Great review for consumers without all the technical "nit nerds" info that I am really not interested in. I went to Best Buy and actually liked the 90L better than the 93L, go figure, The salesman said he thinks it is the anti-reflection layer on the 93L (like Samsungs) that, while it may knock down some reflection, it comes at a cost to the picture. Thanks again.
I returned a Samsung Qn90b and a Sony x95 because of the anti-reflection layer that in a bright room just becomes a streak of rainbow puke across the screen.
Funny that you mention that about the anti-reflection layer on the X93L because I read in a review that the X90J in 2021 was considered a bit better than the higher model X95J and the following year’s X90K since like the salesman said, it may sacrifice picture quality.
Dark content in a bright room is tough for any tv. There’s certain content like Ozark that I just watch at night. I follow several well known reviewers and most gave the x90l positive reviews. I have a x930e from 5-6 years ago and it’s still a great tv. What I like about Sony is their processing and great colors. I ordered one today(65”)for my living room in my primary home. I moved the x930e to a secondary location. I paid $1,073 from Abt.

The best detail picture , the best natural tone color , the best upscaling of lower quality contents . I don’t call this jack of all trades , but best of all trades . Don’t compare to Oled and say , Oled has black etc , boring statement by some reviewers sponsored by certain tv brands .

Happy New Year. Really enjoyed this unboxing. We just picked up our X90L, however, I'm not able to connect my home internet using the USB port. Can you please give me step-by-step instructions on where you go to on the TV to change from Wi-Fi to the USB? I've already disabled / turned off the WiFi, however, the TV doesn't detect that I'm using the USB to connect to the internet. Please give me and your other viewers a hand. Thank you
Just finally convinced my parents to upgrade their Panasonic plasmas, one of which is from 2008, on a X90(C)L set of 65" ($1200) and 75" ($1700) from Costco. Hope they like them! I went away from my own recommendation of an OLED, so I'm hoping I like it for them as well.
Great informative video. One suggestion….pull your soundbar to the edge of the cabinet. It will cut down on sound reflections and you will notice a clear difference in sound quality.
Thank you for the review. Can any of those ports be used as headphone jacks? I've always used wired headphones whilst watching movies and I need them on any new TV I buy.
How much better than the X90K is it? I have an unopened X90K 65 inch that I got for $1,000. Should I swap it with the L for 400 dollars more? They have the X90L 65 for $1400 right now. Help.
I just bought this! I was on the fence and you review really helped. I did the x90cl from Costco. The usb3.0 adapter did not work though 🤷♂️ other than that it’s an awesome tv! I love it so far
The amazon link for that Uni adapter defaults to the "Grey-USB 3.0" adapter. They also have a version that is "Switch compatible" listed there and if the picture is accurate (subtle difference in LED indicator light orientation) that's the one I think he uses. May want to try that one.
@Jacob_Harley the remote is still using IR fie some function, so you still have to point it at the TV. It's also an older style full remote compared to the slick and compact Samsung one. Brightness is not adjusted automatically well enough, I always have to manually increase or reduce it for day/night watching.
Hi Tomas, whats your thought on the viewing angle? The most negative point I have read about this tv in other reviews is always the viewing angle. In our setup the angle could go up to 30-45 degrees and I'm a bit worried that the screen will wash out. Cheers
Having a hard time deciding between this and the A90J. Should I be worried about burn-in at all with the A90J? If I really shouldn't be concerned about burn-in I might go for the A90J. Although since the A90J is a 2021 model, I don't think it has the XR Clear Image thing. I believe the Cognitive XR processor is the same as on the X90L though (correct me if I'm wrong). So..X90L 65" or A90J 65"?
If you have the funds and you'll truly use the tv often go oled for sure, burn in is not a major concern, I have converted most my screens to oled at this point including my monitor. It's absolutely no contest the best tv experience at consumer level I think you can have at this time. I'm considering this tv only because I have to use my rewards and it's a tv I won't be using as much, so a good quality/ the best bang for my buck is the objective. I hope you enjoy the a90j man.
I’d personally go X90L. I went through this same dilemma when I decided to buy this TV. It being $999 for the holiday sale season makes it even an even easier decision 👍
The only reason I am getting this instead of an oled is because I watch a lot of CNBC fox business and Fox News. The reviews for qled and oled have shown that the burn in for the tickers is a big problem. Plus this looks to be nice and Sony makes good tv’s. I’m just going to plug my apple 4k + and enjoy. I’m replacing my old 55” Vizio 4k and will place it into another room.
Hey mate, Thanks for the review. I have listened the audio with earphone. i'm worried that the sound quality wont be as good, how do you find it? enough subwoof for day to day use?
Honestly it’s pretty standard. Nothing to get excited about. I wouldn’t depend on it for anything like movies, if you’re in a smaller room then you may get passable results for day-to-day use.
Great review! 👍 I see that you had an A80J and your only complaint was that it wasn’t bright enough. I’m considering an A80L and it would be going in my basement with very little light. Do you think I’ll be satisfied with the brightness of an OLED? I watch sports and I’m afraid of dimming. Thx!
They are pretty even on picture quality maybe. I think the Sony has a more premium feel, better stand, better OS and better looking menues, better remote control. Choose the one you like more and don't worry which is "best"

