Patrick Teahan said that one result of a traumatic childhood is this idea of “rushing nowhere,” which also hit me hard. It is so hard to be still, but important. I really appreciate the vulnerability that Jessica shows in this interview. She’s so… dare I say… HoNeSt?! ;) and it’s truly remarkable. She also sounds like a phenomenal, thoughtful mom.

one of the best conversations as a viewer I have taken part in, listening to two of my favourite celebrities in the world, there are not many people who can make you feel inspired and hopeful in the world, especially in these times where so much hate and corruption but listening to them talk about the struggles being in the stillness tells me were more alike than different as I thought I was alone with the struggles lol yet stars in their own right still face the problems we mere mortals have to deal with, it was hard to hear the struggles Jesicca had to deal with her story tells us all never give up when you have something good to give to the world
"you put earrings on your doll" is such a mind bender for me. I thought of my cars and motorcycles as "my toys" but in the context of adulthood. I am still, just acting like a kid at 69! I never lost the mindset. Explains alot...

Also first acknowledging the irrational parts of it, as in (for instance) deep down I'm not actually afraid that if I do something awkward everyone will take offence or make fun of me (which is already bad and probably won't happen), what I'm really afraid of is everyone will hate me for it, I'll get cast out of society and starve to death :-D So step one: acknowledge the extreme scenario in your subconscious (usually death), step two: logic yourself out of it by going through the worst things that can actually happen (usually not death).

We are the children of the oppressed in its many variations, and we have an understanding of their struggles so don't want to waste our opportunity to do better for others. I appreciate you both for sharing in this conversation, and hope that you both realise that while you do need to be present in the silence and space, please don't feel guilty for continuing to do great work in honor of your ancestors, grand children and great grandchildren too.

I love these conversations. They feel very level setting (?), grounding. Though, my one note for this conversation, when Alba talks about struggling to convince men, is that its generally hard for ANYONE to convince others to buy into their novel idea. Regardless of preconceived notions, people will latch on to any reason for their personal security. While it was frustrating for women to deal with sexism in life, there are instances that some experiences are just universal.
