    Excellent point about it paying for itself after two tire rotations. This video sold it for me. I don't work on cars every day so I just wanted to buy one to make life easier working on the bike or truck a few times every other month. Thank you for the video.

    I bought this new just last week and before I even plugged it in, I took it apart and put silicone grease on the plastic ring and plastic fan on the rear of the tool housing.
    This prevents one of the common problems I read about when reviewing this tool, and that is that there is enough FRICTION between the ring and the fan that the two can become fused together causing the fan not to work.
    It was a simple fix and only required a 4mm hex wrench, a phillips screwdriver, and a flat bladed screwdriver, and some silicone grease. That is it.
    Simple to do, but disassembly of the tool is required, but there is a great TH-cam video that explains the process.
    And just so you know, when I took mine apart, there was NOT ONE BIT OF GREASE between the fan and plastic ring!

      @@sirlosealot8629, no other problems to report.
      The grease helps a LOT!
      I am surprised that Porter Cable does not do this at the time of build considering the "fan issue" seems common.
      At first I was thinking that dirt collecting on the fan and grease would be an issue, but I would rather that than the fan becoming fused.

    I'm just as close to an extension cord as I am to my air compressor, and I would use this tool so infrequently that a battery model would come with some drawbacks, so I purchased this corded model off Amazon for about $79, and the reviews I have seen have been very positive. Nice review!

    Electric impacts are FAR from "new school". With that said, for someone who doesn't have a compressor with the capacity to run a pneumatic impact, they're a life saver! At my shop, I can run any air tool that I need, however, I often help friends at their homes, and, most of them don't have air available. I've had my PCE211 for about a year now, and, absolutely LOVE it! A friend of mine found that a national chain auto parts store (the name starts with A and ends with dvance) has them on sale for $80 this month. Sure, you can order them online for that price any time, but, if you happen to get a bad one, you have to go through the whole online return process. I've never gotten anything bad from P-C, but, there's always a chance. Even at their regular price of $100, try to find another one, corded or cordless, with the power and quality of this one.

    Thank you for your review. It’s nice to see how it works and you testing it out. I live near a construction site and I get flat tires at least once a month, and the mechanics tighten them so much that I can’t get the bolts off even if I stood on my pipe for torque. It’s crazy.. I had to tow my cars 3 times because I can’t get the nuts off my tires >:( but hopefully this will save me money and time with tow trucks. Thanks again

    This is good, but the new Bauer Corded Extreme Impact Wrench has more power, and is about the same price. On my new channel I test the Bauer on a Honda axle nut that's been on the car 13 years.

    • @MikeBrown-ii3pt
      @MikeBrown-ii3pt 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Switz Don't get me wrong, I like a lot of Harbor Freight stuff. The problem I have is that the closest store is 30 miles away. The Bauer is $110 with a 90 day warranty, unless you buy an extended (I always do with H F power tools), while the P C is $80 with a 3 year warranty. I realize that you can take a broken tool to a Harbor Freight store and they'll hand you a new one, while the P C has to be sent in. Luckily, I've never had to use the warranty of any power tool that I've purchased, no matter what brand. Most of my smaller power tools are P C, but, my big ones (air compressors, metal band saw, drill presses, bench grinders etc.) are all from Harbor Freight.

  • @juansolo1617
    @juansolo1617 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you've already got a 20 gallon compressor get a second one or an extra tank or two. They're cheap enough. That's if you like air tools a LOT. You don't need to dump on a commercial shop compressor. Daisy chain the cheaper ones. I have a problem where my neighbors call the police on me constantly for noise complaints when using air impacts, die grinders, air hammers, etc. I need a good electric impact. Found out that Bauer Electric Impact from Harbor Freight is 99 USD and advertises over 1000 ft lbs of torque. Based on what I've seen I can assume that's an honest torque reading for that driver.

    • @dq7143
      @dq7143 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      HF website read on the Bauer tool is 300 ft. lbs. maximum torque. What's confusing is when it also reads 1050 ft. lbs. "breakaway torque".

    've never owned an impact wrench but I find I need one now. This may be a stupid question, but how do you control the amount of torque you apply to, say, a lug nut with one of these? My biggest complaint about my favorite tire store is that they apply so much torque to my lug nots that I cannot get them off without a breaker bar.This is obviously a REAL problem when I'm on the road and have to put on the spare tire.

    • @PrairieDad
      @PrairieDad  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Some impacts let you control torque with a dial, but this one just has the trigger. You can control the torque by how long you hold down the trigger, to a degree. I let the impact run at full power to break bolts loose and remove them, but I barely use the trigger to tighten lugnuts before using a 4-way or other big wrench to tighten them by hand.
      You can theoretically control the torque from an impact with torque sticks (www.floorjackshop.com/torque-sticks-what-are-they-and-do-i-need-one/). We used them at my dad's shop for a while, but found them to be untrustworthy and went back to checking all torque by hand again.

  • @XChaoticComposerX

    you dont need a huge air compressor. you already have your bostitch 6gal. you just need to add one more "small" oil-lube air compressor. connect them in tandem via two lead-in hoses and a tee. will end up with ~3.7 CFM x 2 = 7.4CFM@90psi!!! you just need to make sure you have a 12 gauge short extension cord and run them from different 15A outlets.
    i would recommand campbell hausfeld DC040000 (~$120). if you want to use spray gun, i would recommand senco pc1131 (~$200) for continuous duty...
    they are small portable. and you dont need to re-wire your house...

      @MikeBrown-ii3pt 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's rated at 750 ft. lbs. breaking torque. Spray the fastener with Blaster or Liquid Wrench and let it work. Then, hit it with the impact. I've used mine on many ugly fasteners. If this impact can't do the job, you'll need air tools and heat.

    • @juansolo1617
      @juansolo1617 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Get a socket that's made for axle nuts... greater mass, more torque applied to the fastener. The impact is only half of the equation.

      It looked like those lugs were already loose to me too. On the other hand, I've had this impact for over a year and absolutely love it! I live in Northwest Ohio and deal with rusted/frozen fasteners in my little shop all the time. After years of using air tools, this impact is my first choice now. If it won't break a fastener loose, heat and air are pretty much required. I'm not afraid to use air and heat, it's just SO much easier to plug this guy in and let him have a crack at it first. In my area, lots of penetrating oil (NOT WD-40!) is s.o.p. before even trying, no matter what tool you're using lol!