Fell in love with Sony tvs back in 2017 when I was first moving out of my parents. The images just seem to have a three dimensional quality to them. Full of detail. I was only making $13 per hour so couldn’t afford the Sony “tax”. I decided to go with a Vizio 55 inch that I have been happy with for 6 years now. I was looking for a tv that had a wide color gamet, a direct backlight, and didn’t really care for streaming apps as every device I have can stream. The Vizio, at the time, was $400 cheaper in the 55 inch. Later this year I would like to upgrade to this TV after it goes on sale or maybe the X93L. It’s strange that Vizio quit making “high-end” tvs.
Parents always had Sony’s growing up. I also couldn’t afford the Sony tax. So I settled for a top of the line P-series 50in Vizio. I’ve had it for 9yrs now. Planning on upgrading to the X90L 75in come Black Friday.
Hi, do you know if you can turn it on and off using the remote control but without pointing the control at the sony X90L tv?? Because I read somewhere that to turn on and off you have to point the remote control at the TV
@@useraph-c4j Yes and no. My X90L the on off button won’t do anything when remote is near the floor but if you have it level with the bottom edge of the tv but remote pointed opposite direction it will work. The remote does have Bluetooth functionality.
Do you know if I would have a problem installing this tv along side with Bose speakers (Acoustimas Series) next to it. Do you think the magnets in those speakers will ruin the tv?
I compared this tv hdr content processing on amazon prime video with Samsung qn95b neo qled but Sony won my heart its still hard to believe Sony processors are another level while processing images detailed and shadows
I saw on this video, that the pictures on every corner of the tv, slightly darker (seems like lack of light) especially on the bright/white color..it's also happened to my sony 55X85L..I asked my local sony authorized dealer, they said it's normal..but in my opinion it's a little bit annoying although the picture quality is amazing..
I had the 85J and it wasn’t as bright as I would like. I should have gotten the 90J. Well I sold my Sony 85J and got the Samsung Q80C. I was choosing between the 65 inch Sony 90L or Samsung Q80C. I picked the Samsung Q80C, because I have a 55 inch Samsung Q80T from 2020 and I loved it. Just that it was a bit on the smaller side. Well the Samsung Q80C has four HDMI 2.1 port. It also has the gaming screen thing and also you can stream XBox games without a console.
Great review! Really helpful! I whish they would just drop speakers alltogether in modern TVs. There is no point in having great picture combined with the audio equivalent to 240P You Tube. Because that’s what it is. It is just the physics of it. So save the $ on those physical speakers, because the user has to fork out for external speakers anyway.
@@TomasVillegas Dropping internal speakers would force people to buy speakers, though. If you have a $2000 TV but no external audio, the resulting experience from instead going with a $1500 TV combined with $500 in audio would be orders of magnitude better. Sometimes people needs to be nudged into making good choices;-)
How is this TV compared to LG QNED 83?? I am considering the Sony X90L vs LG QNED 83 both 55inches. Which one should I buy? Or dump both to go to OLED. Then for budget it looks like LG OLED as Sony is quite expensive. What would you recommend ?
Hello, do you know if you can turn it on and off using the remote control but without pointing the control at the sony sony tv?? Because I read somewhere that to turn on and off you had to point the control at the TV
I don't have a tv but this would be the one for me and the reviews on it is very good only when its on sale but there is the tlc qm8 and the hisense u8k that does less blooming and better brightness but the X90l has better picture upscaling and motion and thats for me is important but going but the hisense u8k is still good and a lot cheaper for what it does vs the x90l
What I dislike reviewers are not talking about is side angles. Unless you sit directly in front of it for optimal picture quality. As soon as you sit side ways or have people watching on the sides. The picture goes to crap do to the VA panel being used.
I’ve read a lot of people saying this but in my anecdotal real world experience I didn’t find it to be a problem for me. I never would have anyone viewing past 45° though, and usually not more than 30°.
Hi, I’m new to the Sony TV universe and I just have a quick question I’m thinking about getting this TV or the mini LED one so I just wanted to know which one do you think is better? Thank you for your help
So with that adapter you are hard wire connecting your internet to the tv vs. using the tv’s wireless capabilities? Is the regular inner tv wireless /streaming capability bad with home wifi?
I prefer the snappiness of the adapter internet speeds. The apps are really quick at launching content and I don’t want to clog up my WiFi network. By all means the WiFi and wired network connections work fine without it. 👍
Hello Tomas. I can't really afford this one, BUT I can x85l . So what's your opinon for that one? Big difference? Is it worth it? Prons/cons? Is the back light bleeding bad? Thanks in advance.
You need it if your bandwidth is above 100mbits to get the max speed. If you don't use it, it's max 100mbits (which I'd already faster than most Internet access)
The CL is only availble in the States right? I am planning on getting this t.v soon from Costco in Canada, I don't think they have the CL version here but they do offer the extended 1 year on top of Sony's 1 year warrenty which is why I am buying it from there and not BestBuy.

