    Welcome to BG been here part time now full time 18 years, great place to live and explore, your little guy is a good age to move, he will be speaking Bulgarian in a year or two. A lot of people including me have gone for either a Subaru outback or Audi Quattro, Ive had both and are both superb in the snow but I think the Subaru edges the offroad.

    Congrats on finding your purchase of wood burner. My suggestions as an ex- fireplace installer, about the actual heating performance - the flu often heats more than the stove. So try to position the stove as low as and as central as possible. This means taking the stove out from the fireplace and using a flu kit. Also 6" flu will heat much more than 4" flu and I found that ceiling fans that can run on reverse can push the warm air down from the ceiling.
    Best of luck.
    Bri

    • @OffGridWithTheUdens
      @OffGridWithTheUdens  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Bri yes we noticed a lot of heat coming from the flue hence we put that radiator pipe in. This install is purely to dry out and keep the damp at bay in our concrete summer kitchen. We won't be living in here just storing materials like cement etc thanks for your comment. 😁👍

    I don't know what happened the last time I tried to post a comment. Anyway, another great video. You should also invest in some external insulation for your property. It makes a big difference and in the long run it will save you money. At most DIY places in Bulgaria you can buy the big blocks of what looks like grey polystyrene. Stick them onto the outside of the house and then cover them with a mesh. Then put coloured plaster over the mesh, so that you will not have to bother repainting the house! That is what we did with our house in Kalotina and it made a nig difference. Cool in the summer and MUCH warmer in the winter. As for firewood, I would try your kermit. This is the local mayor and he does not have a girlfriend called Miss Piggy. If you buy firewood from your municipality, it is usually a lot cheaper.

    • @OffGridWithTheUdens
      @OffGridWithTheUdens  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Simon, thank you very much. Yes this is definitely something we are looking into however we love the look of the old stone buildings so we might go for internal insulation and loose a bit of floor space. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Cheers.
