Mine is at the dealership in Glenview waiting for the CARB certification before I can officially take delivery. After having it on order for more than two years, I am excited to finally get it!
Update from my Lotus dealership matches your update… “yes, your car and other 6 are on the water, and will be at MAG middle to late December however, they have not passed the emissions/Cally Carb issue, so we have to HOLD and store all the EMIRA until 2/1/24”
She also gave me the little thermos and the duffel bag. They’re all legit, none of it feels cheapo, although don’t expect like $400 quality from the duffel. But it’s not cheapo crap either, by any means.
How come the U.S. CARB certification process for Lotus Emira is taking 2 1/2 years? And this is with a Toyota V6 engine from a Camry with an added U.S. made supercharger. The Emira was launched in the U.K. summer 2021. I think most car models from around the world that has from the beginning been designed to be sold in the U.S. market goes through the CARB certification a lot quicker than this Emira V6. Also; why haven’t Lotus managed to run the Automatic version through CARB in parallel with the Manual version? Do they lack the power as a manufacturer, or the financial resources to do this? And finally; why weren’t they also able to CARB certify the third version of the same car; the i4 that in fact has less emissions than its two brothers? If you study the history of the Emira; it was actually originally developed to become the completely new Emira model with the first time ever non-Mercedes, and also first time ever mid-engine application, of the AMG M139 4-cylinder turbo engine and AMG DCT gearbox. This is actually the only car that Lotus has named ‘Emira’ (only) without additional names (like V6). The V6 was a ‘by the way’ version with the same engine and configuration as the previous ‘Evora’. But the point here is to ask why Lotus weren’t able to CARB certify this original, lower emission, version of the Emira in parallel with the V6 versions, and why will this, so-called i4 version now take an extra year (at least) to be certified. The question also about the whole (California initiated) CARB approval process. Why does it take so extremely long time?
A lot of good questions, but also ones to which I imagine there are no good or satisfactory answers. We can only speculate and wonder. Thanks for watching!
Full CARB just approved! It's coming.
Thanks for sharing your new updates regarding the Lotus Emira V6 manuel!😎👍🏻

Going to wait for the AMG. Dealer said I may be able to switch orders to another Emira (V6) if they have any extra available.
Interesting. Let me know if you do switch. Thanks for watching!

Hope so!
Appreciate your insight. It has been rather frustrating playing the waiting game.
My pleasure. Thanks for watching! Any idea when you'll get yours? I'm guessing April for mine.

Thanks for the additional confirmation... So 2 more months for you?
2025 for the i4? Last I talked to my dealer was q1 24......
I wouldn't place any bets on any delivery dates until we've seen several months of steady deliveries in the U.S.
Oh I have that hat, my GF gave it to me. It’s actually a nice hat. The style is not really me but quality wise it’s definitely nice.
She also gave me the little thermos and the duffel bag. They’re all legit, none of it feels cheapo, although don’t expect like $400 quality from the duffel. But it’s not cheapo crap either, by any means.
Thanks for the feedback. I might visit a dealership after Christmas and see if they have some stuff in stock like that cap.
i got a very nice Lotus jacket on a website in England.
Cool. so there is hope?!? I'm just not much of a shopper. Thanks for the tip.
FML - I have I4 order
Bummer, but thanks for watching!