That’s a hard question. If the J is still meeting your needs then no reason to upgrade. But if you want the gaming features and can get it for $1200, then it might be worth the upgrade. 👍
@@TomasVillegas Kind of thought the same. The PS5 is hooked right into it and does all the gaming features that I need. But I’d also be going 85” (from a 75”) so $1200 would be a super, duper steal!! Lol. Thanks for your response! Cheers!
The problem with Oled, besides the expense for an equivalently bright TV, is the stutter. That means you have to use some kind of motion interpolation, which means more soap opera effect. So basically you are choosing blooming over stutter and not as a bright screen. Also, Oleds can have brightness limiters that reduce the brightness when you are watching static images.
Nailed it. you own this model? i observed the same with X90K with significantly lesser stutter compared to a80K. Please advise how is the motion with motion flow 1 and cinemation high. I couldn't test it out thoroughly last year.
@@rv6569 I am considering it as I write this. An other alternative to escape the blooming from the Sony, would be the Hisense U8k. While the stutter is better than the Sony, the upscaling is not good and Hisense in the past has had bad quality control. I'm telling you to think in order to turn off the motion interpolation you have to have great upscaling and no stuttering. And so I'm thinking about the Sony.
You should've shown how bad the blooming is on the tv...so then this review would be more realistic and accurate. Other than that, great video, thanks a lot!

So, he wasn't clear about the leg stands: first he said it has two positions and then he says you can't use it in a narrow position. So can you use it in a narrowl position or not? What are the two positions that it can be used in? Those legs *seem* iffy for some tabletops. I'm guessing because, "knife wedges"???? Why not flat?!
@@TomasVillegas That I got, but I what wanted to know was *can the legs be set **_farther in_** from the outer bezel* (this what I actually need, as it would be placed atop a 29" case). You seem to imply that the legs can *only* be set at the farthest points, close to the bezel. Also, when you mentioned "two positions" it wasn't clear (to me) whether those positions were for the _width_ or the _height_. I assumed two width positions: outer and inner, close to center. Your reply, though, implies you meant two height positions, not width. Which is unfortunate for my needs, if that is the case. I'm looking at the 55", as the 65" is too big - desired - but too big. Thanks.
@@TomasVillegas Another question: I have the Ethernet now running from router to TV via the Ethernet adapter plugged in as you have show … but am also running Ethernet from the router to my Apple TV which then connects to the X90L via HDMI. So, are my apple apps and other (e.g., Philo) apps all streaming movies through the Apple TV? Is the LAN connection only being used for updating the TV and not streaming movies unless I were to use an app via the Sony TV? Thanks!!!

