Every single South African rugby player will be one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. There is a quiet humility about us. We are tough. Built much the same as most other rugby players, yet built a little different. In much the same way you can call a Lambo and a Mercedes cars, but one is just that little more special. While most of those RSA rugby players are either gentle giants, or gentle pocket rockets (Arendse and Kolby), for 80 minutes each game they are not your friends. They will drink a beer with you after the game, but during the game your back have a target on it, and your face is the bullseye. They are warriors. The numbers on the jerseys denotes a position. Not a person as in American Football. #1 to #3 is the front row. Two Props and a Hooker in the middle. #4 and #5 is the two Lock (normally the tallest players on the team). #6 to #8 is the Loose forwards, two Flankers and an 8thman. #9 is the Scrumhalf (usually the smallest guy on the team). #10 is the Flyhalf (similar to the Quarterback in American Football) . #12 and #13 are the Centers. #11 and #14 are the Wings (closest analogy to American Football is Running Back). #15 is the Fullback. South Africa has two brilliant young Wingers, Cheslin Kolbe and Kurt-lee Ambrose. They both play at 14! Depending on how the rest of the team is set up. It is easy to confuse them, because they both play in a scrumcap, and have similar statures. It is hard to describe the size of these guys. For Example, Eben Etsebeth (#4 Lock) is 6ft 8 1/2 inches. He weighs 262 lb. And he is not even the biggest of the locks! There is a story, that they had to make special dumbells for him (165 lb). So he could work out with the team.
I don’t think there’s any team in the history of team sport that can capitalise on mistakes and absolute chaos like the Springboks. You fail to catch a ball they score for that, You miss a tackle they score, they don’t protect the ball after a tackle they score, they toss it in the air they score, a big opponent guarding a small player they score, a small opponent guarding a big player they score, you botch a line out near your try line they score, give em a penalty and they’ll win the game, get a yellow card, you’re as good as finished🤷🏿♂️..almost any mistake you make they make you pay. It’s like the springbok game plan is to fuck around and find out.😂
ABS of early and mid 2010s played like that. If they were in your 22, they would score. They always capitalized off mistakes and forced them too. Glad our Boks are doing that now.

The employee just put the pot down and tackled him in the middle of the restaurant. When I returned from my walk, there were 3 policecars and 2 ambulances.
rugby in south africa's big growth came in the POW camps in the south africa (boer) war at the beginning of the 20th century, where it was played extensively by the prisoners (who learnt from those who knew how to play). all the anger, frustration and hatred for the british got baked into the style that we play. there is no other team in the world as physical. if you can't go forward with the ball in a tackle, you won't be selected for teams, from school level all the way to the top level. if you get tackled backwards with the ball you won't be selected. if you can't tackle the biggest baddest hugest guys out there (no matter how small you may be) in a way that they go backwards and hurt afterwards, you won't be selected. if some guy with the ball can run through you, you won't be selected. no matter how brilliant your other skills are. the tiny guys on our teams (think 5' 9", 175lb) needs to be able to tackle 6' 8" gients wheighing 280lb or even more). or they won't be selected. and they can make those tackles. because they're springboks. we want to play clean, but we want you to know that you played against us. you need to feel it. during the match, after the match, and for the week after the match. unwavering (clean) brutality drives our rugby. contrary to popular belief, springbok players get very few yellow or red cards. clean. but brutal. teams just can't withstand the neverending onslaught of physicality and eventually start cracking as the game wears on. the bench is usually packed with even more huge guys, often the "1st choice" (although squad depth is insane and "1st choice" vs "2nd choice" is usually a meaningless notion) strongest players, who come on with 30 minutes (out of 80) to go, to further physically dominate. the smaller, nimbler backline players are expected to be able to cover several positions to cover the risk of injury to one of them, because we don't cater to subbing them so maybe 1 or 2 out of the 8 on the bench will be a back. most teams play 3 backs on the bench. [an aside: rugby is about endurance fitness. american football is built around a very stop/start game that requires insane bursts of energy. in rugby, you're expected to perform at peak with very few breaks in play, potentially for a full 80 minutes of playtime. there is no swapping out of offensive and defensive units. there are 8 players on the bench who cover injury and can also be subbed on at any time (the subbed player cannot return to the field).] there is only one other team that can maybe be considered as feared as the springboks: the all blacks from new zealand. but for other reasons (their attacking, running style is breathtaking). perhaps "respected" would be a better word than fear. maybe somewhere inbetween. the all blacks have the greatest record in pretty much all of sport (and not just rugby) with a 77% winrate over 120 years (489 from 637 matches), with the springboks second at 63% over 130 years (340 from 540). but any team the world over would rather face the all blacks than the springboks. between the two teams, they have won 7 out of the 10 world cups (with south africa having missed the first two due to apartheid sanctions). thank you for reading my essay ;)

