“Anyone notice” Yes dude. Literally everyone who knows Spinal’s original theme noticed. I’m pretty sure every track in this game is a remake of their old themes. Or new for the new characters.
This character use to scare me when I was a child. I use to HATE skeletons when I was young and my brother would always use him against me. Though my god did they capture him so well in this game. This music is fantastic too, I love that they kept the old bone noises from the first one in there.
Sadly these days, I feel like kids have become so use to realistic and pretty visuals that I don't know if they even would be entirely scared of spinal. I mean he was a pile of pixels back when we were kids but those were like.. The hot graphics. This is damn epic. I tought for years how could look a game like KI with modern graphics and concepts, but I never imagined Spinal looking so badass and with swedish choirs screaming his name. DH really did a great job, it is so sad that they must leave this project to others.
I first heard this when I was in upper secondary school and loved it, I'm from Sweden so ofc it was fun to hear your language in a song I actually like (Sadly I find most of swedish music bad), but at the time I didn't know that it was Mick Gordon who did it. Years later I hear the DOOM soundtrack and fell in love with all of it instantly... AND NOW... even more years later I remember this song and go back to listen... And I find out that Mick Gordon made this as well... what a fucking master of a composer he is
After reading some of the posted lyrics on here, this song makes it seem like he's not a villain. In fact it kinda makes him look like a hero of old, leading an army from long ago and the people are trying to bring him back to get him and his army to help fight the enemy.
Basically. In the song's context, they're trying to summon their warrior god Spinal to leave the dead and give them his courage and strength to overtake their enemies.
Holy shit, Spinal's ultra combo is so damn hype. It's probably the best out of all three seasons, all the other ultras can barely get me as excited as Spinal's. I can even hear a little chant before the end of the combo that vaguely sounds like a bunch of guy yelling "Don't stop!"

RKosmik I say that it is perfectly fine until they release the soundtrack for purchase. As far as I know they haven't but if they did point me in the direction of it I'll buy it in a heart beat. The best thing about this song is that, according to the composer, this is basically a song about warriors attempting to summon Spinal to aid them in battle! That's fucking awesome!
I love the music in KI. Spinal and Fulgore's themes are probably my favorites. Jago's is pretty catchy also. I cannot wait for the season 2 characters!

The naval commander of the skeleton army, over the many centuries that the skeleton war has gone on for, spinal has made a name for himself, striking fear into the hearts of the opposition.
Mick Gordon is an absolute fucking madman. Not only did he make this soundtrack a tour de force and worthy of the KI name, but in so many ways it surpasses the old OSTs. Holy SHIT.
I have to agree with what a lot of people are saying about the themes. Each one brings their own style and personality, fitting the characters excellently. I also like them because they are both very image invoking, or so I see it. I can see this sort of song being sung by a bunch of Viking sailors as sort of an unholy sea shanty, or something like that. Which, of course, with Spinal's pirate theme fits him excellently.
What can I say, knowing the original well. This is an absolute master class in converting yet keeping all. This is genuinely a great track even If killer instinct didn't exist, that's a testament to the talent put into this. Well done.
Is it wrong for me to imagine myself, sword in hand, charging into a horde of enemies...and killing the whole lot of them single-handed? And all this happens with this theme in the background?

***** Ahaa.. I get your point, I guess I choice my favorite music by the feeling that marks on me. And Sabrewulf's has this heartbreaking and maddening melody, that transports me immediatly to this gothic Frankensteinian world of night, shadows and evil experiments. I think that's the magic of Mick's music, he know how to give personality to the songs, something really weird in producers nowadays.
***** I admit that I put Sabrewulf's theme first because over everything else he's my main character. Plus I love the Gothic feeling of it. Although I do admit that the pacing isn't the best but I enjoy it just the same. I love the fact that Spinal's theme is so freaking dark. It fits him perfectly I think.
Syn Slonca I think that's what this soundtrack does so well in General. It does an amazing job of letting you know exactly who the theme pertains to. Each one sounds so fitting with the character. I just hope they decide to officially release this soundtrack in some form (even if it's not the complete themes that RKosmik put together so I can buy it and support this game in another way.
+jobey burgoon, well they need someone to protect them and they seek revenge on their attackers, so they choose to summon a dark viking-god to help them in battle. Also the viking gods are often very bloody and what other would think as dark or demonic, like Odin imprisoning his grandchildren for eternity for just being born differently. They mirror the harsh society that that worshiped them, and who needed to be harsh themselves to survive.
Did you know that every day millions of skeletons are summugled through airport security? Inside each and every one of us there is a skeleton just waiting to burst out.
I agree with those who say that this is the best theme from KI. The mix of old and new is amazing it feels epic and really feels like there a conjuring of an old warrior taking place I can almost picture a large group of Viking/nords singing this in a dark forest around a fire each and every one looking barbaric

2 years later and three seasons of K.I. later and after many beat em ups being released after this game and to just name a few SF5, tekken 7 injustice 2 I have to say Microsoft have really done the fans justice with this old and new there’s something here for all fighting game fans.
This song is great and all, but its kinda weird for a nordic person like me, as the singing and chanting here is definitively swedish. I guess its pretty cool though, not many games use scandinavian shit.