Thanks for the tip on the USB to Ethernet adapter. I was not aware of the Ethernet port limitations. Much appreciated!

So does this not include WiFi?
@@sumzupdisit does, but obviously wired connection is much faster
Very good content. Detail about a lot of things we think about that some reviewers miss out on! Purchased this morning and receiving Wednesday. Can’t wait!
You’ll love it. It’s a great TV. Thanks for the feedback. 🤝
Thanks for the feedback and taking the time to comment 🤝
I returned a Samsung Qn90b and a Sony x95 because of the anti-reflection layer that in a bright room just becomes a streak of rainbow puke across the screen.
Funny that you mention that about the anti-reflection layer on the X93L because I read in a review that the X90J in 2021 was considered a bit better than the higher model X95J and the following year’s X90K since like the salesman said, it may sacrifice picture quality.
Hi sir
I am confusing
Sony x90l or Samsung qn90c which is the best tv please tell me
Definitely Sony
Dark content in a bright room is tough for any tv. There’s certain content like Ozark that I just watch at night. I follow several well known reviewers and most gave the x90l positive reviews. I have a x930e from 5-6 years ago and it’s still a great tv. What I like about Sony is their processing and great colors. I ordered one today(65”)for my living room in my primary home. I moved the x930e to a secondary location. I paid $1,073 from Abt.
I heard the Sony rep describe the Sony X90L as a jack of all trades, but a master of none. Which is a perfect description.
Don't think you even seen it in real life 😂
@@mrm1885 - they did a two hour testing of everything the Sony TV could do and one of the top Samsung TVs. For somewhat of a lesser model the Sony one did pretty good and all aspects. I tried to buy the TV myself in November, but they were sold out so I ended up with the 98 inch TCL that actually looks amazing.
The best detail picture , the best natural tone color , the best upscaling of lower quality contents .
I don’t call this jack of all trades , but best of all trades . Don’t compare to Oled and say , Oled has black etc , boring statement by some reviewers sponsored by certain tv brands .
I just picked this one up 65" open box was 873.00 after tax. I saw new was 1200 bucks so i figured id give open box a shot if not i can return it up to 60 days or replace it.
That’s a killer deal 👍
Would this be any good for live hockey ? Brightness and motion rate? In a darker room. Thank you! Good video
It’s perfect for sports.
Sorry I didn’t purchase this XR X90L Sony through your link. I’m waiting for this model to be shipped to me this weekend. Price…..$998. + the four yr warranty for $94. I think this model will be absolutely beautiful in my apartment. not much sunlight during the day, movie theater atmosphere at night. I have the 65” Bravia on its way…… of course this is my third time seeing this video. 🤗🤗🤗
Appreciate the view and comment nonetheless 🤝
Great video! Took your advice and waited for the sales. Will be purchasing today for $1200.00 Canadian funds which is about 876.78 U.S. funds. Thank you and keep creating great content!
Thanks for watching! Glad you got a deal. You’ll love the TV.
Thank you
Happy new year! Just plugged and played. Everything you see in the video is what I did to get it to connect.

Probably an incompatible adapter unfortunately
Just finally convinced my parents to upgrade their Panasonic plasmas, one of which is from 2008, on a X90(C)L set of 65" ($1200) and 75" ($1700) from Costco. Hope they like them! I went away from my own recommendation of an OLED, so I'm hoping I like it for them as well.
This is a great TV they’ll like them.
Great informative video. One suggestion….pull your soundbar to the edge of the cabinet. It will cut down on sound reflections and you will notice a clear difference in sound quality.
Thanks for the suggestion 🤝
Thank you for the review. Can any of those ports be used as headphone jacks? I've always used wired headphones whilst watching movies and I need them on any new TV I buy.
How much better than the X90K is it? I have an unopened X90K 65 inch that I got for $1,000. Should I swap it with the L for 400 dollars more? They have the X90L 65 for $1400 right now. Help.
Great video. The most impressive thing in the video is watching him lift a 65 inch TV like it was a feather.
A testament to how lightweight the 65-in is. 🤝

