people who drink ayuhuasca and take mushrooms for spiritual practices generally aren't abusers of alcohol and don't eat garbage in the way that most western people do. This is probably why she is still youthful as opposed to looking like an old shoe, which is what happens after half a lifetime of drinking of wine on the couch and ordering in pizza.
I think is because the ayahuasca works with the pineal gland, the pineal gland is responsable for regulate our mood and our aging processes. It also works with ours chakras and the kundalini energy whitch make us more vital.

I felt no euphoria climbing a small mountain on that peninsula north of Reykjavik, but unending drive, determination and a lack of fear. Then they started to wear off at the summit as I looked down...

Yeah that's right, it's called 4 hydroxy DMT. It doesn't get destroyed by the digestive system. I guess the Psilocyban experience is different to pure DMT because there's a synergy with all the shrooms components.

How is Ayahuasca masochistic? I think most people take it because they don't want their pain, not because they want it to fuck them and make them get off on their pain. That part I completely disagree with. I find it to be quite presumptuous actually. Just because she may not have had certain types of trauma before her experiences, doesn't mean others haven't. I find that actually to be quite close-minded of her.

She stated the masochistic aspect was the vomiting induced by it. She also said that she doesn't view it this way entirely as the purgative (vomit/puke) aspect could be psychologically helpful with letting go of negative history for some people. inducing vomiting in one's self is, arguably, masochistic when looked at alone. I have not tried DMT so I cannot say if the purgative effects are positive or not for myself. In my experience, the intense nausea I have experienced on mushrooms really detracted from the overall experience. It feels punishing to me. I don't hear this from others though. Perhaps it is due to my own life experiences or my personal body chemistry.
