    those later images of the buildings by the seaside, man, 3200, the great light and the red filter - that is a killer combo, plus obviously great compositions. Fantastic work. Thank you.

    Grain the size of a golf ball, but still beautiful nonetheless. The surreal tonality of the Delta 3200 makes all the difference. Amazing images.

    Hi Tom, loved the images, especially the late afternoon ones with the grasses, but they were all beautifully atmospheric. I really enjoy your style of video and your enthusiasm. Thanks very much I believe it’s true speed is 1000 iso I shoot it a lot at 1600 and develop at 3200 which works really well. It’s great at box speed too. It’s such a versatile film I would experiment and see what you like best. I have also had great results when shooting at 1600 and developing at 1600. All the best Tom.

    Hi Tom, i bought two rolls of Delta 3200 yesterday and now I’m watching sample photos and thinking through how I will use them. I have seen some sample photos of the same subject shot at different iso and my conclusion is that iso 1600 is the normal look for this film. The photos in this video are dark and dramatic and very nice so I assume that you calculated the exposure from the box speed. I think this setting will be appropriate for night photos which I am planning to make.

    • @tomwhelan
      @tomwhelan  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Helgi that’s a great choice, I love Delta 3200 it’s such a versatile film. I have had great success shooting it from 1000 to 3200 and developing at box speed. I do always add a little bit extra development time as I find the negatives can be a little flat at recommended times. Have fun I look forward to the results.

    • @nickwinn7812
      @nickwinn7812 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok, by now you've shot your images and either they worked for you or not This film is spot on and will give stunning results at the rated ISO. No information was gvien in this video about how the film exposed or developed. Look at the Ilford data sheets to get definitive answers rathewr than yuotubers who give
      no useful information

    Hi Tom. Great video again on the Cornish Coast with your film camera.
    With Delta 3200, do you rate it at 3200, or 1600 and develop it at normal 3200? A lot of people say shoot it at 1000 or 1600 but develop it normally.
    Graham.

    • @tomwhelan
      @tomwhelan  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Graham thank you for the comments.I shot it at box speed this time but I do regularly shoot at 1600 and get fantastic results, it’s a very versatile film great for experimenting with. Thanks again Tom.

    • @tomwhelan
      @tomwhelan  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Graham you definitely can shoot it at 1600 and develop at 3200 I’ve done this and got excellent results. I’ve heard it’s true speed is 1000 iso which could be true.

    Thank you Tom for another great video and wonderful photos ... apologies if you've previously said, do you scan your negatives at all and by what method
    I'm only using 35mm Ilford XP2 Super and having the films developed only so experimenting with the scanning side.... keep up the great work and look forward to your next outing 👍

    • @tomwhelan
      @tomwhelan  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks very much Lee I currently scan my negatives on an Epsom Flatbed scanner which is good enough for web and printing up to about A3 from a 6x7 negative. If I want to go bigger I get them drum scanned at a pro lab and can then print very large. Thanks again Tom.

    Great images, love that grain.. Incidentally some of my self-dev 400 b&w photos came out with a similar amount of grain due to the development process. I am not familiar with the Mamiya.. did you set the ISO in camera or does it not have a light meter?

    • @tomwhelan
      @tomwhelan  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi thanks very much if I use the chimney that has a light meter in it, otherwise I would use a spot meter. I find some 400 speed films can get very grainy sometimes particularly if using Rodinal which is my go to developer. Many thanks Tom.

    May I ask why you went with Delta 3200? I love the grain and adore the compositions- just seems a little overkill on the iso? More an observation and question - absolutely not a criticism. I've thought about using delta 3200 too, I love that grain.
