Very nice Sony premium 98" 4K HDR TV at a very aggressive 3 week promotional sale. Goes back to $7,999 at the end of the day on Sunday, July 28th. and stays at $7,999. This is a one time opportunity.

    I've had the 55 inch since it launched and I am amazed by the color and the clarity. Low bit rate content looks better on this than the TCL Q7 by far. I came from the Sony 900f and it is a clear step up in all respects - even the black levels. Sony tvs have the best dialogue when listening to the built speakers. I'm amazed by what I'm getting for the money. It's such a premium experience!

      I really think you nailed the gaming portion. No other reviewer often mentions that gaming is more than just input lag. We want the best picture quality while gaming as well. Being able to adjust the picture more during gaming is a must. Hopefully, the game bar evolves over time with this TV. Who knows, maybe in a year's time they will add some more gaming features like other companies have post launch.

      Yo can you explain what you mean by low bit rate content? Is this typical streaming content from the apps? Through the TV itself or being played through an external device? Is this different than low resolution content?

    The quality of this model is just surprising to see, This has to be the best tv for the money this year, for someone who isn’t in the premium oled price point or doesn’t want to spend an arm and a leg it’s the tv that’s best all around. Easily competes with MiniLED and it’s affordable and performs for the price.

      Sorry, but i had this tv X90L and it never comes near in the picture quality of my X950H from 2020. No picturedepth, bad viewangle and no color pop. It seems like the picture is flat. The only good option with food picturequality in my opinion and i go only for Sony and fald or miniled is the X95L or maybe the repacked X93L when you can give more money for a TV

    • @BRIANSTECHTHERAPY
      @BRIANSTECHTHERAPY  ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @biggesttboss it's the first resolution without a format behind it, such as an 8K bluray ect. It's pixel density matters very little as it's only upscaling. Also all major manufacturers are releasing their new technologies such as QD-OLED and MLA on 4k and not 8K. It's essentially dead.

    Glad to be back at my safe channel. Seeing this guy channel showing comparisons. Doing and growing well. Please do mention which channels are available in 85” sizes as well for value. Since Sony is changing model with larger size. It’s confusing. So this is an update from 900h series? Been away and can’t make sense of these letters. Please do help in having some folks understand who come back to models after years of their purchase. I remember 900f 950h 800h etc. Now what are they currently, I don’t know ? Also, love Sony tv color profiles. Vivid with brightness 5 in my 4yr old tv gives me such a wonderful viewing experience in my huge tv. It’s really clears up colors making it compete with any Samsung pop with dark black and depth due to software optimizations. Love reality creation on Auto, add details intelligently so close to highest video signal and this is 4 yrs old tv with limited chips, it doesn’t add nasty Ai upscaling to everything. But to only places which would enhance resolution in split of second every scene👏. And that picture quality attracts everyone in my house and enhances all colors of all content. Sony wins for that for making all kind of customers happy.

    I just purchased a QM8 and, while it has a beautiful picture in the optimal settings and feed with Disney Plus and video games, it leaves a lot to be desired when watching Discovery Plus or TH-cam. My 4 year old Vizio is better with lower resolution content. There is also a terrible rainbow reflection from our dining room light that makes the tv unwatchable with the light on. I think I will be returning the QM8 for the X90L.

      @@dishsoap1 I actually kept the Hisense. The 4k picture is really nice to me and I actually care more about that than a slightly better picture for some lower resolution feeds. The Hisense does pop more than the Sony and in the end that was my highest preference. With that said, any of the Sony TV's are great choices, imo.

    Great review! Coming from an X85K (which doesn't have FALD, but it does have a great panel with one of the highest native contrast ratios of any LED TV) I have a few questions:
    1. How does the native contrast and brightness compare to the X93L?
    2. Do you think the X93L or X95L are worth the premium over the X90L for a home theater in a variety of lighting conditions?
    3. Any thoughts on blooming vs the aforementioned mini-LED models?
    Thanks!

    • @BRIANSTECHTHERAPY
      @BRIANSTECHTHERAPY  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great question! The X90L is very good especially for where it stands in the lineup. However, for me the X93L is worth the price jump. It's a bit brighter, but it's better controlled with the backlight master drive. The X95L is even better but perhaps not worth the price jump at this moment. It has superior local dimming but it also appears less bright because of it. Hope this helps. Thank you for watching

