thank you my friend!
Excellent demo, Matt!
It literally wrecks everything that has been shown at this NAMM.
The Teenage Engineering KO-80 is pretty cool. Yamaha CS-80 clone that fits in your pocket.
Huh, when did they show that?
@@justinkinter8651 he's trolling
inf0tr8r lol, well, don’t I feel stupid
@@justinkinter8651 lol my heart skipped a beat when I read TE
This will fit in my workflow perfectly! I am going to do a video when I get one! Awesome!
This is pretty awesome. Haven't heard much about it but it looks like a great piece of kit, especially for the price.
holy mackeral andy! I am so SO glad I have been hemming and hawing on buying my analog synths. This is a total masterstroke Blitzkrieg. They have a whole slew of synths , many sharing technology(reduced R&D costs and mfg technique/production costs) aimed at (IMO) everything under the sun. Way to Schwing die Huefe! POCH!
Good job, I love how this one sounds
God I could play a whole damn set with just this and my sample on drums.
Now this is something I definitely must have! Should be an amazing first synth.
Thank you Behringer keep releasing these great affordable synths! I will buy them all! Just please please make a 2600!
If that's actually $199 then we really are in the golden age of synthesis
Great demo Moot!!!
Always loved those Rhodes demos btw :)
How do you sync a drum machine with one midi cable to the crave?
Booxle is a great presenter, looking forward to this one.
BRAVOOOOOO Behringer, finally a company that listens. Vox Populi Vox Dei. Cheers :):):)
32-step - excellent. Eliminates the "but I already have the SQ-1” argument and enables long sequences like in 3+3 by Vangelis.
This dude taught me how to make a talk box.
Even if this doesn't sound great or unique, it's still a super-cheap way to add some extra modules to your eurorack or other semi-modular; a cheap way to get a ladder filter, with bonus oscillator and whatever else (I've not seen the specs but I'm presuming just a single LFO and envelope? I didn't hear the details mentioned...)
Wow! Maybe they should have called this The Disruptor seeing as this is the era of disruptors and Behringer are now clearly the analog synth market disruptors.
I’m having trouble keeping up with all the new Behringer stuff. Had never seen this before.
Behringer now doing the right things finally, and mootbooxle is the man!
I think I'm going to get one of these as soon as it becomes available in Canada.
All demos so far cover only the bass register. I wanna hear som leady stuff! Som blipidiblop sizzily blooop, please!!
MARCUS SYNTAR will do!
@@mootbooxle Woohooooo!
SEARCH OUT FIRECHILD ON YT - HE MADE AN ENTIRE TRANCE TRACK INC. DRUMS WITH THIS BOX - CHEESY TRACK AS USUAL FROM HIM BUT IT SHOWS THE OPTIONS
Wow, just wow!
I love how the sequencer has CV control. That's something delightfully fucky.
Mr. Slugworth would be proud. Copied the Moog Model D, now the Mother 32, all they need is one for the DFAM.
Everybody loving Behringer synth products. For a long time, they've been known for cheap clone products of top brands, and not many people impressed. But for synth departments, looks like they're doing something right
Sounds great!
at this price-point the CRAVE is going to be THE beginners synth for those trying to get into analog synthesis... it's sounds great and gives access to a lot of features the heavy hitters have. I've already recommended this to three people who asked what their first synth should be.
Woah, that's a throwback, I remember you from your Ghetto Beatbox video's like 10+ years ago. No idea how you ended up at Behringer, but glad to see you're still a chill down to earth dude. Good demo!
You had my curiosity, but now you have my attention...
i can see people buying more than one of these
Steven McDougall I certainly would. Maybe they’ll consider making a 2-VCO deluxe version. They could probably price it just above the Neutron.
if it accepts aftertouch, and that can become PolyAftertouch across 4 or 8 of these ...
four or more of these with a controller for a poly synth with every voice unique...
these will be poly chainable.
Larry Wilson it’s got the same oscillators as the Neutron which already has 2 so I doubt they’d do that when you can just, idk, but the Neutron.
MVP award 🥇 goes Berhringer this year!
You can transport it by midi with the Keystep for £80
What a great little synth, I'm getting one. All we need now is a drum machine to match this, similar to the drumatix.
