    I love coming back to this performance, they do such a great job throughout, even with Mike being sick.
    Everyone talks about how everyone Raps, but Paper Tiger and Lazerbeak put in WORK in the back there.

    This is my first introduction to this group. It's unusual for there to be so many members, but I love when artists are able to collaborate like this and form a unique partnership. They seem to have a wonderful group dynamic, and I love Dessa's voice.

    Lord how I miss this crew. I listened to everything they recorded about a million times, and saw them live whenever I could (in Massachusetts). To me there's never been anyone quite like them.

    I was born and raised in Minnesota. I love your music. It is the music to keep me "censored " I do love all of your solo work I appreciate all of your work. In the end of the day you are known and loved. It strikes hard for the people you have touched. I want more from you all, but I am more willing to pay in for some mercy. Thank you all for everything, I will continue that mercy and strength you give to us all. I show your music . Not because I want to, but it helped me...thank you please continue

    If ever there was a group of people that could give us hope for the future of art, passion and collaboration, it's Doomtree. Your circle of inspiration is leaking, thank you!

  • @basiccraig87
    @basiccraig87 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    (In order of appearance in circle)
    P.O.S.: Rapper/Producer
    Dessa
    Paper Tiger: Producer/DJ
    Lazerbeak: Producer/DJ
    Sims (possibly fucks with production)
    Mike Mictlan
    Cecil Otter: Rapper/Producer
    If you're lucky enough to live in Minneapolis (like me), you should most definitely check any of their solo shows or the large DTR Blowout that happens every year. One of the best parts about DTR is that they show up in force to support each individual artist in their crew. Crazy good.

    I like all of them, and their style, and their approach, and they are all handsome, and I would let all of them read me a book to go to bed, and I bet they hold doors open for people, and I bet they make great soup. I'm gonna read the comments, I bet someone wishes they wore more gold, acted more hard, and were less grounded, were less white, because that's what comments sections are about. Whatever, for any of that, they have earned a nice meal at my house if they come back through this time next year. This is what family looks like.

    • @Apropoetic
      @Apropoetic 10 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      Rap actually has it in abundance, particularly concentrated in the Twin Cities, Seattle and the Bay area in California. It's just that it doesn't get the mainstream play that the stuff you mentioned does. Generally can't go wrong with Doomtree, Rhymesayers, Heiroglyphics, Blue Scholars, Common Market, Bambu, Sage Francis...etc.

    P.O.S.
    Strengths: Amazing flow, snappy wordplay, versatility
    Weaknesses: NONE
    Dessa
    Strengths: Raps and sings seamlessly. Fantastic lyrics. Also very versatile.
    Weaknesses: NONE
    Mike Mictlan
    Strengths: Energy, speed, great flow. Fun to listen to.
    Weaknesses: Lyrics are often silly and meaningless.
    Sims
    Strengths: Charisma. Capable of great verses. Nice change-up in vocal tone from the other members. Spat pure fire on their S/T album.
    Weaknesses: Too many weak verses. Better on solos and duets, weaker on the ensemble songs. His Doomtree work has gone a bit downhill since the s/t album. NO weaknesses from that album alone.
    Cecil Otter
    Strengths: Has good cohesive ideas when he's also a producer, e.g. Heavy Rescue. Capable of strong lyrics. Also has great clarity; I can understand every word.
    Weaknesses: For all his strong lyrics he has weak ones too. Sometimes goes cornily stream-of-consciousness on us. Also not really a lot of charisma.
    I love the group, but P.O.S. and Dessa are the bread and butter of Doomtree. And Lazerbeak, of course.
