He looks more sinister in this reboot. His original design was nothing more than Firebrand on steroids.
I don't agree. While he did look like a firebrand on steroids, I preferred that incarnation to this version. he looked like a hulking monster, here he looks like a wimpy little non-boss guy that will fall over if a wind blows on him. He looks weak and pathetic.

Most Killer Instinct characters have a danger theme. Gargo's entire theme is his danger theme, because the whole thing just screams "You're F*cked".
This could fit in Doom. This song is kickass. The guitar and drums give that Hellish/evil god impression. Very fitting for Gargos the false tiger god!
It's funny cus Mick Gorden, the composer for season 1 and 2 did the ost for DOOM.

One of the reasons I like this game and Guilty Gear is how much fucking rock and metal is in the soundtrack
This has nowhere near as much metal as Guilty gear. A lot of it is traditional cultural music edited in with a couple guitars and an electro twist

This song really grew on my over time. It kinda has a Slayer vibe, but it also reminds me of the Devil from Tenacious D, which is fitting considering the '90s cheese of the original games. On the surface level it might sound samey, but if you closely listen there are some nice little variations of the same riffs hidden throughout the whole song. I also like how the aggression of this song counterpoints Gargos' cool, collected in-game demeanor. Modern Gargos has always struck me as the kind of villain who wants to come across as cunning, composed and sophisticated in front of his lowly foes he considers inferior, but anger him enough and he will show his true colors with animalistic savagery, just like Frieza or Jhiaxus from Transformers: Generation 2.

I like your analysis, it's quite considered when you also look at how the game mode where Gargos is the final boss is constructed, requiring planning and considered play on your own end, but let it be known that the comparison to Tenacious D's Devil planted the image in my head of Jack and Kyle's characters going absolutely Super Saiyan on the guy to similar music to this theme.

Its ok, but nothing as great as the seasons before. Mick did a very great job at creating an environment for the character that was presented within the stage. He was fucking perfect!
He was good but not as great as in season 2 (It seemed a little stale in some themes). Specially in Riptor's stage... I really did enjoy the new artists and its interpretation on the characters theme.
But yeah...hinnamatoom was gorgeous

I actually like Glacius' theme, its alien and other worldly.
Kan Ra's I find catchy. (And Im more of a fan of the MG mix.)
Riptor's, I actually will fight hell and back for, I think its an alright theme. Its a thrill of the hunt, which I find fitting for her.
Then we get to Season 3,
I actually like what I hear. Though I only like the trailer version of Rash's theme, I LOVE Kim's theme, I actually love Arbiter's theme, I fell in LOVE with Tusk's theme and Mira's theme Im pretty impressed by. (However, the laughing is kind of cringy.)
Gargos' theme could of been better, it kind of sounds off balance at times.
And for me, the guitar isnt really DROWNING, its kind of a mix with traditional and other things. (Which, I do like a mix of old and new.)
But then again, I cant change an opinion, but I can share why I do like it.
Jesus christ, years ago, I wouldn't be caught DEAD being this much of a fan of a game I thought looked ugly. (Um, I mean with the original games. I thought they looked pretty ugly.)

I'll admit its a little underwhelming considering how great KI's soundtrack, especially is for the character who has been hyped up across all three seasons, especially when he had a great base theme to remake from. Still, I don't quite get the hate, its still a very cool and intense theme, even if it has a bit less variety than some of the other songs.

Am I the only one who likes this theme? ._. I know it's not much different from the original but it still fits Gargos' legacy
It's not bad, it's just kind of disappointing imo. Then again, I felt like Aria's theme was underwhelming, so maybe it's just a villains' thing.

Eh... this one feels a little too monotonous, and illustrates the problem I have with AtlusPlug and celldweller. Mick Gordon had a rock guitar in all of his soundtracks, but it was most of the time blended into the atmosphere of his music, and the thematic instruments would overshadow the guitar, giving each track its own feel and identity. AtlusPlug and celldweller, on the other hand, try to make the guitar the main star of every track (except Mira's and Kim Wu's, the latter of which i would probably call my favourite of the soundtrack if they didn't use so much rock music and gave their Korean star some more space), and everything else just blends into the background and succeeds in making every track sound same-y.
Nowhere is this more clear than in Gargos' theme. With the original done in rock guitar, they felt they had to stick to that, and all we get is a monotonous rock soundtrack that does nothing to change up the music - in fact, it makes it all even more static. Gargos' original theme had more variety than this, I'd say.

