It's kinda crazy that Samsung and Google be selling damn near $2,000 phones and don't give them their best cameras! The OnePlus Open proves that they can put the best hardware on a foldable without making it even more expensive. But even though it's nuts that they don't I'm not really mad because it's gives me excuse for carrying 2, a fold for everything and a slab for the cameras.
But it makes no sense at all that these Foldables can't have the best camera and the Pixel Fold is thick with a big camera hump they easily could have put flagship cameras in it.

My Zfold 5 is my favorite phone but I'm still having fun with my S24U so 🤷 If I had a brain I probably would have stopped with the OP Open but you know me, I'm a sucker for OneUI😅
Yesss great job Mr. Pixel!!! I'm still loving my Pixel Fold even after the honeymoon stage ended. I definitely enjoy the camera on the Pixel Fold, but after seeing your video on the Pixel 8 Pro Camera (How to take better photos!!!), I can see how the Pixel 8 Pro really is preferable for smartphone photography. That's not at all saying the Pixel Fold has a bad camera, even you weren't saying that, it's a great camera but photographers pay closer attention to details lol. Oh and the Pixel's hook on me is the AI features and the fact I never get spam calls anymore, the Pixel Fold specifically, it's hook is using two apps at once 🙌🏼

Love my Pixel Fold, 6+ months later --- great honest review, fair and unbiased ---- an underappreciated feature is watching 3:4 content (old tv etc) FILLS the inner screen beautifully - thx for the review
Hi, I'm writing to you from Italy. I went from a Z Fold 5 to a Pixel Fold. what for many is the worst thing about the Pixel (the aspect ratio) for me was the best thing. I understood that the internal display must be used when we feel the need for it, on the Z Fold you have to use it because the external display is really not very usable. for me this makes all the difference 👋👋
Wouldn’t mind giving it a try but that was before I got the pixel 8 pro. I use both plat forms iOS and android , but the pixel 8 pro just kills it man ! I find my self using it more than my 15 pro max . So the pixel fold ….. It’s up in the Air for now .
@@DalevonDigital man I got a question for you. My pixel 8 Pro photos haven’t been looking “pixely or pixel-like” lately. Pixel photos used to have sort of an artificial look to them that I liked. Now my pics look kind of bland. Did Google send out an update or something and tone things down?

After the hype, after the updates, it's actually pretty solid. Right at launch I wasn't a fan honestly but having used the Z Fold5 and OnePlus Open, I actually find I personally prefer the Pixel Fold. While not a fan of the heft, I do like the build / size of the build. I also agree, the cameras could be a lot better considering the price. Unfortunately it just seems like ALL folds at this point give us subpar cams and specs in some areas while still charging more for the fact that it folds. Maybe in 2024 we see a shift and see high end specs/cameras dropping on foldables, or at the very least, prices go down now that there's more competition in the space.
Yep I agree with you. Hopefully we get better cameras soon for the price of these Foldables. I'm looking forward to the Pixel Fold 2. But I do appreciate Samsung and OnePlus offerings but they aren't for me. Don't like the ratios.
Love mine running Android 14 beta QR2 the software is nice. I had mine since launch only 900.00. The camera software updates is awesome the best camera on a foldable.
Good review. I appreciate your honest opinions. I was going to mention that if you open up developer options, and set the contrast to high, there's no issue if you open up your phone outside. The Fold is the best phablet on the planet.
I loved the fold BUT I had to trade it in. My reasons were the software was lacking in features and I use my phone alot and the pixel was just too heavy. I did enjoy my time with it though but had to go back to the z fold for productivity reasons. Hopefully the p fold 2 will be lighter and have more features
I have the OnePlus open and can confirm what you said is true about watching video on the inside display. Kinda sad but TBH I think this phone is much better than the narrow z fold 5 outer display. I would've gone with the Pixel fold if it wasn't for the base being 256GB storage and 12GB ram.

You should wait for the Fold 2 if you can. But yeah I do have an iPhone 15 Pro but just don't enjoy iOS so I don't use it much.