I just bought this! I was on the fence and you review really helped. I did the x90cl from Costco. The usb3.0 adapter did not work though 🤷♂️ other than that it’s an awesome tv! I love it so far

Weird why your adapter doesn’t work.
costco has changed the the bravia core streamlining to 1 year instead of two years and only 5 movie credits from 15

The amazon link for that Uni adapter defaults to the "Grey-USB 3.0" adapter. They also have a version that is "Switch compatible" listed there and if the picture is accurate (subtle difference in LED indicator light orientation) that's the one I think he uses. May want to try that one.
Picking up the 85" version of this model on Wednesday, cannot wait!
A few minor details are not perfect, but the image quality is great, so very happy to have chosen this model

Cheers
It’s not great, but it’s also not terrible. I have some seating that is the same off axis and it’s perfectly passable. 👍
I see that you had an A80J and your only complaint was that it wasn’t bright enough. I’m considering an A80L and it would be going in my basement with very little light. Do you think I’ll be satisfied with the brightness of an OLED? I watch sports and I’m afraid of dimming. Thx!
a80l is less bright then c3 so get the c3

Definitely wait until this sales season, I bet this or the X93L go on a decent sale that will worth picking up.
Parents always had Sony’s growing up. I also couldn’t afford the Sony tax. So I settled for a top of the line P-series 50in Vizio. I’ve had it for 9yrs now.
Planning on upgrading to the X90L 75in come Black Friday.
Think memorial day would be a good time?@TomasVillegas
Magnets don't have any effect on led TVs.

Thanks for a great review. Question. Does the X90L have PIP and P&P ?
Thanks 👍
It doesn’t have PIP.

A ton of people don’t have external speakers so I don’t see manufacturers doing that anytime soon. It’s a good idea for those that do though. 👍
The installers put the feet the wrong way round so it tips forward a bit will that cause any problems ?
Correct them! Especially if you have a cat! 😉
How is this TV compared to LG QNED 83?? I am considering the Sony X90L vs LG QNED 83 both 55inches. Which one should I buy? Or dump both to go to OLED. Then for budget it looks like LG OLED as Sony is quite expensive. What would you recommend ?

Superb review! Learned a lot, think I am going shopping 😊
Which one is better LG c3 or Sony x90l ??
What I dislike reviewers are not talking about is side angles. Unless you sit directly in front of it for optimal picture quality. As soon as you sit side ways or have people watching on the sides. The picture goes to crap do to the VA panel being used.
The viewing angles are fine on this TV.
I’ve read a lot of people saying this but in my anecdotal real world experience I didn’t find it to be a problem for me. I never would have anyone viewing past 45° though, and usually not more than 30°.
I’m curious as a A80J owner myself……which of the two sets do you you find yourself drawn to more?
I have the A80J too. OLED is beautiful. And so is this TV. I like them both in different settings.
75" X90L or 65" A80L for OTT streaming to upgrade from 50" LED TV? Priority is picture quality and sound.
Hi, I’m new to the Sony TV universe and I just have a quick question I’m thinking about getting this TV or the mini LED one so I just wanted to know which one do you think is better? Thank you for your help
If you have the budget I recommend mini led. 👍
@@TomasVillegas aw thank you so much my fiancé is trying to convince me this tv is better than the mini led because I was going to get a oled Sony tv

So i bought the x90l and when i went to system settings the model number was Bravia 4k vh22. Whats up with that? did i get ripped off?
The 85 series is a good option too in my opinion. I’ve had the 850 for many years and its a great TV that lasted a long time.

Quick question.. do you need the Ethernet USB adaptor if you’re just going to use the Ethernet hooked up to the newest Xbox for streaming?
You need it if your bandwidth is above 100mbits to get the max speed.
If you don't use it, it's max 100mbits (which I'd already faster than most Internet access)
This was a practical review! Thank you!

I have a x90j. Is this worthy of the jump to the newer model?
@@rv6569
I am considering it as I write this.

I don’t know. I think I was pretty clear saying that it won’t fit on narrow TV stands. Two positions possible. Low and sound bar height.
