I have one of these and love it to bits. It is a great gun once you have fixed a couple of issues, one being to put a couple of shims on the hop wheel to tighten it up, and the other being to sort out the bad trigger bar/microswitch interface.
The gun does split without having to rock the nozzle into the notch in the hop unit; it just pulls forward if you know how to dismantle it properly.
Accessing the QC spring guide is also straightforward once you know what you are doing.
Oh, and my hop unit is very secure.
The odd bit behind the trigger is NOT something Ares have added; it is the trigger spring on a real one. I had a real one far too many years ago

I’m sure they only put a high price tag on this as no one else currently makes this replica, it makes no sense as they cannot even use the excuse that they have to pay heavy licensing fees!

I think I'll wait for the never ever happening GBB SLR...

But what do you _really_ think about it? Don't hold back now.

Bloody hell that proper did a number on you didn't it? I do want to thank you though as when you pointed out the movement in the actual hop unit itself I checked my FN PARA carbine by king arms and sure enough a bit of movement I put some Velcro strip down just one side and sorted the inconsistency of the shots being fired.
    So nice one👍

I don't know how you feel about the LCT G3, but assuming that's OK, it must be possible to make an L1A1 that isn't straight from Satans bottom?

The LCT G3 is no where near as bad as the L1A1. The LC3 has internals comparable to CYMA, which admittedly is not that bad. You are really paying for the external quality with LCT.

Two good things happened this morning, one, we won at Rugby , and second I saw this video, entertaining, but he speaks the truth about this model of rifle. Now, a happy new subscriber to the channel.

I’m glad I refunded mine when it broke twice and got a G&G fnc instead :)

The G&G FNC is meh also, nowhere near as bad as the L1A1 but still meh. All of the pre 2016 G&G Guns are dogshit, but the FNC is too pretty to pass up.

Beanie I’ve gotta disagree there the internal on the G&G toptechs have always been pretty good, it has a ball bearing spring guide, better trigger contacts, excellent shim job, steel cylinder and bearings that haven’t committed seppuku after 100,000 rounds, though the combat machines have awful shimming that makes them sound like they are dying and slowly grinds away the gears the top techs are pretty good whenever they are made but I only have a sample size of 1 so I may have got lucky

Dam Luke that more F’s then I have heard you say in person dude 😂😂😂😂, its shocking tho that an A/S company has done that with a gun on their line, if that was a real gun I would have bought it would go straight back to the shoo and ask for my money back.

From watching this so far, you dont need to bend the nozzle or hop to split it, it should pull straight back, they should have a trigger spring in as standard, I'm guessing your still referencing off the one that had someone shit all over it, and as far as buckings go, who doesn't change it almost immediately?, I agree the trigger assy is a ball ache, the take down is 8 screws and a pin, that's not a lot, that switch assy will last longer than the 4 screws holding the grip in place which is the biggest weakness, most of the issues you have described regarding hop and compression are solved with work that anyone wanting a dmr will do anyway ... now maybe I've rose tinted glasses but after over a decade of using one with nothing but a spring, bucking and motor change after 5 years rifle was still lasers out to 80m ....

It's not been out for a decade bud & the gearbox & trigger are 100% manufactured that way so I think your facts have got confused somewhere, the lower needs rocking down which lifts the nozzle.
You have a different brand or older version.

Other disassembly videos show the same things.

@@lukedobson8103 you are kind of correct, I have the star version , which later on became ares, (well the ar bit of it is anyway) but they are in fact identical except the new ones are 15mm shorter , excluding that they are entirely the same
