I hope you are offering to teach your boys (and your daughter when she is old enough) these great skills that ya'll possess. Welding, wood working, metal working, cooking, construction, animal husbandry, etc. Your children will be MILES AHEAD of their peers with these skills in their "tool box." You're probably already doing this anyway but I just want to encourage you to train them all with your wonderful knowledge and experience. 🙂

I think during Spring, Summer and Fall if they follow the cows on day 3 that optimizes the emergence of the maggots from the flies laying eggs in the manure. The maggots provide the chickens pure protein, which they figure out real quickly, and obviously they keep the fly population down/in check so they aren't bothering the hell out of the livestock (and people).

    • @dianelively8582

I really like watching your video. You might think my ideas are good for you. Last time I thought it might be best to attach the mineral box to the milking station instead of it being separate. 2. Do you just want the chickens to disperse the cows' poop? Because if you wait another two days they will be able to eat the larvae of the flies and thus get extra protein and this will also lower the amount of flies in the area. I hope I was able to help with something to improve life. Thank you, with great love.

Organic cold processed coconut oil is a product useful for removing grease and oil type stains. Good as a deoderant too, because though it's an oil, it washes out easily when used by itself. Great to use on fungi, molds, mildew, bacteria, viruses, and anything in between. It reminds me of organic based whole raw honey, in that it has so many uses. Once witnessed a veterinarian use it on the wound of a baby seal where dead tissue had to be cut off his little flipper. The doc slipped his hand in a large jar of the stuff, and slathered it on the raw wound right before applying bandaging. Amazing substances!

If all of your hens are over a year old, they will slow down this time of year. If you have pullets coming to maturity in the fall, they will lay all winter. I always try to have a couple of pullets on hand to I have enough eggs for my family during the winter.

I live in Minnesota and when my birds slowed on laying I added a higher protein feather fixer feed. I also let them free feed. I made a 5 gallon water proof, scratch proof feeder with a bucket and 3 pvc elbows. My birds do have a LED light in the coop which probably helps. Also TSC will match competitor pricing on things. As long as the store it is matching isn't hours away. Doesn't have to be the exact brand cause they even do it with store brands. So for instance I have a store called fleet farm. If their store brand feed is on sale for a 50lb bag TSC will match their 50 lb feed store brand. Good for future use.

My dad and stepdad fought fiercely in that war, and I have respect for all those who did it, but we were left with both good and bad.... the onslaught of chemicals and the scientific laboratory doing things "better." 1st, I think you should have just bought the wheels from tractor supply. The cost of gas and your time probably was more expensive than just buying Tractor supply's wheels. 2nd, if you want a longer laying season out of your hens you could use a full spectrum light on a timer. That will extend their daylight hours and they will continue to lay.

To get the grease out of clothing, dampen the spots, squirt a bit of Dawn dish soap into it (small amount) and work it in to the spot then launder the clothing as usual. It works like a charm. Doesn't matter whether it's grease from metal, salad dressing, or oil paint. I had an apron that I used when I did oil paintings and when I had an art show, I wanted it to be cleaned up a bit (I was painting during the show). I scraped off what I could of the dried paint, did the Dawn soap trick on it and believe it or not, it came out looking brand new.

Boy sure looks like your son would like to help, he is hanging out in the background for almost the whole video. Such a nice kid & the perfect age to learn some of your skills, especially because he is so interested in everything you do!

Here is a yummy recipe for salmon. It's more of a sauce to go with it...
    1/2 sour cream, 1/2 mayo
    lemon juice to taste
    dill to taste
    horseradish to taste.
Hard to give measurements because I just wing it depending on how much salmon I have. Of course, (in my personal opinion) as with anything with dill and lemon juice, if you can make this concoction up ahead of time, it is always better that way, but it's yummy regardless.
    I hope you enjoy!

Have you thought about using Wheelchair wheels? You can somerimes find them at thrift stores and junkyards. I was thinking about using them on a Chickshaw. Maybe not great, bur they are made to hold a lot of wieght at a consistant anount of time. they are thin so may not be good for really muddy areas. just a thought.

Unless you use old electric wheelchair wheels. A whole lot of wheelchairs get scrapped when no longer needed. I get used ones and don’t have to deal with a Medicare runaround. It’s much cheaper for everyone,(USA) and I don’t have to go have a doctor sign off that I need one. Duh, I’ve been stuck in a wheelchair for 13 YEARS, still working, still driving.

If you add a light in their coop , the chickens will lay eggs in the fall & winter months..

up here in Northern Ireland my younger hens (after they moult) will lay all winter. not all of them...but i usually get a couple eggs a day. you need to fire (or BBQ) your slackers!! lol... nice job on the ram pen...wish we could get 16foot cattle panels here. i can get 8 foot, but i wanted to make a movable hoop house like Bobblehead and a few others that have chickens but im not sure i can get a nice coop with an 8 foot one.

It makes my heart SO happy to see another video so close to the last one. Bacon for life is a great deal as it is SO expensive at the store right now it;s CrAzY! Maybe you can find some used but good wheels around there where you live? If you're in a pinch to get them done. God bless y'all.

Why not attach the mineral feeders to the side of the milking station as it goes where the cow goes, just a thought. Love your journey, god bless.
