- In this video I show how I get this over the top Creality CR-10 S5 printer to run with a heated chamber. You'll see that a lot of things aren't going flawless, but that's part of the process. I hope you enjoy this video!

I think the dude motor may have a different wiring of the connector, sometimes manufacturers do that
I second that. I definitely had „blocked“ wiring on some steppers and it was fixed by changing the connection.
I third that! I had the same issue when building my own Prusa and it took me so long to figure out it is just wired differently.

I think it’s always a bit confusing with stepper phases.. ABBA BAAB BABA ABAB. However, what helps a bit, is when you are shorting two of the wires (Stepper unconnected) and the motor feels blocked, you have found the first pair so the other two are the second pair. But searching for it on google will often be more confusing then helping;)
DO NOT change your video style. I was a professional video editor for 15 years and I love your work. It has a charm and honest randomness that I'd hate for you to lose. It has become your signature style that many people spend many many years to find.

@@DaveGee2010 Yeah, this channel is great. Other 3D printing channels only test printers these days, which is not what users want. People don´t need a fourth printer, they want ideas and cool projects. This channel just delivers in this department.

@@melissahill7930 To engineer something or engineering could be defined as; skillfully arrange for (something) to occur or the action of working artfully to bring something about. Winging it can be great for creativity all the while documenting every mistake in an arguably entertaining way for the world to learn from. I think he's got this.
@@danielvelthuis9415 Exactly, if you think a regular engineer always makes 1 mistake and keeps on being perfect afterwards, has never seen an engineer actually working and doing new stuff I think. Besides that, I am seeing a huge printer that appears to work, which is kind of the goal as an engineering piece.
@@melissahill7930 I think we're talking about extremes here. He's doing this for fun, which makes it totally fine already. A real engineer, and I've done my share as well, indeed makes notes and goes about it methodically, however.. you can still screw up then. Just with an added note to the notes. :) Ofcourse if you do so all the time, you're out of a job, but that's the difference with doing a thing for fun and doing a thing for a job. The idea that a channel should never show mistakes and making a nice video out of that, gives a wrong impression, people are people and noone is perfect. If all video's would only show the perfect choices and things that always work, that will give starters into the field a totally wrong idea of how to learn. Case in point; SpaceX. They had all kinds of issues with their new spaceship, from ground equipment to failing joints. That is however how they advance fast and learn... fast. Boeing is failing on all accounts almost recently, all with huge amounts of money and great engineers.

Things you build yourself never come with a decent manual or directions**. So, yes, things can get a little chaotic.

Things never go according to plan. But well done, that printer looks amazing
the extruded motor didn’t work due to the wiring. if you switch two of the wires on the plug, the small motor should work fine

The work you show us, and doing so just for the fun of it, is pure inspiration. It makes us work smarter and harder on our own stuff, and whatever fails you show, it just makes it more real for us. None of this works out of the box, and the least while trying something new no one has ever tried before. We are watching progress. And progress is good. Really good!
My guy, I have been watching your videos since the first couple were posted,... and Ive never felt like you had a "lack of script" necessarily, it always just felt "more real than scripted" to me. I highly enjoyed the feeling that you were talking directly with us, as you work through the problems and figure things out. In my opinion, it always gives your videos the vibe that we're on that journey of designing and creating and testing right next to you.
Either way, sorry I havent commented in so long, this year has been a living hell haha,... Stay safe and keep pushin out those ideas!!

Not only on technical perspective they're interesting when new and progressive ideas came up, also it shows what can go wrong and how to cope with problems (which being missed in all other 3D printing channels, where all goes perfect and in the end, out of the blue, magically a perfect benchy appears)

On the nonfunctional motor, try swapping the center 2 wires in the wiring harness connector for it. I ran into the same problem on a group of stepper motors that I bought. The windings were wired differently from normal, and that fixed it.

Nothing wrong with that pancake extruder motor, the coil wiring is probably just different!
Swap the middle two wires around and that'll probably fix it.
To late, as he destroyed the gear.
Getting a new one would be a good choice, as its realy just the pinout, and the hilbilly style fixing now, looks pretty bad.
Going by the sound, I agree. Stepper motors come as either A.A.B.B. or A.B.A.B. That one is mismatched.

I had the same issue with one or both of the z motors on my Voron 1.8 build. The motor wasn’t wired AABB or ABAB, so I had to figure out how it was wired with a multimeter continuity check. Once I found the pairs, it was an easy fix of putting a new end on the board side
