I have its sister car the Smart #1 Brabus, the summer temperature makes a massive difference to the range. The charging speed is the same as the Volvo. At least when I plug in the charging screen comes on itself and gives the voltage, amps, speed etc. much better software in general.❤
It will be interesting to see how the EX30 performs in our hot Aussie summers, I'd imagine we will take a similar hit on efficiency as they do during the winter.
Regarding the restoration of the E6 after the landslide, they now are pretty certain that it will be open for traffic the second week of July, so soon you will be able to do the normal tests on this route 🙂
We drove with my Tesla MY LR 2023 from Germany Stuttgart to Austria near Vienna with around 180 to 200Wh/km. 3 persons and back was fully loaded with Bags n stuff. We drove around 120KM/h.
@@BombArieNL we don't argue about designs because it's subjective. I don't like the ex30, small inside, not efficient enough, shitty software. But I wish you a pleasant ownership.
19:14 that UI not tapping through to the charging screen is moronic, and needs to be fixed ASAP. Also your point about the charge rate in kW being hidden is so right! It's the easiest way to see if the charger is not working correctly. I don't want km/hour, just kW. Fix this Volvo, and you'll have another customer.
I doubt Bjorn, if it’s the fastest Volvo. The EX40 will charge way faster compared to the EX30… and with this weather, consumption isn’t that much better in the EX30 if I see your video… Can you do the EX40 Single Motor Extended Range again in this weather? I’m really curious
Agree with you, the C/XC40 will be almost as efficient and charge a lot faster and have fewer charging stops due to the larger battery. Bjorn need to test again.
Does the 'bottle in steering wheel' hack still work for pilot assist? Great test again, interesting to see how much difference there is between 90 and 130kph wh usage
I enjoy your videos. I couldn't help but notice your OBD Displaying phone app. I'm currently using the Torque OBD2 performance and diagnostic tool on my Android phone... with a relatively inexpensive Bluetooth dongle. It works great with my 2022 Bolt EUV. I'm in the USA and very concerned about the status of my/our EX30 reservation(s). However once and IF we do get to buy our EX30s. I assume I can unplug my dongle from my Bolt and plug it into the EX30, and the readings should map appropriately to my app's setup. This since both cars theoretically have the same PIN layout. What do you think??
AWD variant still uses only the rear permanent magnet motor when you are not accelerating more than ~60% of the total power. Front induction motor is not providing any torque on highway speeds. The only losses with AWD is the front motor differential and reducer. So most probably the efficiency will remain the same even though S3XY button function is enabled.
Front motor is only used for rapid acceleration, ABS % TC. If you cruise at 120km/h the front motor isn't "on" with or without S3XY buttons, any efficiency gained/lost is down to pure circumstances.
@@Freon14 10%!?! Not even the LR RWD model that didn't even have motors in the front had more than a 7% increase. Of course you can easily get a 10% efficiency gain if you drive like a maniac before you turn of the front motors :)
I don't want to mention Tesla all the time, but why is the consumption of competitors still so high? On a b road (70 to 80km/h) my M3 rwd is averaging 110wh/km...
Aerodynamics, efficiency of the thermal management system, performance of the thermal management system, and fewer parts (i.e. less weight) due to the tight integration of all the various systems versus getting each system from a different parts supplier. Sandy Munro's deep dive take-apart videos on the Model 3 and Model Y make it pretty clear. Now if only the software/UI in my wife's Model Y didn't piss me off to no end...

I think it's funny how your Summers are basically the same as our Winters here in Brisbane (Australia)! Fine sunny days, tops of 24-26 degrees. 🙂

Lucky you. I am way higher than this in the Model Y Performance.

Kris Rifa has tested the C40 against the EX30 Twin Motor. The total journey time was approx 1 min extra in the EX30. So really there’s nothing in it.

Are you saying it’s doing 228wh per KM?. As the conversation on screen makes it a lot more than this
For the annoying navigation popups, you can swipe them to the side to get rid of them. But so dumb. The UI is the worst thing about the car.

ID. 4 facelift has same efficiency
The model 3 is a sedan.
So don’t mentioned it. FYI: There is an audience who like to drive a much better looking car than a Model 3. That’s why.
Most competitors are building cubes on wheels, with little thought to aerodynamics.
Why was the first stop so early with 30%? I don't get it! Was the plan not to have the first stop after ~280 km?
Do you think there will be a car in the next years that will beat the 10 hour mark?
He's already done it 30 times in various EV in under 10 hours. Model S in under 9
I'm sure most of the cars BYD will be releasing within the next years will be able to break the 10 hour mark easily.