    I needed to do some recon at my local BestBuy. Not the ideal place to compare TV's because they are so juiced up for retail display, but only way for me to compare multiple models. On my possible radar is a 75/77" TV for my living room to replace my 65" A80J. Off my list - A95L-too expensive, same for the S95C & LG G3. The X95L is also not a consideration due to only coming in an 85" size, and the price. Refuse to pay those prices for any TV.
    I saw the QM8, X90L, X93L, and A80L. while there. The QM8 was separate from the others but just popped when you looked at it. A bit over intense on the colors but it's probably in its most vivid mode. The 65" A80L and 65" X90L were in a group of 4 Sony's. The A80L looked the best of the 4, once you see OLED it is hard to not gravitate to it. The X90L had an odd matte looking finish to the screen that made blacks look grayish quite often. Another group had the X93L and X90L together. I honestly could not see much if any difference between the two, and in a larger size, I think they were both 85", I didn't notice the grayish blacks on the X90L. So the QM8 and A80L are still the two I would consider. The Hisense U8K was great too but the QM8 I thought rivaled it and is currently a bit less $$'s. Not in a rush so will wait to see if there are any great discounts around Black Friday.

    While I am hoping to get this beast before 2023 is out, there is a slim chance I might not be able to afford a $2,000 85-inch display until the summer of 2024. Next time you meet with Robert from Sony, could you ask and find out whether Sony will be sticking with the X90L like they stuck with the X85K, or if the X90L will be replaced with the X90M and how significant the upgrade will be. Being that Sony is carrying this model over to their 2024 lineup, it's still relevant for comparing similarly priced Hisense and TCL models, especially the Hisense U8N and 2024 makeover of the TCL QM8. While the U8N and QM8 will get brighter, the question is how close their color accuracy, PQ EOTF tracking, motion performance, and upscaling can get to the Sony X90L.

    Great video, but why is mention of the 98" left out? I'd like to hear more opinions of what people would choose (if the price was equal), the 98" X90L or the 85" X95L for a bright room :-). The price here in Mexico has the 98" at around $7000 USD which I know will continue to drop towards black Friday.
    Loved how this video changed through the modes for those of us who aren't 100% purists. I wish I could see the input lag as the video was shuffling through the game settings. Regardless, I know from other reviews since I'm not a competitive gamer (I play single player large world RPGs), the input lag will be good enough for me.
    My current Samsung 75" Q9FN crushes the details in black, so I'm 95% sure I'll be moving to Sony (as well as for the motion processing/upscaling).

I highly suggest using them for Lcd tvs. Makes black bars black. I dont use them on my oleds, though, and I only use white.

    Directly compared to the X90K, what is your thought? Is this model in 85” at $2799, worth the $800 price difference between it and the X90k?

They didn’t have the 90 and 93l next to each other, so kinda hard to tell get a good comparison done, but what do you think is the better deal… $2799 for 85” 90L or $3999 for the 85” 93L? We watch a lot of movies, both daytime and nighttime. We have the X90j now. Solid TV but it struggles sometimes when the living room is rather bright and the blooming is sometimes a little distracting.

    Brian, I am deciding between the 98" TCL QM8 and the 98" Sony X90L. It will only be used with 4k blu ray HDR 10 / Dolby Vision movies in a dark room as I'm a movie buff, so I don't care about upscaling capabilities (already own an Apple TV 4K as well). I won't be gaming, watching sports or TH-cam. I won't be watching anything less than 4K HDR. The feeling of "depth", i.e. the image looking 3-dimensional for a 2D movie is important to me. Both TVs have the same price of $10,000. Which one would you recommend in this situation?

    Great video Brian - this TV is probably indistinguishable in a bright scene from any other TV regardless of price.
    The only gripe I have are the number of dimming zones compared to the X93 and X95. This model has 80 zones while the premium models have 420 and 480 respectively and I think that number should be closer especially in view of the HDMI 2.1 ports. I'd say 240 or 320 (1/2 or 2/3s of the 95) would elevate this TV above almost all other offerings. After all, the price of the X90 is 70% of the X93 and usually premium models have smaller upgrades.
    That would leave the other models in Sony's LED lineup with slightly more zones, miniLED, and premium features. I feel Sony is being a little cheap with their economy customers which surprises me as Japanese companies are usually more focused on the average consumer.
    Of course, Sony will counter that the X90L has processing that surpasses any other TV on the market and that the difference is as clear side-by-side against any other TV and they'd probably be right. I've never seen the G3 side-by-side with the X90 but I'd be curious to see which one looks better. Personally, once I see more detail or a sharper cleaner image on screen, the value of extra contrast diminishes dramatically as I value the picture and the clarity more than dynamics in dark scenes.

Took a few days with the X93L and can tell how much of a beast this tv is overall. Foundation on Apple TV looks phenomenal on it with very little blooming and incredibly inky blacks. I’m learning blooming various dramatically from content to content. In your professional opinion which would you keep the X93L or X90L? Thank you.
