You missed all the good ones. 1. The headrest is reversible so that when it is reversed it will accommodate a racing helmet. 2. It comes with tow hooks by the spare tire jack (2017 Only?). 3. Four ties fit in the back with the seats down for track days.
Two more features. First, the trunk has a key lockout. Open the trunk and hidden on the left near the floor is a small button. Its hard to see. Push that button and the keyless entry ceases to work and you can't even open the trunk with the dash button. You can only open the trunk with the physical key hidden inside the fob. It can be annoying if you acidentally depress that button! I had my BRZ for two years before I discovered this feature. Second, there's a 12Volt outlet behind the glove box: not an unusual feature except that it's plastic dummy plug also fits the engine sound pipe in the passenger footwell perfectly! Very useful for those times when you want interior noise a few dB lower.
My LS400 had this feature in 90💀💀😂 I remember my mom was buying a Kia Sedona and the salesman was bragging about front windows up and down automatic and the seats being hand controlled. I laughed so hard at how far some brands are behind.
Little known fact about the Brz. 12v outlet in glovebox and it handles canadian winters quite well with (duh) proper tires. In fact, Experienced winter drivers will prefer the nannies all off. This car really gives you the "Shut up, I've got this" feeling. That's why I love my drift monkey.
The 2018 86 has that little cubby hole. Perfect size for keys. Especially as I test drove and the guy said yeah I could just keep it in my pocket but was naturally drawn to the little cubby 😂
There's also an 'Acoustic tube' thing in the passenger footwell. This is connected to the air intake of the engine and makes the engine sound louder in the cabin. You can also get bigger tubes for a different sound. Or you could just take foam out from it. To make it quieter, just use the plug from the glove compartment 12V socket and shove it in there
If you push and hold the traction control button the one on the left for five seconds it will also turn it off fully instead of having to wait till the car is warm and having to do the ‘pedal dance’
I know you just did the interior, but what else is cool, is our trunk being like a safe with that cool ass trunk lock button. Also, I owned my FRS for over two years, and just figured out how to visually display what gear I’m in like 2 days ago. Had to turn it off though cuz it distracts me due to the fact that is strangely fascinates me.
the low settings for your headlight are for when you have something heavy in the back or in the trunk so you won't shine in the eyes of other drivers :) every car have it
Most cars allow you to adjust the brightness of your instrument cluster. as for the headlight setting: You're supposed to have it on the highest setting and then adjust the headlights to manufacturers specs. If you add weight to the back of your car the rear drops and the nose rises as a result, which causes you to blind oncoming traffic. This setting allows you to lower your headlights to counter this effect. Most Xenon and LED cars have automated sensors, since they tend to blind oncoming traffic a lot more than Halogens
I have noticed that with Xenons. They are so bright that sometimes I think they have their full beam on. Also when they go over a bump, it looks like they are flashing you
I'm curious about that cause my BRZ doesn't have that switch. I would actually use it at car shows and stuff. I can't find anything about it online so they must have got rid of it early. Do you know anything
Dash panel dimmers come on most every car. The reason for them is to reduce glare. Darker it is on the inside the better you can see out. I wish cars would allow you to completely black out the dash lights - but it only goes down to a certain point.
Kai van der Bijl not all cars. I have been in plenty without them. I just wanted to point it out because it is a sports car and it really isn’t the first thing you’d think of when wanted to get a family friendly car.
It is really up to you. It is like any other manual car. If you are going to be driving in the city a lot or always in traffic you might want to consider the auto for convenience.