I think the Irish are truly mad about their RWC exit and it shows in how they're tackling the 2024 Six Nations. THey've basically won it - having beaten France already and I don't think any of the other teams can pull off a shocker by winning all their next games.
@@kevinrtresTrue enough tjom England's rush defence ain't working at the moment and Scotland dont have the depth to beat the Irish but there is a different game plan the Frenchmen can go to which won them 2 Euro cups beating an attacking Leinster but they dont adapt, they prefer their strategy to attack without their 2 greatest players ntamack and dupont. Well they won junior world cup and have a lot of depth just need a coach that can improvise.

AFRIKAANS is just one of the 11 official languages in South Africa's. The first time South Africa won we hosted the Rugby World Cup and where complete underdogs aspesially against the All Blacks(New Zeeland). The Rugby World Cup is held every 4 years. Hi there, just wanna say luv Ur Reactions U2 such a cute couple + amazing Reactors keep-up the Great-work!!!! Springboks are from South Africa like Nasty C & Tyla seemingly our Greatest Exports, LoL!!!! 🤣🤣
The Springboks are not a spiteful team trying to hurt others. They simply know which teams they can intimidate into submission and which teams they have to out-think. Some games they will penalty kick their way into victory and others they will physically crush their opponents - all depending on the opponent team.
It's the greatest game ever, and fun to play, but yes, you can pick up a few nasty injuries along the way. South Africans play it bare feet from about 6 years old.
The springboks are the South African national team, they are also the current world champions winning it back to back. They are ranked no1 in the world with New Zealand at no2 followed by Ireland and France respectively.
@@John-mi2rt It's sad to see how some people are fixated on the Springboks' defeat against Ireland. The Boks did not lose because Ireland was superior in that match. They lost because they failed in goal-kicking. They missed either 9 or 11 points in the goal-scoring. Had the kicking been accurate, Ireland would not have won the match. This is quite similar to what happened in the final match, where NZ's flyhalf missed two goals. They say they were robbed but they stood a chance of winning the W.C had they scored those goals. At least the Saffas are taking the Bok's loss to Ireland gracefully because they know what went wrong. To prove how important goal kicking is, the Boks won 3 of the 4 W.Cs without tries. Pollard's 100% goal-scoring record brought the cup back.