Need a perfect circuit demo to really show us what this thing can do.
I love the crave!!!!
holy crap that thing looks fun
This guy is funny but also cool and informative. Good presentation
sad he dsnt make it on the CV part of the tool
Lovely low-end on that thing.
Moot Booxle, a.k.a. Matt Bixby, Bob Buzzbee and Poots Maybe. Whatever the name, the man can really jam on the Behringer/ARP Odyssey!
The pitch on this thing is drifting like crazy. Noticed it on all 3 videos now.
Nice mini Synth , like !
Awesome!
Damn. I am wanting so many Behringer products right now...
Oh God not again!! Behriger is a Beast...
Hello, I was thinking about getting Korg Volca FM or Keys, but then I saw Crave and tbh I don't know what to do because I like it a lot. Can anybody tell me what's your opinion on this?
Looks like my new gear tax return's going to this one:) Wow, guys, Bravo!!
Behringer is on fire! They're churning out cool products after products! 😧
Except for my SH-101 I've not seen any synth offering realtime sequencer transpose.
Great to know the Crave has it.
The microbrute has a full sh101 sequencer style
I can transpose any of the 64 100 step sequences on my SH-01A with it’s local keyboard
Monologue can do it
Neutron can do it - I connect SQ1 sequencer via CV/Gate outputs and put midi keyboard to Neutron input - pressing keys transposes the sequence
Looks like this feature is far more common than I thought...
My DM12 is about to have a new homie
DM12 X CRAVE squaaaad!
Been this at usd199, Volcas should cost usd50 each
waxwaine lol what? No way. The Volca FM is basically a DX7 in a box. The Modular is every bit as powerful as this. The Drum is a PCM synth. There’s a lot under the hood of the Volcas and most of them are only $150. Don’t get me wrong this a very cool and very cheap synth also, but the it doesn’t the diminish the Volcas. Take the Modular for example. Same price, but has more patch points, a sequencer with motion sequencing and per step parameter locks and active step modes, a built in effect, and TWO analog oscillators. They both have their place.
@@HotStrange "The Volca FM is basically a DX7 in a box." - sorry, but this is ridiculous.
No they should not cost 50. Let us not do Korg down, the volca spawned it's own following and rightly so
@@ogasi1798 whats that supposed to mean dumbass its a price / performance thing not my football team
@@likethesunshine are you 10 years old?
When can we pre-order this beast?
Looks good, good connectivity and sound, but my Beatstep Pro is a better sequencer that also has cv and gate which I use with my Neutron; utilising paraphonic mode I can run two monophonic sequences simultaneously and independently of each other. I can also transpose and effect each step much like this does. Gr8 price for this unit though.
well noob phil, this is a synth and the beatstep is a sequencer. thats why they are different. makes sense?
@@lilakmonoke982 Did you read my post or just select words? I have the behringer neutron (a synth), and the beatstep pro (a sequencer). The crave combines these two elements at a very affordable price, however, I feel that I can get more diversity out of the setup I already own. Does that make sense?
Ok!!i like this!!
Really glad it can play acid bass lines, was worried.
When will this hardware beauty be released ?
Can the sequences be chained (ala song mode)?
hahaha you are the behringer guru ;-) but without jokes! that box is aweseome i wanna have it! ;-)
So with all these synths released, how about a fx unit? Behringer has TC Electronics, Midas and Klark Technic at their hands. Please, please a multi fx rack unit Behringer!!!
Agreed.
PLEASE, WHEN?
this is probably gonna be the best selling synth of 2019....
Fun future fact, it was!
@Behringer @mootbooxle when will the Crave release? What do I get if I get a Behringer tattoo (new logo)?
Amazing! When it comes to market?
Can the vco square and sawtooth outputs be connected into external input while the opposite is selected with the switch in the vco? I'm very anxious to get one of these babes
Can't wait for all these new products hitting the shop. I read something about March. Are most of these new products expected to arrive then?
I hope that I connect 3 of these together...
fantastico!!!!!
This does look pretty fantastic. Very minor complaint though - I really don't like the way the switch based approach to setting the MIDI channel. They have those numbered pads for choosing/ programming the sequence, would have been perfect for use with a shift button or something for setting the MIDI channel. But I guess this is at least consistent with their existing line
excellent
