He married to hurt Cuddy, she to get a green card. Later on, him for the 30K, she still for the green card. The point of this episode was she was becoming content being with him and he was comfortable with her. She started looking at him with fondness and he was too, in his House sort of way. Two most usual ways ppl hook up. Attraction is first, then proximity is second. Attraction being lust, or love, at first meeting. Proximity being long time exposure to each other with feelings developing. That was what happened here. That’s why House didn’t tell her about the approval for the green card. He liked her being there. She did too, until she felt betrayed by his not telling her.

We also don't wet sign anything and in the old days it was stamps. Surprisingly the type font, spacing, and symbols / markings are all basically spot on. Only major detail is that we give you approval for Cit the same day you test for the N-400. You also only go to a courthouse if it is a judicial ceremony for your convenience or due to a legal name change. You also don't get to pick a courthouse, we do that for you.

      House is a sociopath. He doesnt have “feelings.”

    • @nfinn42
      @nfinn42 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      House is terrified of rejection and loss. That's a key reason for the nasty, rude exterior: if you push people away so they never get close, then you never have to risk losing them.
      He's afraid that if he shows affection or attachment, it will become an emotional entanglement that will jeopardize his solitary, safe, hermetic life. And he throws away the letter to trap her with him because it's already too late - he's already begun to care about her. Which means he's just doing damage control for his fragile ego.
      And the worst part is, House KNOWS he always winds up hurting the people he cares about. So he also has a semi-legitimate reason to push people away: to protect THEM (even though really it's about protecting himself).
      So that factors into his reasoning recursively. This creates a positive reinforcement loop: the nastier and more abusive he becomes, the more he becomes convinced of his own toxicity to others, the more he will work to push others away before he can hurt them, the more he WILL hurt them, the more convinced he becomes that he must push people away preemptively, thus the more nasty and abusive he will become. This results in the spiraling behavior we see that keeps ending in various kinds of s*icide attempts culminating in the burning building at the end of s8. (One fantheory is that House really did die, and the funeral and everything after are just his dreams / his afterlife.)

    • @justalonesoul5825
      @justalonesoul5825 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      People dont necessarly "try to hide it", no. They just reason with it, or the "good side" is simply stronger ; those people may just have more back bones... We all have destructive thinking from time to time, but what we can do is nurture it and let it grow, or leave it and nurture the good/positive/constructive one. House IS seriously flawed, and most of the time he just justifies himself being and staying that way instead of actually doing something about it, which is clearly not one of his qualities. The ego acting out is clearly not any type of valid excuse, if you know what I mean.

    • @jpdj2715
      @jpdj2715 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      His thinking aloud, his conversations with Wilson, and his team, are needed in the drama [1] for the viewer to understand what is going on. Every "normal" psycho- or socio-path would keep that reasoning to themselves. The training hospital setting is nice when the lecture auditorium is in the picture but the "constant" diagnostic debates between a team of paid MD seem highly unrealistic (from a getting paid per treatment point of view). House's team in the series is run as a separate legal entity "partnership" where he is the managing partner, owning the entity and responsible for its P&L - within the hospital as legal entity and with distribution of responsibilities and liabilities between them. Such entities are "P&L first" and many MD have left them out of frustration about how this works, and the hierarchies, or sexual harassments, within these.
      Making people's internal thoughts explicit, in literature happened first AFAIK in Stendhal's novel "Le Rouge et Le Noir" (1830 - the red and the black) subtitled first "Chronique du XIX e siècle" (chronic of the 19th century), later subtitled "Chronique de 1830" (chronic of 1830).
      Part of what we see as thinking aloud reasoning in this drama would happen in the subconscious. The word subconscious in the written/published English language according to Oxford English Dictionary (OED) first happened in 1834. Freud used it first in 1893. The concept, in writing, we find as early as 2,400 years ago in Greek philosopher Plato's "cave" metaphor.
      In classical drama there was the concept of unity of place, time and action. This relied on "messengers" to inform the audience, what happened elsewhere or in another time. Changing a "set" was not so easy, so this trick was used as a work-around. In the case of House, the thinking aloud and most conversations replace the messengers.
      That all said, it's highly entertaining drama. I threw the telly out of the house over 30 years ago for content not being good enough. This is one exception. The DVD set of this series takes Amazon in my country "generally until August" for them to deliver one box to my home. That's the sad part of consequently having to do with these more or less random extractions in whytoob.
      [1] drama is the classical word for stage play and the writing for it, and can include both tragedy and comedy.