If you want to learn more about rugby the best channel I've seen on here is Couch Rugby, explains everything brilliantly from basics to different facets of the game to the different positions he really does a good job of mixing a basic understanding with the complexities of rugby!
It matters....it matters a great deal...it isn't a game...it's our claim to nationhood...even at school, its like being on the battlefield....proud of being World Champions 🇿🇦 🏆🏆🏆🏆🥇🏉
"The Springboks Are Like A Guy Who Can Rip A Tree Off Its Roots And Bash You To Death With It"
the bird is a paid actor lol
The guy that jumped and stole the ball to go score. That was his debut at 19 years old and first try for the boks. That's why everyone embraced him after
0:03 very good impression of a hippo
You keep mentioning about the no padding thing, as we are used to, so imagine how shocked we were to see your American football with nothing BUT padding! Jeepers
Proudly ,S.A.we the champions Go Bokke Go🏀🔥🙌🙌🇿🇦🇿🇦
The SPRINGBOKS, is an AFRIKAANS word that literally means "JUMPing BUCK". SPRINGBOKS is our national buck that are found here. I see most Americans have trouble pronoucing SPRINGBOKS. AFRIKAANS is just one of the 11 official languages in South Africa's. The first time South Africa won we hosted the Rugby World Cup and where complete underdogs aspesially against the All Blacks(New Zeeland). The Rugby World Cup is held every 4 years. We won in 1995, 2007, 2019 abd currant champions 2023. So proud to be South African🇿🇦
Yebo yes. GO BOKKEEEEE🎉🎉🎉. SO PROUD TO BE SOUTH AFRICAN
Proudly South African ❤🇿🇦
the number 14 is cheslin kolbe and fun fact his cousin is wayde van niekerk the olympic record holder for the 400m sprint
Oh we are here to win as well, record world champions and current world champions baby!
They are one of the three the most feared they are a top team current world champions. They tend to do well at world cups. All of the top four beat each other in the world Cup Ireland beat south africa. New zealand beat Ireland. France beat new zealand. South Africa beat france and then new zealand in the final. The top four is really competitive at the moment.
Lol I know the ABs are one of the 3.... Whos the other?
@@rarotime5555historically probably Australia currently probably Ireland

Have you noticed how they look like Springboks (the animal on their jersey) when they dive to score the goal?
We are in it to win it. The difference is while we are doing it, we are going to know who we are.
❤❤ south Africa 🌍 will always be my land hometown
For us Rugby is not a game its a pasion

Hulle Weet Nie wat ons weet nie

btw the number 14 shirt is assigned to the position not the player, so when you say its 14 again, that is actually a different player
Rugby in our blood even our dogs have rugby jerseys we are the champions
Her face lol😂 at this point
Springboks play to hurt and win 🔥🇿🇦.
They are currently the raining defending world champions back to back champions and 4 time world cup winners
It's the greatest game ever, and fun to play, but yes, you can pick up a few nasty injuries along the way. South Africans play it bare feet from about 6 years old.
This is the reason why SA has some of the most dangerous mercenaries in the 🌎
Quick flex but both Eben Etzibeth and Marvin orie went to my high school when they were younger(The Tygerberg Tiere are proud of you 2❤🐯)
We are not 4x Rugby World Champions for nothing
We're built different. Go bokke
we're in it to hurt you _ lady got it spot on
Best sport in the world
1:8 No, the bokke do not hurt or bully other teams. They just don't allow other teams to force them to play their game. The bokke play their own game.
The springboks are the South African national team, they are also the current world champions winning it back to back. They are ranked no1 in the world with New Zealand at no2 followed by Ireland and France respectively.
The team that South Africa can't beat Ireland are ranked no 2
@@John-mi2rt Ireland has been giving us problems for a long time now
@@John-mi2rt It's sad to see how some people are fixated on the Springboks' defeat against Ireland.

That's why we are back to back world champs 😅😂
Proudly🇿🇦
1:04 u r talking about New Zealand in the 1990s to 2005. I know the boks won the 1995 world cup
The springboks of the 90s was the most dangerous team in rugby,
@@Chinekewhowwww They were crazy but nah early 2000s team was not the best but up there
Y'all better recognize,South Africa is the best and it was proven,Bokke for life!!!❤
The things that make the Springboks great:
Best defense in the world
Best scrum in the world
Best coach in the world
Tug of war apparently the name for scrumming
This is rugby. We tackle. It's not about being nice, it's about winning for your country. We don't take a knee, we play to win. I did not see one penalty play in that clip.