Took the words right from my mouth. I loved all the themes from Mick, but these new guys just guitar-and-call-it-a-day. The only theme that really grabbed me was Tusk's.
I knew I had a problem with this theme and you put it into words perfectly. i mean I get it gargos looks like a good excuse to be metal as fuck, you even have the bells in the background, give those instruments some breathing room
***** I have fought Gargos in the Astral Plane. The music made it pretty underwhelming, and I reckon his KI2 theme would've made it feel better.
Hell, I'd fight a hundred Gargoses (Gargosi? Gargosen? what even is the plural for Gargos) if we could've gotten Mick back for this. The section in Shadow Jago/Omen's theme that was from Gargos' theme was top notch.
I knew people would ride Mick's dick no matter what when I heard someone else was going to do the soundtrack. Listen to Sadira's theme if you think Mick is that good. It's just noise. Literally just noise. You want monotonous? Mick's got monotonous.

God FUCK this boss fight, especially on the harder difficulties. I had the best time dealing with him using Fulgore, Omen and Jago but even then he will make you WORK for victory.
Really don't get the hate for this one tbh. I mean yea it could do with a bit more evil-ness, maybe an epic choir or something like that but for what it is, it is still pretty damn badass. Definitely not my favourite out of season 3, rash still holds that position proudly, but I still do really like this one
Gargos theme song on nintendo 64 was badass. Heavier than this. And I wish they would've kept Tusks theme song from there too.

Which Artbook? If it's the one with only the S1 characters by Double Helix, that's outdated and officially retconned by Iron Galaxy.
Iron Galaxy has made it clear that the game is a reboot of the franchise, some events from Classic KI may have inspired some of the backstories but officially everything is rebooted. The KI Wiki even makes this clear, with detailed backgrounds for each character, Eyedol doesn't even get mentioned in Orchid's story (we don't know if he'll even exist in this reboot) but we learn that Jago's and Orchid's father's name is Jacob.
I suggest you check it online, it should be under the characters in the (2013) section of the characters background and gameplay mechanics.

You didn't answer my first question. Was the book made by Double Helix or during their time developing KI (2013)? if yes, then it was a sequel with rebooted events based on the Classic Games, specifically the events in KI 2. Double Helix gave KI a lost identity when it came to story. Was it a reboot or a sequel? They confirmed it was a sequel long ago.
However, none of that matters since Iron Galaxy took over. Everything from KI is rebooted and nothing from that book holds merit (if it's the Season 1 artbook). Everything has been retconned and only a few things from the Classic stayed in tact.
Remember Glacius' race being peaceful and a ice-like race? He's a general now from his planet, with tech that makes his body fit into environments, not his physical body being made or resemblance to ice. Remember Orchid killing Eyedol? There's no mention of that event. Remember Orchid being part of an organization? She never was and made her own rebel faction against Ultratech. Remember Sabrewulf was cursed by Lycantropy due to his bloodline? He's now cursed by an accident with a family trophy he accidentally cut himself with, and his family is a European faction of monster hunters. The list goes on
Iron Galaxy has changed many things for the stories in KI. Little to nothing from the Classic KI's or anything by Double Helix (including the S1 Artbook) matter for Killer Instinct (2013)

You'd think having to do a PC port and shadow lords mode might be the reason why they had to cut back on some content for season 3 - due to a lack of time.

Hmm. Kinda feel like they didn't quite nail Gargos with this track. It's more "fulgore 2.0" than "otherworldly demon hellbent on conquering the planet." Not quite sure what it's missing, but it feels like it's mostly just some samey speed metal with a few bells and background screams thrown in. I dunno; I'm just not that impressed by this one.

I feel like this song gets a bit better around the five minute mark. The addition of that echoing scream sound in the background ads a surprising amount of variety. The last third is definitely my favorite part. Still a sweet song, just not the best.

Sounds good but underwhelming. I guess that sums up my feeling on the S3 soundtrack. It's kind of a shame, really. They did good with Tusk's and Arbiter's theme. It's weird knowing the fact that Omen, a single minion from god knows how many minions do Gargos have has a heavier theme than the Lovecraftian space-demon himself...
Let's be honest, it's hard to follow up two seasons of some of Mick Gordon's best work

But yeah, miss his work in KI. He just adds so much character into the... well, characters. And the folks he worked together with have all made great works themselves.
I was content with hearing his work in Doom but unfortunately the guy had a falling out with the devs. That was on him, of course, but still a shame.
I kinda liked S3's soundtrack, but maybe that's because I'm a Celldweller bias. Still a lot of tracks stand out to me. Kim Wu, Tusk, Rash, Mira, and especially the utter John Carpenter that is Eyedol. Gargos I will admit is a bit too metal, but it's still pretty good.