I live in NYC Brooklyn as well and have been interested in getting this vehicle for years. It might be annoying to drive manual in traffic after a while but it depends on how much of enthusiast you are. BRZ isn't a car with a lot of power and is completely focused on balance and driver oriented dynamics. Putting auto in it not only makes the vehicle slower by 2-3 seconds, there is extra weight and you as a driver become less engaged in the car. The purpose of this vehicle is to be connected to it as much as possible. I understand getting an auto WRX, golf R, or other raw turbo power AWD, but BRZ is a purist vehicle that with auto completely kills its entire point. You will not achieve anything close to what this car offers by driving auto. This car isn't made for lazy numb commuting where you want to space out and ignore any attention to driving. It was build so every time you shift or turn the wheel you obtain a joyful and rewarding experience. In addition constant clutch engagement and shifting becomes natural with time and you will stop noticing it while you do it. If none of what I said above interests you or you're unsure make some kind of arrangement with the dealer and get a manual BRZ for a few days or maybe a week if they're nice about it. However most common allowance for extended test drive is overnight.
let me disagree a little: difference in acceleration is less than 1 sec. (according to papers, but in real live - it is close to 0.5 sec), this extra weight is about 20kg, and this auto gearbox is made basing on lexus auto gears and it is switching gears in 0.2 sec in paddle mode. I am still waiting for mine, but took several tours with 2013 gt86 auto and I was surprised, how fat the auto works. That is why (and also broken leg issues) I've ordered the automatic.
on the FRS all u have to do to turn traction completely off is hold the traction button (not the vsc button) but traction button for 10 to 30 seconds & it turns ur traction control completely off so u can do them smokers!! I own a 15 FRS been daily driven for 3yrs have 75,000 miles on it & have enjoyed every single mile I've put on even with commuting back n forth to work every day
Mark Zimmer I only hold down traction control for 3 seconds and it turns everything off you can also have sport mode on at the same time while everything is off.
Pretty much every car, regardless of how much of a sports car it may be, will have the baby seat anchors. Some people buy sports cars and then have a baby after the fact, before they are able to get another car. Also, most newer cars have the self locking feature.
This guy has never owned a modern car. Most of those "exclusive" features are normal for most cars these day. Adjustable brightness, LATCH system for child seats, auto-relock if you don't open the door, removable cup holders, just to name a few. Also the lack of NAV on the newer models was probably the difference between the Premium and Limited models, Limited has always had NAV.
I have a question for you, can you get into your car if your battery dies? My aunt's car is a Ford Five Hundred and it does not have a keyhole so you have to have it towed when the battery dies which is a pain in the butt. Just curious.
@@alextunjic Glad to hear that because keyholes are disappearing fast. These engineers are forgetting it is always good to have a mechanical backup if and when electrical items fail.

All in all, I've shat on you quite a bit, but honestly it's a good video with decent content. I guess some of the things you didn't know because you're not a professional or spend too much time around modern cars (atleast european cars, which have most of these features in a similar or the same way), so all is forgiven. This is the first video I've seen by you, and it seems like you've got potential. Gain a bit more confidence, I'm sure it's scary as hell. You're getting my thumbs up and sub.
my personal comments, no offence This little hole near start button can carry a pack of cigarettes, parking card, garage remote and it is really not hard to get. Light brightness control - it is really handy, if you are driving out of the city during dark, cloudy night - factory dashboard lights can be too bright. Light level control - can sound strange, but if you pot something heavy to your trunk (50-70 kg is enough) - your headlight goes up, and then you should lower them to not disturb other drivers. Infotainment - I do not know Subaru, but GT86 audio&nav is a crap - better to order car without this unit and buy some aftermarket solution. Shiftlight is not a best way to people learning to drive manual, maybe if you change it to 3500-4500 rpm. If you give a rookie BRZ/GT86 with shiftlight set at 6500 and tell him - change gear if lights - the best way to kill a manual beginner. I own the BRZ 2017 modle now and almost everything you said makes more sens then inn the video, even the small hole can fit the keyless entry key as well if you have nothing attached to it, but the shifting light is something NO ONE uses, not even beginners :/ it's there if you want to save fuel or doing the brake in, but in the end you shoudl check your speedo every few sec tbh so the light imo is useless but in the newest modle you can order NAV and btw don't bother... it's crap....
must have been his first car, which is the best explanation I can think of for some of his "thoughts/revelations" ...the LATCH system is a federal regulation and just because it's a 2-door sports coupe, doesn't mean it can't haul other people - children or adults; granted it's not a Suburban, but it can still hold people. Plus, there are things such as single parents or those who resist the urge to buy a minivan/cuv, etc, so why can't the BRZ/86/FRS be a "family" car?
