    Missing the bolt that holds the fins in position. Anyone know the name of it? It’s not in the parts diagram.

    For blades I take one set in to get sharpened and buy a brand new pair about every four years - those Lazer blades are expensive! Costs me 10 bucks to have the blades sharpened, so it's worth it to me. I always have a spare set though just in case I dull them while drilling!

      Sand will kill a set up Lazer Blades quick!

      @@DWSOutdoors I dulled my dad's Jiffy when drilling into sand in a hole once! Wouldn't even drill a second hole! My buddies and I had to ask to borrow someone else's auger! I did that to my hand auger once as well. Tipped my minnow bucket getting onto the ice when the sled tipped so I drilled a hole to get water for the minnows, not thinking how deep it was close to shore!

    Just thought I’d let you know I figured out how to start my 40v because of this video. Couldn’t get it to go watched an unboxing and the guy hit power button & it started. Didn’t work for me checked battery, 4 lights not set in right? Only way it would go. Watched your video and found I had to hit switch (gas) under and then power button. Thanks you. Booklet that comes auger is worthless

    Good points ...one thing I learned yrs ago... coat the blades for storage..these days I use fluid film. Just habit.. I don't care if they are brand new or used they get a coating for storage

    Another good tip is to keep dielectric grease on the battery terminals

    • @DWSOutdoors

      @@DWSOutdoors might be a good idea to keep corrosion off of those terminals..I purchased my 40v in November and still have not used it..this weekend I got to get it out!

      I've got a StrikeMaster 40-volt lithium-ion 10in and I went up in northern Maine on the awake with 36 + inches of ice. So much I had to lift up move the slush from the hole so I can get last inch or 2 to punch through. Drilled over 40 holes. And they were overlapping still had two bars when I get back to the camp

    Instructions say to grease the shaft before installing the auger.

  • @fishlovme

    The only other thing I can think of to check, possibly, is if the auger itself is starting to chip paint. I think they make some kind of sealer you can put over it to slow down the paint chipping. Personally I don't go that far, but some others might care to have a paint chip-free auger

    • @DWSOutdoors
      @DWSOutdoors  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ice tends to build up on unpainted parts of augers and it can then rust also so its probably a good idea to get that covered up asap!

    Awesome tip! I always keep extra blades and I found that it's handy to keep a couple extra blade bolts also. My weekend was almost over last year when my buddy walk back and said dude the bolt just went down the hall on your hand auger! :-( we jerry-rigged it with some wire and finish out the day but moving forward a little bit of medium hold Loctite will be on every bolt in the future and I will always have a little wrench in my kit to check them after filling holes