This is damn epic. I tought for years how could look a game like KI with modern graphics and concepts, but I never imagined Spinal looking so badass and with swedish choirs screaming his name.
DH really did a great job, it is so sad that they must leave this project to others.
I first heard this when I was in upper secondary school and loved it, I'm from Sweden so ofc it was fun to hear your language in a song I actually like (Sadly I find most of swedish music bad), but at the time I didn't know that it was Mick Gordon who did it. Years later I hear the DOOM soundtrack and fell in love with all of it instantly... AND NOW... even more years later I remember this song and go back to listen... And I find out that Mick Gordon made this as well... what a fucking master of a composer he is

After reading some of the posted lyrics on here, this song makes it seem like he's not a villain. In fact it kinda makes him look like a hero of old, leading an army from long ago and the people are trying to bring him back to get him and his army to help fight the enemy.
Indeed, he comes across as an ancient hero who was deified for his actions and is thus now worshipped as a God.
Basically. In the song's context, they're trying to summon their warrior god Spinal to leave the dead and give them his courage and strength to overtake their enemies.

When I die, and I come face to face with the grim reaper, my only wish that this song plays as my spirit battles it's way into the afterlife.
Holy shit, Spinal's ultra combo is so damn hype. It's probably the best out of all three seasons, all the other ultras can barely get me as excited as Spinal's.
I can even hear a little chant before the end of the combo that vaguely sounds like a bunch of guy yelling "Don't stop!"
The intro is so powerful and hypnotizing, like a chant or mantra. Spinal's theme is fucking amazing.
That's exactly it. The whole song is ONE huge chant of warriors to their god Spinal in order for his aid in battle.

In my opinion this is one of the best themes in killer instinct I heard in a long time this definitely fits spinal as a theme

The naval commander of the skeleton army, over the many centuries that the skeleton war has gone on for, spinal has made a name for himself, striking fear into the hearts of the opposition.
Mick Gordon is an absolute fucking madman. Not only did he make this soundtrack a tour de force and worthy of the KI name, but in so many ways it surpasses the old OSTs. Holy SHIT.

I have to agree with what a lot of people are saying about the themes. Each one brings their own style and personality, fitting the characters excellently. I also like them because they are both very image invoking, or so I see it.
I can see this sort of song being sung by a bunch of Viking sailors as sort of an unholy sea shanty, or something like that. Which, of course, with Spinal's pirate theme fits him excellently.

***** Ahaa.. I get your point, I guess I choice my favorite music by the feeling that marks on me. And Sabrewulf's has this heartbreaking and maddening melody, that transports me immediatly to this gothic Frankensteinian world of night, shadows and evil experiments. I think that's the magic of Mick's music, he know how to give personality to the songs, something really weird in producers nowadays.
***** I admit that I put Sabrewulf's theme first because over everything else he's my main character. Plus I love the Gothic feeling of it. Although I do admit that the pacing isn't the best but I enjoy it just the same.
I love the fact that Spinal's theme is so freaking dark. It fits him perfectly I think.
Syn Slonca I think that's what this soundtrack does so well in General. It does an amazing job of letting you know exactly who the theme pertains to. Each one sounds so fitting with the character. I just hope they decide to officially release this soundtrack in some form (even if it's not the complete themes that RKosmik put together so I can buy it and support this game in another way.

+jobey burgoon, well they need someone to protect them and they seek revenge on their attackers, so they choose to summon a dark viking-god to help them in battle. Also the viking gods are often very bloody and what other would think as dark or demonic, like Odin imprisoning his grandchildren for eternity for just being born differently. They mirror the harsh society that that worshiped them, and who needed to be harsh themselves to survive.
This is awesome! No wonder this song took so long to make.

2 years later and three seasons of K.I. later and after many beat em ups being released after this game and to just name a few SF5, tekken 7 injustice 2 I have to say Microsoft have really done the fans justice with this old and new there’s something here for all fighting game fans.
