Wow...so much has been accomplished with your barn. Love the lights, they do give you good vision in there. Your class will be well received I'm sure. Thanks for sharing and Meg, you are really quite the cook. Maybe you could do some classes for your fans on what to do with all the pig parts. Have a Blessed day.
If you want a clean house invite people for dinner. If you want a clean barn, invite someone to give a workshop! 😂 Meg, you are on fire! You have a lot of mouths to feed well and you are rocking it! ♥️👍🙏🇺🇸🤓
I did the class with them during the Homesteaders of America conference. make sure you have your refrigeration for the carcass in line, we made it through the class but an unexpected situation occurred, which with the 2-day pause in the class for the conference, meant we had an essentially frozen carcass to try to process, doable, but more difficult.
It's so good to see you guys again!! And your helpers really kicked into high gear, especially Munchie with the rafters... or trusses... or whatever those are. Loved watching him help hold those in place. ~ I was just checking your page two days ago to see when you last posted. Can't wait to see more of Meg's cooking. Glad you're back. I hope the Hand Hewn Farm class is a raging success.
Watching you guys makes me wish my ex & I would have been more aligned and he would have valued the marriage/family enough to tuff out the hard part (I had serious accident, tree fell onto my car as I driving) and work through the rough stuff. Good Job Hollar family🥰
So good to see you all. That building went from kind of a inconvenient mess to extremely user-friendly. Great job! Meg is doing awesome things in the kitchen!
You are SOOOOOOOOOOOOO fortunate that Meg is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO supportive of everything you do!!! She is every man's dream! Always backing you up with her enthusiastic, supportive, positive comments... cheering you on... loving you... just the love in her eyes when she looks at you is amazing!!!! You are truly very, very, very fortunate to have Meg on your team. And the boys.... WOW! What a help they are... so peaceful and calm and barefoot and free to be who they are. And of course... little Lilly flower... blossoming into a beautiful little human being!
Ben, love watching your projects - is there nothing you can't do!? And I love how you stopped to help Meg when she was sorting sweet potatos 🥰 I can't wait to see Meg sharing her knowlege of cooking - she is a wizard in the kitchen!! Love you guys!!
I remember working in my parents’ barn long ago before we upgraded the lighting, and how utterly depressing it was, like working in a cave. What a huge difference it made when I finally got around to replacing all the light fixtures with new ones that actually worked! I learned that you can tolerate working in cold temps longer if you simply have ample, quality lighting, and some good music to listen to. 🤠 Good job improving that space! You’ll love working up there now, and it’ll be awesome for classes! (Cause I’m sure this is just the first of many to come) 😉🙌
I enjoy immensely watching your progress and how little by little you’re achieving your goals and just plain enjoying everyday life. I love what you two do, but what I enjoy the most is popping “helping elf’s” (your children) in every video, such fun to watch how they help… cooking, cleaning, babysitting, building, gardening, harvesting… those boy can do it all! Congratulations
That is really a SIGNIFICANT amount of improvement via HARD WORK, Ben & sons! You're all going to be thrilled every time you walk in there! Thanks for sharing your projects with us; I've enjoyed watching your plans turn into reality. And MEG....WOW! Your Lady is incredible with all the new food prep and storage projects she's been up to; I'm eager to see those videos when they are ready to be sent to us. God bless your family.
Loved seeing the boys in plaid shirts & toolbelts. You have your own work crew! It's great to see you setting them up for success in their future for independence. I can see how much fun you are having with this project. It's good you had a nice long break after the epic house build, LOL! Awesome things coming out of the kitchen, but I hope Meg gets some time out of there. The cooking plus the soaps is a lot of time in the kitchen. Won't be long before you will be planting. Look forward to your videos on the class.
Wow, you show it all. Those bugs! Anyway, I wanted to thank you for showing the sweet potatoes you had to deal with. You know, it's easy to forget that we need to be constantly monitoring food that is kept in storage. Inspiring!
Please oil Megs spinning wheel. It looks so lonely and sad. What a wonderful thing you are doing for the barn. You are extending the barns life and giving you a wonderful work/play space.
Meg, I’ve been following you guys since you were in California. I’ve really enjoyed your videos, thanks! But I wanted to let you know that your video on how to make cheese was so helpful to me. I’ve made cheese and rewatched that video many times. Thank you!
I absolutely love these clean ups and makeover. Decluttering is the best. and to give this barn more purpose. Thanks for taking us with you. And kitchen stuff is also nice. Love it.
