Meg - I love the idea of an intern learning how you run a single-person internet business at a profit. (It encourages entrepreneurship and shows you don’t need to have a lot of money to start building your own business.) Most interns seem to work for big corporations, which is great, but it doesn’t show you the full picture. I hope that works well for everyone. 😁🥰

I believe that pigs do not have sweat glands, and the water holes help them stay cool.

Yes that is why many cultures consider pork a dirty meat. They cannot eliminate toxins through sweating. Funny huh....we have been conditioned as humans to put antipersperant deodorant on to STOP sweating. Keeps toxins in. Once you don't use deodorant, you will find your sweat does not STINK anymore. Toxins have been able to be eliminated.

I'm glad you praised the boys for their hardwork of producing great tasting chicken. And you could see that they were proud of themselves. That teaches them to have selfworth and a lot of kids these days don't have that. They will value themselves when it comes time to be a man. Thank you for being such great parents.

  •  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

Always good to give teens some ownership responsibility for livestock and gardening. It gives them a sense of contributing to the economy of the family as well as an appreciation for all the work effort that goes into producing food for the table. They stop taking that for granted and appreciate the efforts of their parents & siblings as well. This is a great way to raise good kids. 💚

I have soaked my grain for feeder hogs for years. My neighbor feeds dry grain and his pig pen is the same color as his feed. The pigs waste so much of the food turning it into a fine powder on the ground. Soaked grain. Is easier for them to pick up and eat. I really like soaking/fermenting my grain with apple cider vinegar (the real stuff) mixed with water. Takes about 3 days to get going. I start a new days worth of food every day until I have three days worth soaking. Then feed the oldest, and start a new days worth. I keep the bottom third of the bucket full to inoculate the new food. It's an on going cycle, but once it's going it's no more work that any other method. So much more bioavailability

To measure the level of water in the pigs' water barrel....float inside barrel attached to string. Attach weight on other end of string. When full, float will be up on water so weight on outside will be down. As water level drops, float inside drops pulling weight on outside up. Paint outside weight bright colour and you will see water level from far off

So a good way that I have seen 2 put a level on the barrel is a quarter inch clear rubber hose that you attach at the bottom on the outside and run it to the top so as the water goes down it shows where the level is inside like a old school water level now the only problem with that being that the pigs may take a liking to it and Chew On It or Break It so the bobber ideal might work better

Put a plastic "tank fitting" which is a hose tail with locking nuts upright into lid of tank. Use light plastic pipe that slides easily up and down inside fitting, fit a small plastic bottle or similar to bottom of pipe for float and pipe will move up and down to indicate depth of water in drum.

Congratulations on a job well done to the boys! That has to be very rewarding to take care of that many birds that will ultimately feed your family. Good on ya, guys!
It's always great to see your videos, no matter the 'topic'. You guys never cease to warm my heart and put a big, old smile on my face. Thanks for that!

Pigs don't have sweat glands from what I've been told. Maybe that's why they need water.

Hey Ben if you get a Y connection for an extra hose and float you can hook it up to refill water tank automatically...worked great on my parents farm for decades!

Pigs are actually very clean animals if they are able. A kiddy pool will make for some VERY happy pigs! And no pigs have no sweat glands and have no way to cool themselves off other than water, mud, or digging a ditch to lay in.

Soaking the feed also creates less waste. Feed can be crumbly/dusty. This way the animals can eat all of it 😉
