The new studio album Blackfield V was written and recorded over a period of 18 months in both Israel and England and contains 13 linked songs that form a flowing 45 minute ocean themed song cycle. With the duo expertly handling vocals, guitars, and keyboards, they brought in Tomer Z from the Blackfield band on drums, Eran Mitelman on keys, and string arrangements were performed by the London Session Orchestra. Blackfield V is a powerful journey through catchy melodies, lush arrangements, and stunning production, with legendary producer / engineer Alan Parsons working on three of the album’s key tracks.
The pair makes for a formidable musical force; Geffen has worked with legendary producers Tony Visconti and Trevor Horn, has played live with U2 and Placebo, and is currently a judge on the Israeli TV show The Voice. Wilson, after a long tenure as the leader of the hugely influential band Porcupine Tree, has since embarked on a highly successful solo career, achieving 3 UK top 40 albums (the most recent also making the top 3 in Germany, and The Netherlands), and 4 Grammy nominations.

I'm 33, have no wife or child responsibility, still climbing my mountain and it's not too late for me.... I still get choked up listening to this song. That's the power of Steven Wilson's music. It provokes emotions I didn't know I had.
I am 57 and I just met my soulmate last year. I am happy as hell, but we both wish we had met 30 years ago. To be honest, and I have told her this, I was not ready for her 30 years ago. Nothing to do with her, it was ALL about me back then. Not so much anymore. I finally grew up.

Sitting at work, listening to this song for the first time...Wrong place to do that. Tears running down my face. Only music has the ability to make me cry. And pretty much only the very best music. Wilson has the ability to do that to me and then the next song cheers me up and gets me rocking. ONLY Wilson has that ability to do that to me anymore.

Maybe I'm thinking about it too deeply... He makes 48 seem over the hill, that the mountain is now out of reach. When I was a young man, I thought a 50 year old was ancient. Now that I'm here I find it is not the winding down of life but the challenge of increasing the climb is even more rewarding. Most lyrics I let flow over and through me to try and get the artist's perspective of what he wants to share. This started out great but to me, ended in whining. Steven, Aviv, I'd love to hear from you!

A beautiful melody. Everyone has a mountain. Some can look upon it, and be content. Some must climb it, then look down. Almost everything is subjective.
"12 Things I Forgot" seems to be an upbeat, pop rendition/reimagining of this song on Wilson's new album in 2020.

I dont identify much with most of blackfields lyrics as much as PT but the instrument execution is so deliciously beautiful like honey for the ears. Of course behind all of it we find his majesty SW not to take credit of Geffen and band but SW is a rare specimen who is alive in a time where most of human kind is enveloped in mainstream and only a few have the honor of appretiating him. Im convinced heaven must sound like something SW would create

They say that the deeper your roots go the higher you can reach. It's been a long transformation but I'm getting there after years of sorrow. I wish I could share this music with more people but I always wonder if it would freak them out lol. I'm thinkin of starting an Instagram page some day that just has this music with video clips and images to kind of convey how I feel about these masterpieces. I don't know why he doesn't perform any songs from No-Man or Blackfield (or any other his other projects), they're all something released under his own name. Would give those projects a bit more exposure as well for the non-die hards.