Ben and Meg I am so glad you salvaged your barn and didn't tear it down. The old dwellings add so much character to homesteads. You are blessed. Your little girl is growing so fast. She is adorable!!!!
Well you BOTH have the tricks of the trade 👍. What a NICE spot, and with the lighting - just WOW. Huge difference. Glad you took time just for yourselves but YOU WERE MISSED - glad you’re back 😊
It is so awesomely satisfying to preserve food! We are eating out of our pantry/freezer this month to make room for a pig we are buying from a local farm. Our freezer dryer is so cool. We have freeze dried bone broth to make our own bullion without MSG or any additives. Plus all the 3 year old peaches from the freezer. Wonderful snack and better use of space!
I really enjoyed this video!!! Lots of work and a lot of great help…love how you all work together and share in all your successes and help each other when you need help! Buggie is growing like a weed and she is a beauty💜!
Y' all work so well together, love seeing the kids kickin in with dad and then everyone joining Meg in the kitchen. She can knock out some food! Fabulous Job Everyone!
Ben: *vacuums the ladybugs* Me: Noooo, your aphid control! Also, a quick and easy upgrade to plywood floors is deck paint. When my grandfather was finishing their house in the 70s, he put down plywood as giant wood tiles. Every several years, my grandmother would paint the floors a new color. In high traffic areas, you can see all the old colors as the paint wears away. Currently a sort of oatmeal gray, before that a sea green and a dark maroon. Next summer I'm hoping to paint again.
What a transformation! The expressions to describe it made me smile: Holy Cow, Oh Wow, and my favorite, Holy Toledo ( I haven’t heard that one in years). Can’t wait to share what comes next. And Meg, you continue to amaze. I would love to learn at your side. Happiest of New Years to you all.
OMG. If that was Meg 1st time making sausage she did AWESOME JOB! We do a summer sausage with the venison.every year! It is work. Great job on the barn lighting too. Love how everyone gets involved ❤️
What a great job you have done in the shed. Love the boys with their head lights just like dads. Megs is so inspiring with her skills in the kitchen. A couple with very limited help, you sure are getting thing’s accomplished well done. Love your videos a lot. Take care, xxx
Making homemade sausage is probably my favorite part of raising pigs. Don't fill the sausage casings quite so full. When you get the whole thing filled, pinch it at intervals with both hands, and flip the section between your hands a couple times. Are those florescent shop lights, or led? Love the lighting. Great to see you again, I've missed you.
Meg, you are knocking it out of the park right into next week! You were always cooking good food but you have uped your game to beyond Martha Stewart level and much nicer to look at too🤗😊👍That baby girl is growing so much and the boys are becoming young men before our very eyes! Looking forward to what 2022 brings!
So glad you are back, really love your videos. Love the barn. Wow. Those lights are BRIGHT. So nice to be able to work longer in the winter time. The boys are such a huge help, you raised the right. You all please take care and be safe
Sir, the amount of enthusiasm you had for the brightness of those lights was infectious! 😂🤣 Then you got the whole family involved and they we're just as excited! That was awesome and Meg was right, I think it was brighter in the barn than it was outside 🤣! Looking forward to watching the charcuterie workshop! 😊
“It really lightens up everything so we can really see how much JUNK we have in here...” Basically how I felt when we put lights in our barn last month 🤣🤣🤣
I love seeing how you interact as a couple. Each of you works hard to make the other happy and each of you celebrates and is openly grateful for what the other accomplishes. I wonder how often people complain that their spouse is lazy, but don’t realize that their own lack of appreciation is a big part of it. Why do anything but the minimum if no one cares?
Glad to see you guys back missed y'all. Don't you guys have a hillside you could dig out to make a root cellar? If you dug it out like a cave and shored it up you would have the same temperature year-round. Ben you're a smart man and Megan a smart woman. You could think it through and put you a door on it. And have your own storage cooler. Just a thought!!! Y'all take care stay safe and God bless y'all

We call them rafter ties. That's what my dad who was a carpenter and a general contractor called them, when I was growing up.
According to the carpenter's I watch on TH-cam they all call them rafter ties. Bcuz they tie the left rafter to the right rafter.

Just a heads up, those are not ladybugs but rather "Asian Lady Beetles". They are highly invasive, and they bite (not like a bee sting but still).
That was my thought when I saw how clustered they were. They'll do that in a house if they can get inside during the fall/winter.
They are slightly toxic, shouldn;t handle with out gloves or immediatley washing.
The lights are fantastic..... Great work
